Really...?

He has had his State visit to France cancelled, so two days freed up.

Some families do not learn.

Rousette is not ‘over reacting.’ I’ve read the exchange.

Thanks

Bottom line is..if I say I've read a book, I actually have!

I doubt the poster in question would have disputed it if it had been a detractor

Ishouldbeoutside · 04/04/2023 09:44

I didn’t read the bit where you said you’d read the book. I haven’t read the thread in detail, just dipped in now and then. So I didn’t intend to call you a liar.

Ok fair enough.👍
Sorry I reacted

The only reason to include salacious details about other family members was to generate interest and sell more books. Anyone thinking different is deluded

Cokefans · 04/04/2023 09:54

And not just family members actually - others were identified as a result of his outpourings

Can you link that, that the papers were publishing that William had or had not been circumcised and William has confirmed ir denied it? Thanks.

Royal Baby Circumcision: Will Prince George Be Circumcised? Will The Royal Baby Be Circumcised?

There’s a whole history looking at the tradition of circumcision in the Royal Family since Queen Victoria’s time in Sage publications. I’ve read through bits of it , but it’s long and I’m not that interested. it seems the media and Charles’ biographer ( in 1952) are probably bullshitting. But you know - sources!

This from Hello Magazine March 2023, re Charles.

Mihail adds: "A 1952 profile of Charles by Geoffrey Bocca, stated that shortly after birth 'he was vaccinated, inoculated against diphtheria and circumcised'.

the media seem to have a hell of a strange fascination with British royal males and their penises. If you search Hello and Diana giving birth you can read in what position Diana was when William was born. If that’s not an invasion of privacy I don’t know what is. And truly I feel I uncomfortable typing this out.

How would they know?

I’m done talking about men and their penises.

there’s a difference between the media speculating about it and your own flesh and blood confirming it publicly. Harry can talk about his own penis all day long but he has no right to mention his brother’s as it’s not his story to tell. Harry’s fans should be well aware of that seeing as they care so much about harry’s privacy. Also, describing his brother’s baldness as alarming and pointing out his fading resemblance to their mother doesn’t convey sadness or empathy, it makes him seem petty and jealous of his brother. No matter what his fans say by asking if we’ve read the book, some of us have and we still come away with the same thinking that there was nothing heartwarming or tender about how harry described his brother. Harry’s fans have described william as violent because he supposedly pushed harry into a dog bowl, yet they choose to ignore that Harry has been caught on camera shoving a photographer, has admitted to slapping his bodyguard and recklessly endangered his driver’s life when he forced him to drive down at high speed on the tunnel where his mother died on.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 04/04/2023 10:42

He was a traumatised teenage boy and teenagers are often cruel

We know that, Whaeanui, and in fairness most of the criticism isn't because Harry treated the matron appallingly in the first place - it's because he chose to retell the story in the way he did as an adult, when he might have been expected to know better

Snorlaxing · 04/04/2023 10:47

If the matron story hadn't been leaked yet, I think he could have assumed that his secret would remain safe. The virginity story was only made more public because he gave enough clues that people in that circle at the time knew who he was talking about.

As you quoted me, I think you might have mistaken me for a Harry fan. I’m not a fan of any of the Royal Family. I do try to be fair though. Which is why I asked who has read the book so they could tell me if there was more about the subjects I addressed than were published in the excerpts. I can’t comment in an informed way on anything in the book, really, as I haven’t read it. But I will read it in future.

I just can’t give credibility to newspaper and other online media gossip about Harry or Meghan. The papers and online media write things for financial reward unfortunately. they don’t have to be accurate about Harry or Meghan, they just have to get the clicks. Mostly they don’t even try for accuracy in these matters. And we’ve reached a place where we have to be very selective about where we get our political news too. It’s all messed up. And with Chatgpt, and the like ,it’s going to get worse I fear.

And the same thing could be said of how he described killing the taliban. Regardless of whether they deserved it or not, the point is he continues to dehumanise them. Even after all these years, off the battle field, how is he still so sure that the people he killed were all evil and deserving of death? Other veterans have raised the issue that regardless of how careful you may be, in a war zone you can never be entirely sure that all the people you’ve killed were all enemies and not one was an innocent victim. There is no acknowledgment from Harry about this, nothing to show that he suffered from any moral injury over the fact that he has killed human beings.

But harry himself isn’t even accurate in his retelling of his stories. Other people he has mentioned in his book have come out publicly and disputed his version of events. As for the media writing things for financial reward, isn’t harry doing the exact same thing when he released his book and his interviews and his documentary with salacious details of his brother and sister in law and father and stepmother?

Thank you for going to the trouble. I appreciate that.

It does, seem that that's just speculation about circumcision. Neither William or Kate engaged in confirming or denying anything. Which confirms what I said. The papers and magazines wonder about things in order to fill newspaper columns but the RF don't say anything and it goes away without the person(s) concerned having their private details exposed.

However, Harry, with his obsession that everyone is out to get him personally, decides to resurrect a subject long since forgotten. And in doing so he decided to expose details about his brother.
I don't think he did it maliciously, not like when he described William in a cutting way, it's just indicative of how Harry casually disregards the rights of others while complaining that others dont respect his rights.

WinnieTheW0rm · 04/04/2023 14:56

I did a Google search all the press seemed to say at the time was the Palace had never confirmed or denied if William and Harry were circumcised

Of course they didn't.

because they know that no matter how much speculation the prurient press make, it does not turn a personal bodily matter in to legitimate public interest (ie something that the public needs to know about, not a synonym for being curious about).

It was never in the public domain, despite the gutter press publishing stuff about it (not much of it was in the UK - to tasteless even for the tabloids)

It's in no way at all a justification to breach someone else's highly personal information (he can say what he likes about his own body, even over-sharing about frost-bite). Especially not decades later

I've switched off because its all about circumcised penises!

MrsMaxDeWinter · 04/04/2023 16:33

You are all making WAY too much of Harry observing candidly that William is going bald. Especially as the observation is made in a passage about the passage of time, in which he also references his OWN baldness.

I wager to think that William is not as outraged about his bald pate being pointed out as the outraged women of Mumsnet appear to be. Guess what, William knows of his baldness, he has joked about it publicly as, incidentally, has Harry about his own baldness.

Of all things to get worked up over, honestly this is reaching. You would almost think it's some dirty secret that William is looking more Windsory and less Spencery as he is aging.

The title of the article was...

No, Gabor Maté Did Not Actually Diagnose Prince Harry with ADHD on Live TV

And the second sentence is...

Reading the book, I diagnose you with ADD.

So he did actually diagnose him. And as he'd never met Harry before he did it on live TV.

The article seems to rather to say how complicated an order it is to diagnose and it shouldn't have been done after reading a book or on live TV. And that it can never be cured in contrast to what Maté said.

I have absolutely no idea what that title has to do with the article. It was a weird interview but, for once, I don't blame Harry. He seemed quite disorientated by it and eager to please.
