No surprise he's coming on his own to the coronation.

It’s Archie’s bday so no doubt part of the reason, a very small part. Not sure why a woman always gets the blame when Harry has wanted to break free from it all for years.

That is the most sane post I have read on this thread. Thank you

Exhibity · 12/04/2023 18:18

The whole thing is very sad .

Couchpotato3 · 12/04/2023 18:20

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 18:17

@Couchpotato3 It is simply not true that the whole Coronation weekend is unsuitable for children.
The grandchildren were not invited as Charles has zero interest in them.
Camilla is making sure her family are well represented though.

Did I suggest that the whole weekend was unsuitable? And you know for a fact that Charles isn't interested in his grandchildren, do you? Right.

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 18:20

@Couchpotato3 He rarely sees them. Even William has said he rarely sees his children.

Whaeanui · 12/04/2023 18:21

The grandchildren were not invited as Charles has zero interest in them. You have no idea if either of those things are true at all.

I think Meghan not being there makes me think less of the royal family tbh.

I don’t understand why. She was invited but chose not to come. I see all this as a family matter and hope in the long run they are able to sort things out. I expect the King will be pleased that Harry is attending.

It’s not the breaking free that’s the problem. It’s the dirt dishing and the money they’ve made from trashing the reputation of the RF. And he had years to break free before he met Meghan.

Mumwomansisterdaughter · 12/04/2023 18:25

Good for her , I wouldn’t come if they paid me ! The way they treated her and the children .

googlejourney · 12/04/2023 18:26

@Mumwomansisterdaughter

Can you explain what you mean by how they treated the children?

Sudeko · 12/04/2023 18:27

A lot of people making a lot of baseless assumptions about why she isn't coming depending on whether they are fans or not.

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 12/04/2023 18:27

If she had been on the balcony she would be there. She would have been just one of the crowd so staying home snd can't Blame her for that. She clearly hated the UK snd her role in the royal family.

Harry should come but I don't expect anyone to really talk to him as he's such a bloody gossip.

This over I hope they go back to the states shut the fuck up snd have a happy life.

I am sick of them

Abra1t · 12/04/2023 18:28

The birthday is a complete non-factor. At about-to-be four no child is going to mind if you tell them birthday presents, cake and party are happening the day before the real day.

Up to M if she attends or not, though. Reasonable to stay away if she wants.

PatchworkElmer · 12/04/2023 18:28

I wouldn’t miss my child’s birthday either.

Anonymouseposter · 12/04/2023 18:28

The media will be nasty about Meghan whatever she does so I can’t blame her for not coming and giving them the opportunity to put a negative spin on everything.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 12/04/2023 18:29

purpledalmation · 12/04/2023 18:14

Well at least we only have to put up with the ginger whinger and not Harry's wife. I'm sure she didn't want to come because of a repeat of the booing. Not good for the brand.

Charles and Camilla have been booed more Han Harry and Meghan ever where, seeing as how they have been booed at just about every public appearance, with more booing expected at the Coronation. You are so, so right @purpledalmation , booing is so bad for Charles and Camilla's brand.

@vera99

Wow those Telegraph comments.

His kingship starting on a troubling note for the traditionalists: as Alison says, he needs to appeal to the traditionalists (read middle-class, Tory, who don't like anything "woke" or "forrin") But in his heart, he sees himself as a modernist, he is interested in other faiths, the climate, net zero, he was shocked at the Rwanda plan, now he has supported the slavery research, he sees himself I think as someone who wants to do things, rather than just be ... I don't think he is "woke" at all but he is too "woke" for his core base. and those comments indicate, that te disgruntled will express displeasure through the whole Queen Camilla business.

At the same time, he can't be his mother, but the Royal Family really needs to get into this century. Enter Harry and Meghan.

Oops, exit Harry and Meghan.

Oh well.

PatchworkElmer · 12/04/2023 18:28

I wouldn’t miss my child’s birthday either.

He could be with the nanny at the Palace. The coronation is only an hour long.

PrettyMaybug · 12/04/2023 18:32

I think it's sad she's not coming. Sad

TrashyPanda · 12/04/2023 18:32

Roussette · 12/04/2023 16:58

A fake pregnancy bump like actors use

I thought it might be a new dance for the coronation - the moonwalk done to Do the Bump by Kenny

probably more chance of that than of Meghan using a fake bump.

Well I am grinning at some the posts on this thread, I wonder who attended briefings or who is actually making up shit and then blaming it on "leaks".
Hmmm!

Roussette · 12/04/2023 18:14

I don't feel sorry for Thomas. Not in the slightest. Surprised you do

I don't. I said I feel sorry for the little ones having those parents and grandfather's.

Charles, William and Harry are all woke hypocrites.

Charles overshadowed a child on their birthday.

Meghan taking the piss.

A bunch of twits, the lot of them.

MarshaBradyo · 12/04/2023 18:33

Oh well there you go. Him not her

It’s all good fodder

AmandaHoldensLips · 12/04/2023 18:34

Who on earth would want to drag two small kids on a long-haul flight to a bunfight like that? It will be a gruelling schedule, every minute of it with barking orders and wall-to-wall media. The coronation is going to be HUGE with not a moment of down time.

Frankly I think we'd all rather enjoy hanging out in a sunshine-filled Montecito mansion with kids running around while we watch the spectacle unfold on TV with a full running commentary, lovely food laid out in the kitchen, and no queuing for a wee.

Excellent decision on their behalf. I'm sure it will be a special day in their house, just like it will be in so many of ours.

Livingtothefull · 12/04/2023 18:34

Couchpotato3 · 12/04/2023 18:15

Newsflash: Couple invited to big family event, not suitable for children. Event conflicts with child's birthday. Husband attends event as it's his family. Wife stays home to organise child's birthday. It's hardly controversial, is it? I think they are a pair of idiots, but getting arsey over their attendance at the Coronation is daft. The kids are too young to remember it and would be a nightmare to manage, and why should they have to be dragged half way around the world for something they can't even attend, and on one of their birthdays. Complete non-news, non-story, non-event. Find something else to froth about, people!

It's not just a 'big family event' though is it? It is a state occasion. If you are going to have an hereditary monarchy then the fact is that all KC's immediate family have a right to and would be expected to be there. Even though the children are too young to be at the ceremony, you would think he would want all his grandchildren to be around.

It is going to look sad as well as incongruous, to have so much of his family not there - especially when Camilla's DC and DGC are given centrality at the occasion.

Further on the subject of families though: if my in laws had allowed me to be repeatedly publicly badmouthed - culminating in a very public joke about my 3 year old DC being murdered - and made no protest about it, nothing would induce me to be their guest either.

Maybe Andrew can be his bodyguard.

😂😂😂

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 18:35

Camilla's family will all have prominent places.
It would not surprise me if one or more of them is given a title in a few years time.
