No surprise he's coming on his own to the coronation.

It can't be worse than this!

I think curtsies were designed for the days of long gowns - it does look silly when you can see the legs!

Roussette · 13/04/2023 14:52

And why can the men get away with bowing their head but the women have to do this ridiculous spectacle

Viviennemary · 13/04/2023 14:54

I'm glad she isnt coming. I did think they would probably attend and bring their children over too. But I think it's the right decision. Too much ill feeling now, i don't think it will ever be repaired. The book writing amd interviews were too much.

Anne with the King of Spain

It doesn't need to be a deep curtsy. Quick bob is fine.

Anne with the King of Spain

Good grief, her legs have given way!

Say no more !

Harry but not Meghan
ComeTheFuckOnBridgett · 13/04/2023 14:58

These curtsies are fucking dreadful 😭

Inkanta · 13/04/2023 14:58

Anyway really pleased for Meghan - and admire her courage to set the boundary to a disrespectful British press and entitled palace and say no thanks. I'm glad they won't be able to use her as a scapegoat any more that they'll be intensely frustrated that they can't drag her down for every little thing she does, or doesn't do. She won't be there. Hope she throws Archie a huge birthday party!

wordler · 13/04/2023 14:59

Euro royals go deep too!

Danish Crown Princess curtseying to the Queen of the Netherlands.

You nailed it!

Embarrassing and should be done away with.
We're 2023 ffs!

Roussette · 13/04/2023 15:01

It's just so servile and ridiculous

Whaeanui · 13/04/2023 15:01

Honestly think the curtsies in this day and age is embarrassing.

gettingoldisshit · 13/04/2023 15:02

@Samcro yes before Kate became Princess of wales they ranked the same. However not now as princess of wales is only ranked below the king and queen ( and prince of wales!!!)

wordler · 13/04/2023 15:03

I’d go the other way - let’s all start doing it again instead of the handshake! Not these deep one - just the little bob a la Jane Austen era

MaroonCow · 13/04/2023 15:03

They probably did look better in the days of long swishy skirts with lots of layers.

So agree. The vile Dan Wotton who only a week ago was saying she must not come, how dare she come, if she comes she'll be booed, is now tweeting that she's bottled it and how awful she is to deny the king his chance of seeing the GC

Well done Meghan. Deny these oxygen thiefs

Take A Bow Thank You GIF by Iliza

I will do one to you if you do one to me, but yours must be much deeper than mine!

Gilmorehill · 13/04/2023 15:12

I’m glad she’s not coming but I actually don’t know how Harry can show his face at a royal event after the book and the NF series. I doubt we will see M in the UK again.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 13/04/2023 15:16

Meghan's curtsey at the service of thanksgiving was super deep. Deep enough, I think, to include anyone in who was in the vicinity. Even Mike Tindall 😆But Anne is the queen of the deep curtsey. Only Theresa May comes (painfully) close !!!!

Roussette · 13/04/2023 15:16

He told her not to come and now he's launching a blistering attack when she says she isn't coming.
And this is what she has to put up eithy

YES to this @Inkanta and @Roussette

They will slam her whatever she does. This way, at least she's not made the scapegoat, and, even if they do, they don't benefit from 24 stories a day featuring new pictures of her face.

There is speculation that she may go to the Met ball on 2 May, If that happens, oh boy. The veins will be popping on angry foreheads on a television screen near you.

But what is certain is that the next time we see her will be the Ms Foundation awards with Gloria Steinem at the end of May.

Agree. It's so important to set boundaries with toxic in-laws. Good for Meghan!

hopelessbuthopeful · 13/04/2023 15:49

The gutter press will have nothing to write about which is why they are frothing at the mouth.

Nono22972 · 13/04/2023 15:53

I'm happy Meghan is not going and Harry should've done the same. Regardless if you're a royalist or a republican, I think it's weird that he's showing up after spending 2 years trashing the monarchy publicly.

He also gaslighted the public for 2 years with his racism claims putting, not only the monarchy, but the UK in a bad light only for him to later backtrack.

I know he's the King's son but it is a state event, not a family event. After everything he said, I still can't believe he's actually going to show up

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/04/2023 15:57

As a family they should be saying enough is enough, the press are out of control

I certainly don't disagree about the press, but what exactly do you expect them to do about it given that the RF need the coverage?

Obviously actual illegality's off and it's open to them to do something about that, but otherwise I can't quite see any attempted censorship going down well - especially when they get away with more than enough as it is

And then what about real cesspits like Twitter, etc? As with the print media you'd hope most would have the sense to see it for the slurry it is, but sadly it's not always so - and if they'd struggle to shut down the press, good luck with the worst types of social media
