No surprise he's coming on his own to the coronation.

I so agree with you.

I agree too

But what will those of us who can't stand either family do though ?

Continue to enjoy your loathing and your sense of moral superiority, I suppose.

A quick Google search will easily answer that.

I've just pulled up Adele, Elton John, The Spice Girls, Kylie, Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, Robbie Williams, and David Dimbleby.

Apparently they all have better things to do. And Kylie, at least, is sensitive to a groundswell of anti-monarchy sentiment in her native Australia.

Phew, I thought David Dimbleby would be singing for a moment 😮

Serenster · 12/04/2023 17:48

I don't think Rishi himself would say that he got there with the unreserved blessing of his own party, let alone the wider public.

You could say the same of Camilla (many posters say far worse!). What’s your point?

Maireas · 12/04/2023 17:50

Whaaaat?! David Dimbleby isn't singing? I'm not going now.

x2boys · 12/04/2023 17:50

marshmallowsforbreakfast · 12/04/2023 16:56

You'll all hate me for saying this, but I honestly wonder if they've separated. I feel sorry for Harry going on his own, it can't be easy to face that tension (however much of his own making) alone. She wasn't very visible at all during his book launch. What ever you may think of her, nobody can argue she doesn't like the limelight.

You lot would just love that 🙄

Sceptre86 · 12/04/2023 17:51

The wife is always the bad one leading the husband astray. God forbid he make his own decisions. Why keep it on their son's birthday? This was engineered to make it difficult for them to come. She's better off staying away. I however have no doubt a photo of Archie will be released as they are engaged in a tit for tat.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 12/04/2023 16:49

I don’t think she is pregnant, she stated in the Oprah interview that that there would be no more if I remember correctly, I can’t see them having a third child at all.

It's not environmentally friendly to have a other child ... oh wait ... they just preach, they don't practice!

viques · 12/04/2023 17:52

I expect it will be on tv in the States. Meghan can have a celebration party for all her friends, like Eurovision but without the point scoring.

Meghan's attendance as a family member would have been a visually powerful message to many international viewers that the royals can manage to integrate a poc into their inner sanctum. Even if they share the blame for why she divorced their family, it is not a good look for them on an occasion when they will be put under the microscope for a review of their legacy.

Exhibity · 12/04/2023 17:54

I don't think the coronation was purposely booked on the same day as Archie's birthday on purpose.

She was invited though, wasn't she ?

RamsayEaster · 12/04/2023 17:56

If she came she would be accused of making it the Megan show
She doesn’t come and gets slammed for it
Give the woman a break

toomuchlaundry · 12/04/2023 17:37

@SerafinasGoose who else has turned down their invitation?

Alan Titchmarsh didnt make the cut apparently, though I suppose he could be on the second string list in the event of no shows or last minute positive Covid testers. If this was MN he would be all huffy and would refuse to go to the evening do………

Actually, a lot of this was blown up and out of proportion by the so-called Sussex Squad on Twitter. They had one of their 'campaigns' where they started naming random performers and claiming they weren't coming to the concert. There were even specific hashtags.

Then they all shared and liked to make it trend and it was taken up by internet news orgs and tabloids and spun into stories with headlines like "Charles was desperate to have Ed Sheeran play at the Coronation but he turned him down"

Ed Sheeran had to come out officially and say it wasn't true, that neither him not his team had been approached by the palace or concert organizers.

The reports you google all have anonymous sources saying Charles really wanted x,y,z performing etc - it reads like spin.

Hazelnuttella · 12/04/2023 15:39

Of course they wouldn’t be booed.

Meghan is probably not coming so she isn’t accused of stealing the limelight.

Although I’m sure there will be plenty of press coverage about her staying quietly at home, and accusing her of taking attention away from the coronation by not attending 🙃

If Meghan is photographed anywhere that weekend she will be accused of stealing the limelight.

Serenster · 12/04/2023 17:58

You’ve pulled up a list of people who aren’t appearing. Can you also show us that they were in fact invited?

Kylie, who was it seems invited, gave a statement saying she wouldn’t be in the UK at the time. No one else has said they were invited. Ed Sheeran in fact put out a statement saying he’s never actually been approached to appear at the concert. The Spice Girls last performed together 11 years ago. I also didn’t realise that David Dimbleby was a singer…🤣

Watch your Google results.

Ed Sheeran put out a statement saying he hadn't been invited to perform at all, but that he unfortunately wouldn't be able to due to previously scheduled concerts.

Roussette · 12/04/2023 16:57

They always said they'd only have two didn't they!?

@Roussette
Yes, I remember Harry being quoted as saying "two......max".
Not wanting to contribute to overpopulation, being that he's very concerned about that issue, plus climate change, etc, etc.............whilst travelling in private jets.......😉

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 17:59

@wordler That would be more believable if they had any big stars for the concert. They don't.

I thought Bette Midler was appearing? I would rather see her than Ed Sheeran, not that I am invited.

googlejourney · 12/04/2023 18:02

I do think this will be a very difficult trip for Harry to make alone, he will not receive a warm welcome from his family or the public. The coronation will be a reminder of everything he has thrown away, being part of the most famous family in the world.

The choices he made were initially to protect Meghan, but spiralled into something very nasty from his part, he has been ill advised by those around him and made some very damaging decisions, he is now facing the music alone and that is going to be pretty harrowing for him.

jamdonut · 12/04/2023 18:05

kirinm · 12/04/2023 15:41

I think Meghan not being there makes me think less of the royal family tbh.

I don’t understand this view. She was invited, wasn’t she? I think this will be a flying visit for Harry. …his get out clause is that it’s Archie’s birthday. I think under the circumstances, this is the best scenario all round.

Sudeko · 12/04/2023 18:05

He won't stay long enough to experience those regrets. He is probably protecting himself by visiting for a day or two. He is visiting alone so he won't get many more headlines for visiting for longer. It will be awkward for Camilla after what he said about her!

Were you hoping for a personal catch up with Meghan that weekend?

😂actually made me splutter my tea.
