You don't fly half way across the world to 'break up with someone' if you have barely spoken since they got out of jail for sex trafficking offences.

You're unlikely to be a star guest at a lavish dinner party they're holding either:

https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/03/16/the-night-jeffrey-epstein-hosted-pals-prince-andrew-and-woody-allen-for-dinner/

Yep. Him dismissing it in the Maitlis interview was hilarious. That interview will go down in history, and people will remember where they were and what they were doing when it aired.
My friend and me were whatsapping each other whilst swigging G&T, just gobsmacked at the crap he was coming out with!

Bring on the film 'Scoop' on this.
Stellar cast.

Rufus Sewell, Gillian Anderson, Billy Piper, Romola Garai, Amanda Redman, Keeley Hawes.

I bet Andrew can't wait! I shall personally start a thread when it comes out!

From the Director “I want to put the audience inside the breathtaking sequence of events that led to the interview with Prince Andrew — to tell a story about a search for answers, in a world of speculation and varying recollections,”
(I like he has weaved in the varying recollections!)

LolaSmiles · 21/07/2023 17:01

The only surprise would be if anyone believed him in the first place
Agree with this. I don't know anyone who believed him.

This story should still be higher profile than it is.

CathyorClaire · 21/07/2023 20:47

As I said at the time even the trailer had him looking like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

I 100% agree this story should be gaining a lot more traction but it seems people prefer to discuss the antics of a pantomime clown (albeit one with an unerring instinct to zero in on the target on his foot) rather than those of a self-important buffoon with a penchant for sleazy mates and under the counter deals.

Disclaimer:

Not Charles. At least this time.

🤣🤣🤣

I don't think there is any sign that Andrew is returning to the fold.

He's never left the fold.

He's been papped on shooting jollies with Anne and Edward, papped arriving at a pre-coro dinner and most recently papped riding out with Edward.

It's as much of a two fingers at the plebs as Mummy was waving when he rode shotgun with her to church a couple of days after Newsnight.

Suggestions he's being pressured to move out of Royal Lodge and threatened with his allowance being withdrawn to facilitate it are PR puff to make Charles look less weak.

He's got a watertight lease and has been cited as the third richest royal in the past. He's moving nowhere.

This!

He’s never left the fold. The rest of the Royals are just pretending to be angry for PR. Behind closed doors, they’re fine with him and he’s protected.

Absolutely!

They engineeer his public appearances to make it look like he's out the fold.

He's not.

The only thing he can't do is travel to US and ponce around on golf courses there.... yay!

CauldronOfLove · 25/08/2023 11:13

Just saw in another thread that Priti Patel of all people, is trying to reinstate Prince Andrew’s tax-funded security.

Also, the Government is keeping Andrew’s visits as Trade Envoy a secret.

Government Keeping Prince Andrew’s Trade Envoy Jaunts Secret

The public are told that he’s disgraced and shunned by high society, even his own family, but it looks like he’s just as protected as he always was.

Prince Andrew's travel details and meetings 'being kept secret' by Government

Prince Andrew spent 10 years as the UK's representative for trade and investment before he was forced to resign after his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein was uncovered.

There are four points there.

The public are told that he's disgraced. I think the public are being told the truth there, by whomsoever. I believe that he is disgraced.
(He is) shunned by high society. I don't know. I don't know who keeps in touch with him privately, but it looks as if he's shunned in public.
Even his own family. I have no idea. I don't know how much they are in touch with him. They've only let him out now and again and I wouldn't be surprised if one of those times wasn't a practice run to see how how was received by the media.
If he stays at Windsor he is in a big, comfortable prison, as far as I can see, but has protection there. Do I understand that bit correctly?

Iwantcakeeveryday · 25/08/2023 11:41

Windsor is protected yes, at all times, and he can;t be arrested or anything while in the presence of the monarch or on one of his grounds I believe, without the permission of the monarch. Charles is stuck with him.. and if he dies before him, then William is!

CathyorClaire · 25/08/2023 11:43

We've known he abused his laughable trade envoy role for some time (likewise the equally laughable 'charity work' he was doing at Pitch@Palace) but it was always likely that what has come out is just the tip of the iceberg.

