Kate 'resents' not having final moment to say goodbye to Queen

Kate, 41, remained in Windsor to look after her children while the immediate family headed to be at the late monarch's bedside - says Robert Jobson in new book, Our King.

Anyway, I have spent too long on this nonsense today so I will leave the regular obsessives to it, because I don't want to catch it 😆

tatalan · 18/04/2023 20:11

@derxa please where did you get that he tried to overrule?

His book. He wanted her there. According to his own words.

orangedalmatian · 18/04/2023 20:35

She clearly wanted to be there because he argued with pa and says, say it all, at the end because he wasn't getting his own way.

No one except Harry would want her there after calling them all racists!

tatalan · 18/04/2023 20:44

@orangedalmatian where did he argue? allegedly Charles was being disrespectful about Meghan, Harry asked him not to speak about his wife that way, then accepted that Meghan wouldn't be going because Kate wouldn't be.

		"<strong>Then that’s all you needed to say.”</strong>
LadyMuckingabout · 18/04/2023 20:55

Harry wrote in Spare about the argument. That’s how we know about it. And, I reiterate, trying to force your company upon people you have (rightly or wrongly) deeply offended - including the dying person - is not just thick skinned but self-aggrandising.

This is ridiculous now. I just can’t fathom this blind support for H&M. No one, no one is that perfect. The juvenile language about “hate” etc is like something you’d expect from rabid Taylor Swift fans.

tatalan · 18/04/2023 21:00

@LadyMuckingabout where exactly did Harry try to force Meghan's company on anyone? Charles allegedly spoke disrespectfully about Meghan, Harry called him out then accepted that Meghan wouldn't attend once he was informed that Kate wasn't going...i'm not seeing the forcing here, can you show me?

His exact words were - "Then that’s all you needed to say.”

Am I missing something?

You have no idea if this happened at all. Who said she forced herself on anyone? Why would you jump to this conclusion? He didn’t say that In his book, his father immediately disrespected his wife and he didn’t tolerate it. Accepted the decision for not too many people and that was it.

I just can’t fathom this blind support for H&M. No one, no one is that perfect.

It isn’t ‘blind support’ to not believe what the tabloids and media print. It isn’t blind support not to follow the consensus here and incessantly criticise Meghan for imagined wrongs. Nobody has to be perfect in order for me to not want to join in on gossip and nasty and endless criticism. Nobody is perfect. We don’t need to be.

LadyMuckingabout · 18/04/2023 21:16

But Harry wanted Meghan to go (and you say she wanted to go)and held up the plane with all the other royals on whilst he was to-ing and fro-ing with Charles. This moment was not about H&M. The conversation in Spare just demonstrates that H is a selfish, petulant man. Of course he is loyal to his wife, but these were particular circumstances - Charles had lost his mother, the Monarch had died, he was now King… and above all, H&M had trashed them all publicly.

tatalan · 18/04/2023 21:24

@LadyMuckingabout held up the plane how?

“I immediately texted Willy to ask whether he and Kate were flying up. If so, when? And how?
No response. Meg and I looked at flight options.
The press started phoning; we couldn’t delay a decision any longer. We told our team to confirm: We’d be missing the WellChild Awards and hurrying up to Scotland.

He asked William whether he and Kate were going and how they were getting to Scotland, he was ignored (William and Kate had every right to ignore him). So he and Meghan made their own flight arrangements..

where in this was he delaying a plane journey?

What did his father say that was disrespectful?

That she wasn't welcome? Well, I can understand why she wouldn't have been welcome, based on the Oprah interview. I don't see that as 'disrespectful', just being honest about the impact of their public comments. Going NC/LC goes both ways.

Or was there more content to 'disrespectful'?

Your post makes it sound as if the only reason Meghan wanted to go was because she didn't want Kate, as she perceived it, to have the preferential treatment of being close to the Queen as she lay dying. Whaaaaaaa, why should she be there, I wanna be there.

'That's all you needed to say', i.e. Kate isn't going to be there because she has a sense of decorum so I won't make a fuss about Meghan being there. Good grief.

Harry said his father disrespected Meghan, but didn't say how. TBH if it was along the lines of the pair of you have succeeded in making your grandmother's last months on this earth stressful, sad and troubled, you're not making her last moments the same, now sod off, who could blame him.

As Harry used the queens deathbed in his book, it's obvious it would have been used as a money spinner.

A Question: is orangedalmation and purpledalmation the same poster or are you two different posters? I thought they were two people, but now I’m not sure. Not meaning to offend or upset, but it is confusing. Thanks.

tatalan · 19/04/2023 04:47

@Coxspurplepippin I certainly didn't read it that way but you're welcome to. Harry and Meghan didn't even know what William and Kate's plans were, they asked and they were ignored, so Harry and Meghan made the decision to fly up together, a wife wants to support her husband, shocker.

Those of us with 'purple' in our names were accused of being a monarchist cabal.

I'm sure it won't be long before Dalmation is accused of being an infiltrator from the Dutch royal family Grin.

WellPlaced · 19/04/2023 07:23

I was incredibly close to my MiL but when she lay dying, I knew that was a time for her children to be with her, not me.

Of course you are a cabal, there is no other explanation!

And as for all the dalmations... it is obviously an attempt at world domination via the RF board on MN by Croatia. Or possibly by spotty dogs. Or maybe pro-Croatian spotty dogs. Something like that anyway... definitely a conspiracy 😮🤔

I agree. And there really is no suggestion that either Kate or Meghan wanted to be there except for shitty tabloid articles.

LadyMuckingabout · 19/04/2023 08:53

Yet some posters are saying that Meghandid want to go “to support her dh” and that why shouldn’t she?

If Harry thinks Charles “disrespected” his wife, couldn’t Charles say that the pair of them disrespected the person actually at that moment dying?

mixedrecycling · 19/04/2023 08:55

Well, there was Harry's book with his reported conversation with Charles re: Meghan going with him.

But that doesn't mean she wanted to go.

As ever, an accusation (that Charles was disrespectful) without any further info about what he said that was disrespectful.

Whaeanui · 19/04/2023 09:01

So? That’s Harry’s take, he was disrespectful, apologised, moved on. My point is that there’s no word from either party that Harry was insisting she be there, Meghan was forcing herself on people or that he delayed the plane. You can disbelieve Harry’s version if you wish to. But the only other one out there is what the media told you. Nobody here knows anything other than Harry’s version, and tabloids who raised it first. Repeating tabloid gossip as fact isn’t the smartest thing to do.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 19/04/2023 09:09

@Whaeanui

I posted a tabloid story about Kate.

Cue angry posters saying, correctly in my view, that we should not believe the tabloids.

Now, the very same posters are saying we should believe the tabloids, because the subject is Meghan, not Kate.

Funny how that works.

mixedrecycling · 19/04/2023 09:10

There is another version out there - she wasn't insisting on being there but they assumed spouses were going, and that Harry's version is distorted by his belief that everyone is being mean and any suggestion that Meghan wasn't welcome was 'disrespectful'.

I don't read tabloids. Have consistently said that I think this is a made up click bait story.

Whaeanui · 19/04/2023 09:11

@MrsMaxDeWinter oh I know and I’ve even said it on the thread. Your thread got inundated with nasty accusations towards you so that it got pulled and yet they’re happy to engage in this one 🤷🏽‍♀️ with no such targeting of the absent OP @RYGO

Whaeanui · 19/04/2023 09:13

There is another version out there One that you made up. The version you mention isn’t from either Harry or Charles, the two people in the phonecall. So, not a version, it’s gossip. You added your own opinion, which is that Charles didn’t say anything disrespectful. Your opinion only.
