No surprise he's coming on his own to the coronation.

The Royal Family or King Charles cannot afford the security for them.

Neither the Royal family nor King Charles are responsible for, nor pay for, security for those attending the Coronation, so this is clearly not a factor.

Nono22972 · 12/04/2023 19:33

It may be harsh but I think Harry needs to completely cut ties with his family after this. For the past 2 years, he's been on his sympathy tour, telling the whole world how horrible his family is. A possible reconciliation seems impossible. I'm sure he loves them and wanted his children to get to know them and have a close relationship with their cousins but I don't think that'll happen. He should continue to build his life in the US and fully focus on his wife and providing a good and happy life for his children

You're right, @Serenster . I would imagine that being in the Abbey on Coronation Day would be literally one of the safest places on earth - the security will be top notch.

My bet is .........

JEWELS.

Tiara Gate all over again. 😅😁

But no matter what she does she will be wrong.

And no matter what he does he will be the center of attention.

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 12/04/2023 19:38

It's a shame C couldn't roll out the carpet for his own grandchildren. I hope Diana is watching over them!

Jesus Christ, the DC are 4 and 2. They were invited along with their DPs. You sound derranged

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/04/2023 19:42

Wouldn't surprise me if William and Kate had some leverage

Once again we'll never know, but I can't deny having wondered this myself - after all, as the direct heir of an elderly father I'd expect William to have quite a lot of say these days, and he's also the one on whom a lot of Harry's ire has been focused

Of course I could be wrong and William may have been lobbying heavily for them both to attend, but frankly that seems a bit of a stretch

All right - I am confused!

Reading this thread it seems that the children of H&M are not invited (too young). Fine.

But if they come they with their parents for a visit they would need security. Not for the event but just for the duration of a visit?

That could well be a reason for them not coming. It seems to have been a huge cause of arguments

Or am I reading all of this stuff incorrectly?

BlackFriday · 12/04/2023 19:43

" I hope Diana is watching over them!"

WTF? And how, exactly, do you think that would help? (If it was even a thing?)

fragolino · 12/04/2023 19:50

@Theeaglesoared

No. His life was an absolute dogs dinner. It was atrocious and he had an awful childhood by anyone's standard.

He is now married to a woman he absolutely adores.
He has two beautiful children.
He lives in sunny California.

Hopefully after this event he can focus on his own life and what he really wants to do. He is very very brave. He has taken the road less traveled.

Inkanta · 12/04/2023 19:50

Ahh just caught up on this news. Brave Harry. Feel a bit sorry for him.

They came for the Jubilee and the funeral. I'm going to say that security is not an issue. The children would be very safe with a nanny in the Palace for the duration of the service. They all would be ferried in secure cars to and fro.

fragolino · 12/04/2023 19:51

@Inkanta agree. He is tremendously brave.

Inkanta · 12/04/2023 19:57

Harry gets to attend and hopefully will be in a sort of Prince Edward and Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank sandwich and they will be good friendly company to him and he actually might even enjoy the service a bit

Yes I like that thought.

"She was the People's Princess" I don't think TB ever made a better speech tbh.

Hear, hear, @fragolino . Regardless of how people feel about H& M, I think most want Harry to get on with his life and leave the past behind. Keep moving forward.

Sudeko · 12/04/2023 20:01

The two cousins are old muckers but based on recent comments, Fergie is wary of Meghan so I bet Eugenie shares some reservations as Fergie is quite perceptive in general.

Really why do you say this?

I mean in the lottery of life he seems ok to me

KillerSandy · 12/04/2023 20:02

Roussette · 12/04/2023 17:06

Harry's tardiness in sending in his RSVP should have discounted him from attending instead of allowing him to call the shots. Just so rude!

You do realize that is just media making up stories? The RF have probably known for a while and are just waiting until they make a statement. Like now

How do you know ?

fragolino · 12/04/2023 20:02

Marsh's really?
Would you want his childhood for any child?
How can anyone's bar be set so low.

Whaeanui · 12/04/2023 20:04

Fergie is quite perceptive in general.

😂😂😂😂😂 she also says Andrew is an honourable man.

HeddaGarbled · 12/04/2023 20:06

I think this is the right decision. It would be so sad if Harry missed his dad’s big day but the Queen’s funeral was a good indicator of how it would be if Meghan came too. Uncomfortable for everyone.

This is a wise and diplomatic compromise.

oh yes she's a wonderful judge of character Grin
