Harry and Meghan still not replied to Coronation Invitation

Harry and Meghan still haven't replied to the invitation to the coronation even though the RSPV deadline has passed. If it's true I think it's a bit rude. They know the preparation that goes into these events. It must be a headache for the planners not to know if they are coming or not.

Apparently Arche and Lilibet aren't invited to the actual ceremony as they are deemed to be too young. My bet is they will all come to the UK for the coronation but who knows. Not heard if Andrew is coming or not. And Fergie. Will she be there. Maybe behind a pillar.

Fifteen people on the balcony apparently.

Says who?

KC & QC

If working royals (plus spouses) then that's:
the Wales ( 2 or 5 depending on inclusion of offspring)
the Princess Royal (+spouse),
the Edinburghs
the Gloucesters
the Kents
Princess Alexandra (+spouse)

So the number does look about right

Viviennemary · 07/04/2023 20:44

Heres the list

Charles and camilla
william and kate and 3 children
Anne and timothy Lawrence
Princess Alexandra
Duke of Kent
Sophie and Edward
Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

Thats the list I read

I didnt even know Princess Alexandra's husband had died. In 2004.

Oh sorry - mind in neutral. I did know that Angus Ogilvy had died, but it slipped my mind whilst I was typing.

No Duchess of Kent on the list?

Viviennemary · 07/04/2023 21:18

No. But she is 90 and withdrew quite a few years ago from royal life. Didnt realise she was 90.

I can’t believe there are people so invested in strangers (whom they dislike) that they can recall and then identify a trashy magazine article from years ago as if it were a key reference from their PhD with which they were intimately familiar.

Absolutely unhinged behaviour.

Viviennemary · 07/04/2023 19:54

Why don't they just reply instrad of ramping up all the speculation. That would be too easy. Sigh.

I can't believe I'm reading this, This is just bloody madness - "why don't' they just reply" 🤣

Anyone would think this was your birthday party!

Roussette · 07/04/2023 12:19

Good old Daily Mail. Let's make stuff up cos we haven't seen Meghan for months and we've got to fill our paper with absolute dross.

Yes and it means certain people who pretend not to be obsessed by Meghan and Harry will keep clicking on their pages.

Furries · 08/04/2023 02:00

Weirdly, in everyday life, it’s polite and helpful to RSVP. especially when it’s now 4 weeks until the event.

For an average party, it’s a PITA if you’re not sure if a family member is coming. For an event on this scale it’s another level. I do have empathy for the planners, events are not a fun role to be coordinating!

The balcony stuff should not even be a consideration. They’re not working royals.

What are you talking about? Why is this board’s anti Meghan & Harry brigade so invested in @Roussette ??? Even when she barely says anything it’s attack after attack. Grow up.

mixedrecycling · 08/04/2023 08:35

Rousette is happy to point out other people's inconsistencies and evasions. Which is fair enough. But other people are allowed to point out any inconsistencies or evasions by Rousette.

'attack after attack' is a bit of an over reaction.

Whaeanui · 08/04/2023 08:39

It isn’t, I’ve corresponded with MNHQ over it and a lot of attacks have been removed in the last week. But the comment above isn’t even accurate. Like MN said the last thread it went too far on, play the ball not the person.

mixedrecycling · 08/04/2023 08:43

To go back to the original topic, the 2,000 people invited includes 'over 850 people with community and charity roles'. Over 850 people with community and charity roles to attend king’s coronation | King Charles III | The Guardian

Do they all get the privilege of the invitation remaining open if they don't RSVP? I suspect not. But of course Harry and Meghan must have as long as they want to reply...

Over 850 people with community and charity roles to attend king’s coronation

Guests will include more than 450 British Empire Medal recipients, many of whom helped in Covid lockdowns

I do wish people would fuck off with the accusations of people who are fed up with H&M and their mind games, lies, PR shit, being 'obsessed'.

The people who are really obsessed are the ones defending them and posting on here all day every day. Just get a life and stop being obsessed!

StormzyinaTCup · 08/04/2023 08:58

If I felt I was constantly 'attacked' on a forum by a load of randoms who didn't know me from Adam and I was regularly having to report people then it's very unlikely it would be somewhere I would frequent on a daily basis. There are a 1001 other forums out there if you aren't happy, life is too short to put up with 'attacks' from strangers. Just saying.

@purpledalmation yes, certain posters do comes across as obsessed.

Whaeanui · 08/04/2023 09:09

I think being ‘obsessed’ with writing nastiness based on rumours and tabloids is far more of a concern than being ‘obsessed’ with defending people. I know it upsets people that they can’t just write nasty, hateful comments, and a lot of lies based on Reddit threads, without challenge. None of us get to control this board though. However the owner of this forum, who has publicly spoken out against this board, has rules about how this forum works and that’s what we do have to abide by. Telling someone they should just not engage if people are attacking them sounds familiar doesn’t it. Bullying people off the board doesn’t always work though.

Rhondaa · 08/04/2023 09:17

'I think being ‘obsessed’ with writing nastiness based on rumours and tabloids is far more of a concern than being ‘obsessed’ with defending people'

Criticising him based on his many media appearances and his trashy book invading other people's privacy is not obsessing, it not hating, it is not racism. It is calling him out which i know must be hard to accept but he puts all his hypocritical crap out there! He does that. Many of course are going to say wtaf.

Whaeanui · 08/04/2023 09:23

.It is calling him out

I disagree. I think posting lies from Reddit and fake documents has nothing to do with calling anyone out. For example. I think a thread on something he said as a child has nothing to do with calling him out. I could go on.

rattymol · 08/04/2023 09:25

Purpledalmation slightly ironic for you to say some people spend too much time here.

StormzyinaTCup · 08/04/2023 09:26

I'm not telling someone they should not engage, I'm just trying to understand why you would want to and to that extent if you don't like it? There is no badge of honour involved (or at least not that I'm aware of). I just find it odd.

Whaeanui · 08/04/2023 09:31

I find it way stranger to camp out on a board to write negativity. Maybe @Roussette just doesn’t feel like giving in to bullies? Why should she leave? If people break the guidelines by attacking her then why is the answer to that to leave, rather than report? Plenty of posters disagree with her without attacking her and are mostly friendly even when disagreeing.

Howsimplywonderful · 08/04/2023 09:36

Good post as ever from Serenster. It will be interesting to see the revelations in the new book, the first ones are quite interesting.

MrsFinkelstein · 08/04/2023 09:56

I would imagine (hope) that they have responded to the invitation by now. They are under no obligation to publicly announce their intentions (in the same way neither are The Palace to announce who has or hasn't accepted).

It's just good manners to RSVP by a date given for any event, so I'm sure they have. If they haven't then they're really bloody annoying and rude. Dealing with unsure numbers at a kids birthday party at a soft play is annoying enough, an event like this is choreographed to the nth degree.

I don't need to be privy to any discussion (nor do I want to be), but it's be sad on a personal level if a son wouldn't be there at such a momentous event in his father's life.

That's the list I read too.

Also a comment that's it's a public "thank you" to some of them for their service over the years, and to mark their "retirement" from public life.

I'd imagine that's the Duke of Kent & Princess Alexandria.
