Harry and Meghan still not replied to Coronation Invitation

Harry and Meghan still haven't replied to the invitation to the coronation even though the RSPV deadline has passed. If it's true I think it's a bit rude. They know the preparation that goes into these events. It must be a headache for the planners not to know if they are coming or not.

Apparently Arche and Lilibet aren't invited to the actual ceremony as they are deemed to be too young. My bet is they will all come to the UK for the coronation but who knows. Not heard if Andrew is coming or not. And Fergie. Will she be there. Maybe behind a pillar.

It's all so cringeworthy. So similar to the will he/ won't he regarding Markle senior and the wedding. It's like history repeating itself albeit with a different event.

Wish he'd stay away, he loathes them all, why on earth bother if it's not for reality show no. 2 content. I bet the rf will all treat him graciously though despite his constant gossiping.

Serenster · 12/04/2023 16:45

Omid Scobie has said that Harry will only be attending the Coronation ceremony and nothing else. Long way to come for an hour!

Whaeanui · 12/04/2023 16:46

He’s here for a trial too around then isn’t he?

Of course. Front page shots $$$, no need to mess about trying to make amends with his family.

You'd have thought they'd both come or neither. I think I'd support my dh if his family were allegedly so horrid.

Dinopawus · 12/04/2023 16:49

I have a feeling that the Coronation isn't going to peak public interest in quite the way the media & companies with tat to flog are hoping.

I mean I'm happy to have an extra bank holiday, but I won't be spending it watching a long religious service on tv.

Harry is keeping his little toe in the door for hopeful handouts and Meghan is wisely staying well away.

Sudeko · 12/04/2023 16:56

She would have raised audience figures because she is branded the controversial one. It would have been more interesting to have the whole family there.

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 17:00

I do not think the Coronation will get high viewing figures. Although no doubt count anyone turning the TV on for a minute or two towards viewing figures,

PreparationPreparationPrep · 12/04/2023 17:04

They will massage the viewing figures but in reality most people will be enjoying the bank holiday elsewhere and at best will catch highlights in the news.

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 17:06

Of course he is only going to attend the Coronation ceremony. He was never going to be part of the procession. Why would he attend events like the concert where he would be publicly snubbed by some members of his family? No reason for him to attend anything else. He is not a working Royal after all.

wordler · 12/04/2023 17:07

Viewing figures are more complicated nowadays as you have to track across mobile devices and platforms, as well as TV stations. I always watch a YouTube stream because that's the most stable in my house. Sometimes I pick the BBC one on Youtube if I want to hear the commentary or the basic feed if I just want it on in the background.

Serenster · 12/04/2023 17:08

Non-working royals generally attend these events too though - I would expect most of his cousins will be there.

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 17:09

@Serenster I am sure some will be there, but not all of them.
Why should he attend?

I think they will massage the viewing figures as well.

It’s funny how much people go on about the Oprah interview but not Andrews car crash one that clearly would have been painful viewing for the Queen. Especially as he made two claims he could never prove, 1 that he couldn’t sweat, and 2 that he was at Pizza Hut that night. That was a much more damaging interview than all 3 Oprah ones done by others.

There have been multiple threads about this.

None are active at the moment, because there isn't really anything more to be said. Other than the hope that he keeps largely out of sight, though his presence will be tolerated at the huge and the family events. (You could always start another if you think there's an angle that hasn't been sufficiently aired)

I think it's a shame the wider Sussex family aren't coming. It could have been a good chance for the DC to meet all their cousins, and to have a lovely birthday party with them in the afternoon (plus bonus second celebrations for the birthday once back in the States)

HeddaGarbled · 12/04/2023 17:11

They will massage the viewing figures

Ah, yes, the dastardly “they”.

Who's "they"?

And how will they subvert the organisations responsible, not just all the staff involved but also all the computer processes?

Whaeanui · 12/04/2023 17:12

@WinnieTheW0rm well there’s nothing new to be said about the Oprah interview but it’s talked about here every day

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 17:12

@WinnieTheW0rm I am sure they do see Eugenie and Beatrice and their children anyway. There is no way in hell Harry and William are going to socialise with their families together. Its just not going to happen. And since Charles was reportedly too busy to have a phone call with Harry, I doubt he would meet them and socialise either.

Yes and let's not forget he doesn't like them and has been treated appallingly according to his plethora of moan fests. I wouldn't want to mingle with folk who had a posh apartment either while my sofa was a cheapo IKEA one.

He'll be going to the ceremony for the media coverage. He will then scuttle off to LA and await chat show hosts ringing up for exclusives.

As I said - start another Andrew thread then.

How exactly? All viewing figures are independently sourced and verified by BARB.

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 17:15

Easy to massage the viewing figures. Change the definition of viewing to include anyone watching the Coronation for longer than 5 seconds, including on the TV news.
Definitions are everything.

Whaeanui · 12/04/2023 17:16

@WinnieTheW0rm no I don’t want to. The Oprah interview is mentioned in threads completely unrelated to it or even Harry & Meghan. Which is the point I’m making, their interview mentioned repeatedly, the way more disastrous one from Andrew is rarely.

Inkpotlover · 12/04/2023 17:17

Now you sound utterly ridiculous. The way viewing figures are collated are controlled by an independent company called BARB. They're not going to change how they've been checking figures of ALL programmes for decades just to piss off H & M supporters. 😂

AskMeMore · 12/04/2023 17:20

BARD are not independent. They are owned by a partnership of BBC and Channel 4 and 5.
