No surprise he's coming on his own to the coronation.

Poor Harry. He really has made a bit of a dog's dinner of his life.

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 18:42

On the contrary. Unlike most of his family he looks like he has a very happy marriage.

@Roussette @Samcro @PreparationPreparationPrep

Have you seen Twitter? Dan Wootton doing a sad face about Meghan "bottling it", and what a shame she is depriving Charles of the opportunity to see his kids ...

Twitter mercilessly remind him that he wrote a few weeks ago that neither of them should come ...

It's an overused word, I know, but the derangement is real!

!!!

Talk about a tail spin of frustration.

I will check now , but this reaction was sooooo predictable. Those who apparently didn't want Meghan to come are in a frenzy trying to tell us how much they really, really are so happy she isn't coming and we also need to know why they are sooo pleased. 😀 and let's not forget the Oprah interview.

If she was coming it would have been the same frenzy.

But I believe Meghan has done the right thing to keep her children home. They can watch daddy on TV.

But whether Harry stays 2 days or 10 you can predict it's Meghan's fault 🤣

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 12/04/2023 18:45

Good. He should not come either. They wanted out of the pageantry etc but chose to lumber their Dc with titles despite the fact that their cousins who didn't receive them seem to have a far better shot at privacy whilst still being part of the family, but not the institution. and are out, they should just live their lives with their beautiful dc.

Far from making me think less of the RF it has raised my opinion of MM, normally she behaves like a raving hypocrite. By not coming there is consistency. Being part of the institutional pageantry and the press focus on that made her suicidal, so why would she put herself in the middle of it?

Charles and Camilla have been booed more Han Harry and Meghan ever where, seeing as how they have been booed at just about every public appearance, with more booing expected at the Coronation. You are so, so right @purpledalmation , booing is so bad for Charles and Camilla's brand.

@vera99

Wow those Telegraph comments.

His kingship starting on a troubling note for the traditionalists: as Alison says, he needs to appeal to the traditionalists (read middle-class, Tory, who don't like anything "woke" or "forrin") But in his heart, he sees himself as a modernist, he is interested in other faiths, the climate, net zero, he was shocked at the Rwanda plan, now he has supported the slavery research, he sees himself I think as someone who wants to do things, rather than just be ... I don't think he is "woke" at all but he is too "woke" for his core base. and those comments indicate, that te disgruntled will express displeasure through the whole Queen Camilla business.

At the same time, he can't be his mother, but the Royal Family really needs to get into this century. Enter Harry and Meghan.

Oops, exit Harry and Meghan.

Oh well.

Yup he seems to be losing much of the core vote whilst not seeming to notice that Camilla is nicking the spoons.

I do hope he doesn't have pen trouble again on the day. After all it's "every stinking time'' and it is probably a Coronation Quill taken from a Royal Swan raised specially for this occasion on the Royal Estate.

I hope he had his arse handed to him on a plate! He's one of the worst

Is there any need to be so vulgar?

Nono22972 · 12/04/2023 18:47

@AskMeMore, Most of his family?

Charles and Camilla are definitely a love match and have been in love for over 50 years

I've never heard anything about Anne and her husband. They seem happy. Same with Edward and Sophie.

As for the next generation, only Peter divorced. Zara/Peter seem happy, Eugenie is happily married and pregnant, Beatrice is happily married.

As for the Waleses, despite the rumours, they seem to be okay. We don't know what's going on behind closed doors

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 12/04/2023 18:47

Theeaglesoared · 12/04/2023 18:40

Poor Harry. He really has made a bit of a dog's dinner of his life.

He's stupid, not poor. He made his choices and is an adult. He has so much privilege his life is so easy comparative to the majority.

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 18:48

@Nono22972 There have been a lot of divorces in the family. A lot.

Nono22972 · 12/04/2023 18:50

I'm glad that he's going. That's his father.
It's too bad that Meghan is not going but I get it. It's a state event, the kids are definitely too young and would be bored the whole time. This whole rift is sad. Hopefully, one day, they'll reconcile

HamBone · 12/04/2023 18:51

It is going to look sad as well as incongruous, to have so much of his family not there - especially when Camilla's DC and DGC are given centrality at the occasion.

@Livingtothefull It is sad, but M & H haven’t wanted to be involved with the RF since 2020 so we should be getting used to it at this point.

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 18:52

Charles, Anne, Andrew all divorced. Edward was the only one who did not.
I hope Eugenie and Beatrice are happy, but it is far too soon to know if their marriages will last a long time.
Lots of rumours about William and Kate
Peter divorced
Zara seems okay

There is nothing wrong with getting divorced, but it is a lot of divorces. Half of the marriages have led to divorce. A far higher rate of divorce than the general population.

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 18:53

@Nono22972 The kids are not invited to any of it.

Echobelly · 12/04/2023 18:53

Probably the most diplomatic way to play it, and also protecting Megan. If she were to come there'd be pages and pages dedicated to how she wore the 'wrong' thing, smiled the 'wrong' way, made herself the centre of attention (without doing anything in particular), wasn't 'respectful' etc etc.

astarsheis · 12/04/2023 18:54

Going by the way Meghan has been treated by the British Royals and their subjects, I would bother coming back to the UK either...would just show them a big fat finger 😉

Pedallleur · 12/04/2023 18:55

Damned if she comes and damned if she doesn't. The usual press will make of it what they want to. Best he comes. It's his father and THE day for his father and THE family. Also got to keep in with the family jic he needs their help. No need to be a pariah, they have one of those lurking about.

Nono22972 · 12/04/2023 18:55

@AskMeMore, So? We're talking about the current couples.

His dad, aunt and uncle divorced almost 30 years ago but since then, there's only been 1 divorce.

I'm so pleased he is going! It's his birth right and he needs footage to show his dc one day.

I'm glad he is taking his rightful place in history.

However it's a real loss that Megan and the dc won't be there to also take their place in history

Also Megan could have out shone them on the out fit front.

Efrogwraig · 12/04/2023 18:57

l don't care.

fragolino · 12/04/2023 18:58

She should have gone this is far greater than making statement to Charles.
He won't be around for long she should have take her place in history.

Pedallleur · 12/04/2023 18:58

It was Mont Blanc pen Charles had issues with recently

Her and Harry maybe divorced in ten years who knows. She should have gone and shone.

Nailsandthesea · 12/04/2023 19:00

It’s a pressure cooker environment. Not surprised on the sheer number of divorces. And you can’t tell what goes on.

He wanted to step back (Harry) and Meghan but didn’t return their titles and demanded them for their children / that seems the opposite - either you are in or out.
I doubt she will step foot on British soil again.
He could have come with the children and the lateness of the decision suggests they were bartering up until the last minute. He has demanded an apology but wasn’t given one. Effectively Charles wanted peace in a few years of reign.

I expect Harry will be put next to Eugenie and Beatrice so he doesn’t get booed. He will fly in and out on private jet and then straight home.

I also expect that no one will want to speak to him and like most narcissistic people you can’t communicate with them as everything gets twisted.
