The royal family

Why is Harry coming to the coronation at all?

He's apparently not going to see his father and he's just flying in an out, leaving immediately after the ceremony to rush back to California. I know it's nice to be at your kid's birthday party, but FFS this is his father's coronation, a day he's been waiting for his whole life. So Harry is flying all the way over here, no doubt burning up the planet on a fucking private jet, and all for what? To be seen to be there? What for? What a waste of time. If he's not even going to celebrate with his family I don't know why he doesn't just stay in California, since that's clearly where he'd rather be. I don't understand why he's coming at all.

... oh and let's not forget the footage of Meghan climbing outside stairs with a baby and then being photographed and 'hounded' ... but according to a royal journalist (forget who) saying that was an h voted photoshoot

@Janiie - there were some hum dingers on the Netflix .. the funniest I recall was H&M in the back of a car, all panicky (fake!), working out the back window and hand-holdy because there was a moped behind them ... they were all 😱 oh god the press following is ... when it was just a moped travelling behind them ... not a raft of paps .. a moped 🙄 ... I'm sure the car they were in could have put their foot down and left the moped in a cloud of dust

I know! despite not watching the whole unedifying soap opera I saw that clip too Grin. What a pair of Wallies.

That wasn’t presented as one of those moments though. You really need to watch things for yourself and not rely on tabloid gossipers for your information.

Seeing clips is not the same as watching the whole thing.

Oh it is. You get the general 'woe is me' idea and 'I'll use any old footage to back up my sob story'. You'll be telling us the mocking curtsy scene wasn't a mocking curtsy scene at all, it was taken out of context you see she was laughing at herself! 🥱

You don't need to watch the whole thing g to realise it's just a tiny molehill they're prattling on about, like it's the next Diana, when in actual fact there has been a huge change in the ways journalists work because of Diana ... rightly so... but they're trying to frame themselves into this now ... no doubt trying to make Megs the 'new Diana' 🙄 and the new revolutionary RF they so want to be ... except it's all preaching and not actually doing-it themselves of course ... just desparate for elevation for idiots to pay the money for their woke ramblings and garbage speak about the next world issue they've decided to jump into the band wagon ... to make a fast buck and again elevate themselves with

Did netflix know who Katie Price is? Katie who contrives to appear in the media at the drop of a hat? I have a soft spot for her though with her anti trolling campaign.

Whaeanui · 26/04/2023 11:21

🤦🏾‍♀️ really? Hacking? Tapping? Bugging? All still continued after her death. They still follow people. They still took topless pictures of Kate. They didn’t change, they got worse

🙄

We all post very well just because there are different opinions doesn't mean people don't 'post very well'.

Geeze Janiie

I never suggested other people don't write good posts.

Plenty do. Some I really respect - I like that they take the time to think things through, offer different viewpoints, and the opportunity for me to read and learn.

Chasing people and harassing in the streets / on holiday etc

Whaeanui · 26/04/2023 11:47

Hmm I can't remember the last time I saw a papped shot of a member of the rf running down the street, so no I don't think it does happen now.

The Last time I saw it was in the netflix series. There was footage of Kate being yelled at by photographers who screamed out vulgar obscenities at her, in order to get her to turn around so they could get a proper, publishable picture of her.

custardbear · 26/04/2023 12:18

@Morestrangerthings - were they on a moped?

When Kate Middelton was Kate Middelton they shouted at her wlaking through an airport. They called her 'bitch', 'slut' and "c*t" in order to get her to turn around.

50 to 100 men, following her, all shouting and some shouting that.

But you are correct - they do not do that to William or Charles.

But hey ho - continue to defend the press. And continiue to accept what they tell you.

And you do by your own admission. "I don't /won't watch Netflix/read the book" etc translates to "I will let the press do the reseach for me and will accept what they say".

There is a difference between the mainstream media and paps.

We do not see photos or footage on the news or in the papers of the rf being harassed. It happened in the 90s it doesn’t happen now. Independent paps of course will try their luck but it isn't the norm like it used to be.

You are correct. It is rare that they get papped. We see them if they want to be seen. That costs the Sussexes $60 million dollars a year. We don't know how much it costs us/the royal family as they don't tell us.

But we get stories. All. The. Time. 40 a day according to @Roussette. The stories are almost entirely negative when about the Sussex Two, but almost entirely positive about everyone else.

At that point we should ask questions as to why?

Also keep in mind that the Sussexes are now living away, making their own money. They pay tax. They cover their own costs.

The rest of the gang however live here, cost us money, have secret agreements with government, secret wills, have palaces and castles on standby in case they visit (while lecturing on climate change), opac finances, and on, and on, and on.

In essence they rip us off. And we roll over because they might come to cut a ribbon and smile at us, thereby reassuring us that they are lovely. But really we should be thinking- my what big teeth you have....

To me, the Sussexes are the heavily promoted distraction.

Rhondaa · 26/04/2023 15:32

'Also keep in mind that the Sussexes are now living away, making their own money. They pay tax. They cover their own costs.'

Harry sells stories about the rf, how very ironic. What a way to make a living.

skullbabe · 26/04/2023 15:36

It’s the wilful hand waving away of observable press bad behaviour in favour of accepting the press narrative that I don’t understand.

Yes @4plusthehound

In case that is doubted, here it is

And not ONE detractor of H&M has said that is wrong or criticised it. That tells you something doesn't it...

Some middle of the road people who are neither here nor there, have thought it appalling, but no one who is anti Meghan has thought it bad. And bear in mind the 40 in 24hrs was before she showed her face but once this year.

Why is Harry coming to the coronation at all?

This is the most recent example I can think of a royal family member being obviously papped, and looking they weren’t aware of/happy with the photographers. These days mostly their bigger concern is members of the public and camera phones.

Kate celebrates mum Carole's birthday with a party at Pippa's

Kate, 37, arrived without husband William, 36, for the soiree, which was hosted by sister Pippa and brother-in-law James Matthews at their home in Chelsea, London.

They are all raised like that. It is not a great system and one would think they learn by experience. Andrew sold influence, contacts, dinners, weekends in Balmoral with the Queen etc. His wife did the same. Sophie was at it too for a while as was Edward.

Unless they raise their offspring to be self sustaining and independant you will always get this state of affairs.

It is clearly an unhealthy to have all those grown people subject to favour from the Monarch in order to survive.

None of them made a career out of slagging off the rf and airing a load of private conversations and 'truths'.
