The level of defensiveness from some posters about two privately educated, insanely rich and privileged people, who have been proven to be lairs, is quite something to behold.

Dragonsmother · 31/03/2023 11:35

If only there was a law to ban media and social media bullying.

@MamoruHisaishi no I don’t believe you actually. You say you’d feel bad if you hurt peoples feelings but you’ve written some pretty terrible things knowing that you’re adding to a mountain of hate that caused Meghan to be suicidal. Besides, you haven’t read it so you have no clue what you’re talking about. Please don’t tag me about it again until you’ve read it because there’s no discussion to be had otherwise.

I'm hurting your feelings because I criticised Harry? I'm hurting Harry’s feelings because I dared to criticize him, a public figure? I criticize him for his own behaviour and words, my dislike for him stems from his own public actions and since he chose to be in the spotlight, he can't control what other people think of him. We aren't slaves, Harry may like the idea of being an autocrat where he gets to dictate how others think of him, but luckily there is such a thing as free speech even if thinks it's bonkers.

What has that got to do with anything? As we all should know, mental illness can affect anyone. I don’t care if someone is rich or poor, privately educated or not, if I feel like they’re being mistreated then I’ll say so. How weird to judge people based on their money and schooling.

The level of vitriol and dislike about two people who live on the other side of the Atlantic, who have done them no harm, who don't affect them, and even when one of them is seen only once in nearly 4 months, can't resist posting vitriol and unpleasantness is quite something to behold.

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 11:40

Except you don’t! You haven’t read the book!

So this thread about Meghan and a nonsense article, is once again going to be derailed to talk about Harry. I love how people know they lied too, I mean how the fuck would you know?

Lol. I think you mistyped there. That's the RF you're talking about.

Spectre8 · 31/03/2023 11:42

You're all just regurgitating the same old shit over and over lol god let it go and move on..just like you want them to

Exactly, acting offended on their behalf, thinking that criticising these people who chose to put themselves in the spotlight because they don't want privacy, is tantamount to bullying is bizarre. If they don’t want any criticism, they need to step away from the spotlight and stop attaching themselves to the royal family via titles.

Squaffle · 31/03/2023 11:42

Whatever happened to 'live and let live'? I think they have made some poor choices and it's hard to reconcile their apparent desire for privacy against the book/interviews/Netflix show etc, but they are still humans!

I love that Harry needs to apologise to his family for selling stories but it’s totally ok for Charles to hire an editor from the publication that intercepted and printed edited versions of a private letter. I mean you couldn’t make this up. The mental gymnastics people perform in order to make Harry & Meghan villains while his family literally employ people from the tabloids that have breached his wife’s private letters, and hacked his phones amongst other things. I mean Jesus. They can’t moan about Harry and then be friends with people like Clarkson, employ tabloid editors and have one of her kids working for them to boot.

He didn’t brag about his kill count either. Read the book.

Charles also wrote a book that criticised the queen...but people love to forget about that Or say its not the same just to be able to continue their hatred

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 11:46

How do you know I haven’t? Why are you so upset because I think Harry is a privileged man child who thinks everyone is out to get him?

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 11:47

I also have to laugh about royalists wanting to take away titles of people they don’t like. That’s the point of the stupid monarchy, you’re born into it. Sorry he’s not performing tricks like you want, but tough.

You're mentioning bullying.

That is what is happening to them. Continually. Tell me why a woman who is going about her own business, not seen for months, has a thread started about her followed by a load of unpleasant posts?

And when that doesn't wash with MNers, they turn to her husband to vilify

Could you tell me how being seen ONCE in month is being in the spotlight? It isn't. And you sound ridiculous insinuating this.

Roussette · 31/03/2023 11:48

Being seen ONCE in months that should read

Vitriol? On this thread?
Where?

I also think they have made some very poor choices and in essence this has led to many of their on going woes.

When did William ever write a book that criticised Harry or revealed personal information about him like his private parts or balding hair? Charles is often mentioned as a way to justify Harry writing his book, but William has never said anything in public about Harry, nor has Catherine.

Viviennemary · 31/03/2023 11:51

I agree people have lost interest in her. I really hope none of the Sussexes appear at the coronation otherwise the whole circus will start up again.

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 11:52

No they just get their staff to leak lies.

Well since Charles did the whole writing a book first well his son is only following in his footsteps...so what's the problem lol apple doesn't fall far from the tree but noone criticises Charles for his book. Everyone makes out like Harry is the only and first one to do it and how very much dare he. Lolllll they call Harry a hypocrite but can't even acknowledge their own hypocrisy at tearing one person down for something they did that other royal members have already done

Sad people

diflasu · 31/03/2023 11:53

It wasn't behind a pay wall for me.

I also don't think it was actually that bad on Meghan.

To do that, she worked hard in high school and college, struggled to make it in Hollywood, aggressively courted press attention as a B-list cable TV actor and crafted narratives about her life that are not necessarily aligned with “reality.” Grigoriadis agreed that the latter is a very Hollywood thing to do.

They all do this - actors celebs - present their past in best way they can and embellish their anecdotes not just in Hollywood - and I thought everyone knew this.

Hollywood is chocked full of nepo babies insisting they made it on their own and connections meant nothing - if you don't have those kind of connections you will have to hustle and work harder and court the press more - I think this is more about them looking down on someone without those connections.

Grigoriadis said Meghan isn’t “a psychopath,” but she said it’s her “hunch” that there is something off about “all of them” — meaning Meghan and her family.

Again this read to me as British as a dig at the family background - money and status or lack - though could also refer to need to air dirty laundry in public and need drag each other down.

Mostly, the tabloids were curious about the new woman in Harry’s life and were happy to sell newspapers by playing up the romance, she said.

That was my experience of situation being in UK.

Certainly, the tone changed after Meghan and Harry married, with stories starting to pop up about “tiara-gate” and either Meghan or Kate making the other cry before Meghan’s wedding, Grigoriadis reported in Vanity Fair.

I wonder how much of this was stories leaking from disgruntled palace staff and how much was Piers Morgan who she fell out with and how much was normal build them up and tear them down tabloids always engage in.

I don't disagree with end bit about their attitude to the media - not to say they haven't got legitimate complaints from some sections but their antics detract from those and with better PR in the first place I don't think they'd be in the mess they are now with the press.