Government scrambling to cover up more of the Andrew shitshow.

Who'd have thought?

Iwantcakeeveryday · 25/08/2023 12:06

Still can't get over him being trade envoy. how the flip did that happen, it is so inappropriate.

CathyorClaire · 25/08/2023 12:22

He was given the role on a plate after he left the navy.

The queen was happy as it got the problem of what to do with him off her back.

Quite ironic really as things turned out...

Well I suppose they had to do something with him, so probably the trade envoy stunt was an opportunity to prop him up in a corner, claim "Andy inks the deal" for the headlines, and hope he wouldn't make too much of an ass of himself

Bit of a vain hope really ...

Meh. Judges wear robes and wear wigs, with different styles to reflect their appointments. So do barristers. The highest ranks (QCs and KCs) have different robes. University students wear robes when they graduate, and at some universities students wear them for several regular events. many teachers wear robes for school prize givings.Members of the clergy wear robes when at work.?

Novella4 · 22/03/2023 19:17
The Windsors are not qualified for any of those roles

They play ridiculous dress up and fools are impressed

Indeed, the Windsors are not Judges, barristers, graduating students, clergy etc.
Therefore they wear robes as Royals- which they are.

Are you impressed Novella?
Why assume everyone is? It is possible to enjoy a colourful spectacle without being overcome with reverence, you know..

vera99 · 26/08/2023 16:21

2 weeks was it in the marines before he cried off, and he gets to wear this. It must be that magic cloth I supped with my mother's milk ....
**
Soon, everyone was calling out and laughing.
“Oh dear!” thought the Emperor. “Now everyone knows I could not see the cloth! They will know I didn’t speak up because I was afraid of what people would think of me. What will they think of me now?”
But the Parade must go on. And so the Emperor continued to walk. And the servants behind him continued to hold high the train that wasn’t there.

Prince Andrew BACK in the royal fold
CathyorClaire · 26/08/2023 21:08

The royals' obsession with cloaks and bling is grotesque.

Edward's gongs are mostly related to the very many jubilees his mummy enjoyed. Likewise the laughable decorations the York sisters' husbands parade..

Let's not mention Andrew in his velvet curtain cloak at the coronation...

@Ivyusername
I only watch the Oscars for the beginning, when all the important poeple arrive, just to see what they are wearing!!
And it is exactly this; the robes (and crowns, etc), are idle without them being worn on a specific occassion.
I, personally, find some of it a bit embarrassing (the coronation), so I did not watch it. (I recorded it, to watch later, but never have).
I don't have a problem with Royalty. I have noticed that after the late Queen died, some rules surrounding protocol seem to be relaxed. (eg, They are not wearing hats as often as before), and I expect over time some other rules/protocol will be relaxed.

Novella4 · 27/08/2023 10:22

@BadgerB

You see when I read things like this

“Therefore they wear robes as Royals- which they are.’

I really wonder. It looks a though you think ‘royalty’ is real.
You do know it’s all invented don’t you ?
Hence the dress up .

Of course royalty is "real", in that it exists and we are discussing it.
If, on the other hand, you think "Royalty" is a different species from ordinary homo sapiens....... Don't be daft!

It's a job - with ancient trappings attached. We don't have to revere them to enjoy the show.

Novella4 · 27/08/2023 14:16

Oh but you very much do

Or you have missed the whole bloody point !

Novella4 · 27/08/2023 14:20

‘Royalty ‘ is not real.

Charles being above the law is real .
The Queen publicly parading Andrew , two fingers up to every trafficked raped teenager, was real

That’s what you are drooling over , when you say you like ‘looking at the bling’

BadgerB · 27/08/2023 17:05

Novella4 · Today 14:16
Oh but you very much do

Don't dare tell me how I "revere" members of the royal family! How very rude of you - who knows me not at all - to attribute such ridiculous feelings to a stranger.
And don't say that because I comment favourably at times, that this implies "reverence".
Oh, and I don't "drool" You really are very uncouth indeed...

Novella4 · Today 14:16
Or you have missed the whole bloody point !
No, you have.

Yes, they are very rich, and yes, they sometimes behave in ways that might annoy. But your hatred seems excessive.
