No surprise he's coming on his own to the coronation.

Why would it not be true? Why else was there such a delay and it is now being reported that the delay was because they couldn't agree on details like seats? It makes absolute sense.

This was speculated not reported by one royal reporter. It serves no one to now take this as fact.

This must be the oddest thread I’ve ever read. Literally. Two posters seem to be such complete and utter super fans if I was harry or Meghan I’d be concerned, I’m sure even their closest friends don’t treat like them like they are absolute gods.

i think they would be more concerned by the hate on these threads.

Serenster · 14/04/2023 11:06

That was after they were married, diflasu. They truly dreadful treatment that Kate received was before they were married.

I get that in order to position Meghan as the most badly treated royal woman ever, which is the central plank to many of her supporters’ view of her, you have to have to to some extent ignore the bigger picture. But to handwave away 20 years of Kate being physically surrounded and harassed by paparazzi at all hours of the day and night, shouted at abusively by them so they could get a reaction, have them crouching in the gutter so they could take photos up her skirt as she got into a taxi, having her voicemails hacked more than 100 times as not as bad as Meghan…. Kate had to leave her job because of the harassment. William tried and failed to get the Palace to protect her. But they would do nothing until they were married.

And that account is without even going into what happened to Diana, to Sarah Ferguson, to Sophie…. all were treated absolutely horribly. Meghan had (clothed) love scenes from Suits, which she had clearly voluntarily done, put up on pornhub. An occupational hazard for actresses, sadly, but truthfully. Sophie had a former friend sell a copy of a photo the friend had taken of Chris Tarrant pulling her top up to expose her breast (without her consent) to the press, which they published right before her wedding. Sexually harassed, betrayed by a friend, and humiliated.

All of this is unacceptable. All the treatment is vile. So is the hand waving and the attitude that only one of the victim’s feelings count, and only one of the victims deserved protection.

If I was their friends, I would be seriously worried about the amount of toxic words being spouted by some women, about a woman.

I don't think they are gods at all. But I do think the depth of hate and vitriol is unwarranted. That is not calling them 'a god'.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/04/2023 11:14

Thanks to Serenster and MrsFinkelstein for the link to palace statements in Meghan's defence; I was going to ask about that but see you both got in first

Yes they're all equally into leaking and "placing stories with friends", but so much for the many claims that the institution hardly ever spoke up for Meghan ...

Roussette · 14/04/2023 11:19

But to handwave away 20 years of Kate being physically surrounded and harassed by paparazzi

Nobody is handwaving it away, no doubt you will say I am. I think the intensity of it was worse. But of course, as you well know, we are talking about different timescales, aren't we.

And Meghan even though she has left, and hasn't been seen but once for 4 months is still hounded by the Press.

26 DM articles in one 24 hour period.

All of this is unacceptable. All the treatment is vile. So is the hand waving and the attitude that only one of the victim’s feelings count, and only one of the victims deserved protection.

Handwaving again? No. See what I said above. There is something very very wrong with the british media when they do this sort of thing to all the married in women in the RF. It is absolutely disgusting. And the RF need to change their symbiotic relationship with the Press, before the three little ones become fodder. Which they will do.

Put together like that, it's honestly just shocking and horrifying. Indeed you would think Meghan was the only royal woman to be hounded, but hers was nothing in comparison to that litany and to Diana. The reason meghan and harry get all the negative press now, is entirely of their own doing. Can't blame palace leaks or anyone else now, down to them. still they think they're victims but they just haven't learnt to shut up.

So true, but you can't say it or you get deleted.

Roussette · 14/04/2023 11:25

So Meghan deserves it, is what you're saying.
That won't be a good view when George or Louis get a girlfriend will it?

And you seem happy with palace leaks too.

Oh well, at least we know your views

Viviennemary · 14/04/2023 11:27

Harry and Meghan are the ones who kept their show on the road by writing books and giving interviews and a deal with Netflix. They were plastered all over the news. Hence the satire on the Southpark show about the world wide privacy tour.

Forever42 · 14/04/2023 11:32

Hopefully the coronation will be the last big royal event for some time. Then if I were Harry and Meghan I would sell the huge California mansion and go and live somewhere quiet. They've put their side of the story across now so don't know what they have to gain by continuing the "feud". They could afford an amazing life somewhere off the proceeds of the documentary and the book plus Harry's vast inheritance. If they ever need more help with finances I'm sure they could get some allowance like Edward VIII used to get. Seems the ideal solution if they don't like the negative press attention.

