The royal family

Why is Charles disappointed Archie and Lillibet not coming?

Charles has said he is disappointed Archie and Lillibet are not coming to the Coronation. But the children were not invited to anything at the Coronation weekend.
Charles will be busy the whole weekend with Coronation events and meeting officials. So why has he said he is disappointed when he would not even see them/ If he wanted to see them he should have invited them to something.

Why don’t you phone or email him and ask him? I’m afraid none of us know and so can’t advise. Soz.

🤣

Interestingly the royal family do have black or moorish blood in their veins through one or two Spanish marriages.

None of us know what is going on. I would think (but don't know) that the whole family were invited and could have stayed in Windsor if not Frogmore with their nannies and be under royal protection throughout. It's a heck of an upheaval for a 4 and 1 year old even on private jets to make it California to UK and I'm sure Meghan just chose to celebrate her son's birthday there in comfort.

I seriously don't think King Charles 3 sat down and said "let's have my coronation on Archie's birthday." As PP have said, dodging bank holidays and Easter/Pesach/early Ramadan in spring and settling on a Saturday and gifting another Bank Holiday to the nation takes some doing. No one would have forgiven him buggering up Aintree!

StormzyinaTCup · 14/04/2023 22:44

I’m sure the children will survive. Most children who live without GP’s in their lives survive just fine. You don’t miss what you didn’t have

Most children won't see their extended family, who they don't know and have never met, on their TV, in newspapers/magazines and on the internet. They will see what they haven't had. They may be fine with that but they may not.

PilshardPillToSwallow · 14/04/2023 22:57

When archie and lilli are older they will have plenty to draw on as to why there are a massive schisms in theory family.
I'm sure they will forgive dad.

Anonymouseposter · 14/04/2023 23:11

It's another leak from the palace, or another load of bollocks made up by the press??
Who knows?
We don't really know what members of the Royal family think and feel about things. Harry is the only one who has spoken directly about his feelings, and he sometimes contradicts himself anyway.

Exactly. So this party/celebrate Archie is bogus.

These people couldn't even make the time to celebrate Lili's birthday, now people want to H&M to make concessions?

Charles was briefing that he was too busy to see Harry just 2 weeks ago. Now he has all the time in the world and is sad?

Nope nope nope.

To use the same language, the birthday clash is really not that deep. King Charles is head of state of this country. I don’t think posters, who make critical posts around the date really understand the logistics and planning involved in this type of event. Leaders from various countries will be expecting to attend. It’s a massive undertaking. The clash just happened to be on Archie’s birthday because of when he was born, which is unfortunate as this leads to speculation for this choice being personal. I don’t think it is and cannot imagine it would have been delayed had it been on another family member’s birthday or wedding anniversary, etc.

Didn’t mean to underline. It happens sometimes when I’m deleting and accidentally hit the button.

EdithWeston · 15/04/2023 07:13

They were just kicked out of their UK home thought were they not?

Not exactly.

They paid for renovations and the first 18 months rent (as reported at the time). That ran out at the end of last year. So that's six months extension.

Aslanplustwo · 15/04/2023 07:58

If Charles is so disappointed that H&M don’t bring his GC to him he could always visit them. It works both ways.

I can't work out if some posters are naive, or just plain dense. Do you seriously think the King of England can just hop on a plane and visit his grandchildren on a whim?

As for the nonsense about not choosing Archie's birthday as the day to hold the Coronation, it's beyond ridiculous. A 4 year old's birthday is not more important than the crowning of a monarch to anyone except the child's parents!

PilshardPillToSwallow · 15/04/2023 09:13

I agree that it's hard to plan something like this and take into account all the gc bday would be hard.

But it's massively unfortunate that all all the bday it could have fallen on. It's landed on Harry's sons.

The optics and impact of the this are huge.

IcedPurple · 15/04/2023 09:22

They really aren't.

smilesy · 15/04/2023 09:45

I’m not sure why people seem to think it is a slight again at Archie having the Coronation on his birthday. Maybe it should be seen as a joint celebration 🤷‍♀️

They use private jets. It's not that difficult.

googlejourney · 15/04/2023 09:49

He's 4, and doesn't know when his birthday is. They could easily have have celebrated a week prior. It's a non issue, Harry played polo on his birthday last year. I'm guessing with Harry out the country they'll have a family birthday celebration on another day anyway.

The reason Meghan isn't coming isn't because of Archie, it is for all the other complicated reasons and it is the right decision.

PilshardPillToSwallow · 15/04/2023 09:52

I think they are.
I think it looks like a move to make it hard for them to attend. Little children are very much into their birthdays. It looks like it could be a callous over sight, or a deliberate move.

PilshardPillToSwallow · 15/04/2023 09:53

It doesn't look kind or benevolent to do it. It isn't kind to leave them out of the invites

It only 'looks like' that if you choose to see it that way.

However, most people will understand that a Coronation is a massive state event which will have to take multiple factors into account. It's not like the various people involved in planning the event connived to 'make it hard' for the king's younger son and his wife to attend. Do you seriously believe that?

Quite.

Charles was in town same days as Harry. He could not even slot him in for, I don't know, pre-dinner drinks or nothing?

Sounds very much like the whole thing was 'managed'. A bit like the time Harry was supposed to meet the queen and she was suddenly busy, he asked on the phone if she was with someone and she just replied yes.

This is all spin. Charles the concerned grandfather. It's not fooling anyone.

Papers don't just make up stories out of thin air. They get something, and they can either be told to twist it in a certain way or they just do. The RF is powerful, mostly for the rags, what goes in the paper is what they want in that paper. So yes, some royals will be portrayed in a certain light.

Re camilla she's not coming off well either.

Very few people will see it that way. But if there are indeed people so ignorant of the level of planning that goes into a royal event, so be it. You can't please everyone, especially if they've already made up their minds to see something a certain way.

tatalan · 14/04/2023 22:05

He'd have more of a chance to see Archie and Lili if he hadn't kicked them out of Frogmore. I truly don't think he wants a relationship with them 😐

Kicked them out of Frogmore and already taken their security away.

I think H would risk himself with a small security detail, I doubt he would do the same for his family.

From what I have seen, A&L came to HMQE jubilee with the children because of how frail and old she was and arranged everything based in Frogmore with the necessary protection (birthday party/friends visiting/ chance for HMQE to see Lili IRL etc.). I don't see how they would go out of their way to see C&CPB getting crowned and quickly making another transatlantic flight back home. With children this young, I wouldn't take less than 2 weeks to visit a country - it's called jet lag for a reason.

Archie attends a nursery and probably has friends, so I think it's better he has his friends there. From last time, it was a frosty reject from the cousins who 'couldn't make it'. And they do have those who care like Eugenie visiting them anyway.

As for Charles, his visit to his grandson doesn't have to be last minute or 'on a whim'. He could plan it in advance - though I have a feeling that 'wasp' would prevent that as much as possible, filling up his diary.

PussBilledDuckyPlait · 15/04/2023 10:50

Hmm, Charles is hardly going to put out a statement saying 'Thank God the little brats are staying stateside' is he?

WandaWonder · 15/04/2023 10:50

So to whom did Charles say this too?

It's 'amazing' how there is more holes than a sieve coming put of the palace with all this expert inside knowledge