Sudeko · 14/04/2023 11:37

No individuals are more important than the institution so if the family never backed down because Harry was trying to push Meghan's wants to the front then good for the royals.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/04/2023 11:43

... you would think Meghan was the only royal woman to be hounded, but hers was nothing in comparison to that litany and to Diana

I wouldn't say it was "nothing" as some of the coverage/comment was appalling, but as with the example of palace comments some certainly exaggerate or downplay the quantity according to taste

Even on Oprah headlines were falsified to tell the story which suited - just one more inaccuracy to go with all the rest, but no doubt useful in increasing the victim narrative among the gullible

Viviennemary · 14/04/2023 11:46

I don't think Harry has a vast inheritance. Not sure if he got anything from the Queen. And even vast inheritances don't go far given the lifestyle they lead.

LadyMuckingabout · 14/04/2023 11:49

The whole crux of the matter is they didn’t go with dignity. They could have lived like Kardashians for all most people care, swanning round galas and living opulently. We would all have ogled, but without much interest beyond a glance at the Daily Mail side bar once in a while. Fans could’ve still fanned.

But it was the Sussex Royal interlude that started off the really negative views (a period always glossed over/ignored by Fans) compounded a million times then by all the Oprah/Spare stuff.

They are the architects of all this mess and subsequent attention.

Inkanta · 14/04/2023 11:53

I'm glad that this Palace Leaking to the Press phenomenon is out there in the open now. Its the most unethical dirty awful practice and harmful - whoever's targeted . Its going to have to stop. There's no excuse for it, and this keeping royalty relevent is the most ridiculous excuse I've ever heard . Keep them relevant by mistreating them and being so disrespectful?!

well in heat or closer can't remember which, they will have to cut back on spending(yep I know its not true)

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/04/2023 12:02

Prominence and the money that goes with it?
It's true they've already made a lot out of the many "revelations", but with such a lifestyle that won't last a lifetime and whatever else they'll do to fund it remains to be seen

I'm glad that this Palace Leaking to the Press phenomenon is out there in the open now

It was always out in the open for those who cared to look, Inkanta; there's nothing new about palace machinations, which have gone on for centuries.
It's probably true that the H&M thing has brought it more to folks' attention though, and if so that's certainly something to thank them for - or would be if they weren't doing exactly the same

Inkanta · 14/04/2023 12:03

I mean yes, the royal family should be seen out and about - and I enjoyed the royal blue theme for easter, but the reporting of them should remain on that benign harmless level. More reporting of charity stuff would be good - keeping things dignified and self respecting.

Viviennemary · 14/04/2023 12:05

Harry has got a 4 book deal according to what I read. So the feud doesn't look as if it's going to end any time soon. How could it. So it isn't a question of making up. Its going to go on and on and on. And whose fault is that.

Whaeanui · 14/04/2023 12:05

It really is disappointing that despite several women of colour frequently posting why the racist element does in fact make it much worse, that regular posters are still trying to say it was equal to white women in the family. I find that position can only come from a position of privilege of not being close to it. The kind of threats she received according to corner security experts, was far greater than almost anyone else. If you don’t experience racism at any level, I guess it makes it easier to dismiss it. In addition, social media is far different today and I think even Camilla might have been scared off had it existed back in the 90’s.

Yes Harry's massive chip on his shoulder and axe to grind under the guise of various accusations and allegations has been pitiful to witness. What happened to the hardened soldier, why doesn't he posses any resilience or self awareness. Why doesn't he care about anyone else mh except his and his wife's.

Viviennemary · 14/04/2023 12:22

I know quite a few folk who were fans who are now disgusted by their behaviour.

I think an awful lot of projection goes on on these threads. I'm sorry for anyone's negative experiences in their lives but this blind support for a couple who have behaved appallingly all because she is mixed race is odd.

As has been said ad nauseam Fergie, Di, Kate, Camilla they all experienced the intense scrutiny and sneers. It isn't ok but it is exactly the same.

Do you think it's ok for Harry go nc with his fil for spilling the beans to the media then spill the beans to the media himself and wonder why no one is taking his calls? Can you honestly not see the hypocrisy here?!

Gross comment. Ignore the racism, insult the poster. I don’t ‘blindly’ do anything. I experience racism. So has she. That’s what my post was about.
