How do you feel about this development?

The House of York is what happens when you keep dim and privileged people deprived of, but close to, serious wealth. They get curious. A bit avaricious. A bit entitled. They're easily flattered, and then manipulated

Beautifully put, AutumnCrow

I thought "Andrew inviting fraudster to the palace" was old news though (?) but hadn't realised Selman Turk was claimed his cash gift was for Eugenie's wedding.
I thought that was Epstein, but then Andrew may well have been gouging cash out of them all

CathyorClaire · 20/12/2023 20:20

I should imagine the dozens of wealthy and influential industrialists and politicians who also enjoyed Mr Epstein's 'hospitality' will also be sweating. They however (to a man) have escaped any kind of investigation or retribution.

We can only hope.

I'm imagining some red-hot telephone lines and heavy duty dripping over the next two weeks as they scramble to get themselves off the naughty list.

Andrew however has lost everything

I have to disagree here.

He's still rattling round his luxury pile, horseriding, enjoying expert level security in the spacious grounds of Windsor, getting to play dress-up from time to time and basking in the tacit approval of the rest of them.

Not a bad life for an alleged exile.

Wonder if they'll be published in full or heavily redacted?

It'll be interesting to see.

As I said above there's no doubt some red-hot telephone lines about and also doubtless a frenzied calling in of favours.

All he has lost is his right to get us to pay for his golf trips, his access to shady oligarchs willing to lend him money and the right to act imperiously in public. His family act as if he hasn't done anything wrong, but they have to do what the nasty public want.

CathyorClaire · 20/12/2023 20:36

The York family has other troubles.

Indeed.

Not a one of them hasn't taken money from this man and that's before we consider his surprising Pitch@Palace win and the seemingly rent free Crown Estate owned Mayfair flat he enjoyed.

CathyorClaire · 20/12/2023 20:57

If true, I am glad for him, the Duchess and their children. I wish he had countersued Virginia Giuffre but the 'firm' did not want him to do that for various reasons, including the late queen's platinum jubilee

On the other hand defended court cases and counter-suing have the potential to bring hitherto shrouded unsavoury details into the spotlight.

Andrew (and by extension 'the firm') evidently thought a multi-million settlement to a woman he'd never met pretty sweet.

StartupRepair · 20/12/2023 21:10

Anne has never been accused of the kind of immoral and unethical behaviour Andrew has shown. As a young woman she was criticised for being a bit grumpy, showing impatience and not being a 'fairy tale' princess.

milveycrohn · 21/12/2023 07:19

To be honest, I think there has been, over the last few generations, at least, a problem with 'the spare' or 'spares'.
Anne has managed to find a useful role for herself, and after a faulty start, so have Edward and Sophie.
Andrew never really managed this, neither did Margaret, who still wanted the royal life style, as she slipped further down the heirarchy.
I think in future the royal children should ALL have worthwhile 'backup' careers of some sort, in case they do not want the royal life style.

I think, apart from the heir, they should be brought up from a young age ( basically now for Charlotte and Louis) to be expected to work outside the family. Letting them decide for themselves didn't work for Margaret who could have left to marry Peter Townsend ir Harry. For their own good, it should be an expectation. ( let's face it, they won't be wiping bums in a care home, they will have Beatrice and Eugenie type jobs). In the unlikely event that one of them needs to take over from George, being a ceremonial Head of State is not onerous. Most Heads of State, even the ones who's decisions make an actual difference just get the job and start doing it. They don't need a 40 year run up to it

pinkmont · 21/12/2023 20:25

Whispers appear to be getting louder about another billionaire friend of a Royal, (Weinstein, Epstein part 3.). Wonder how long it can continue to be buried with NDA’s and payoffs, if true.

CathyorClaire · 21/12/2023 20:52

And now the obnoxious, lardy boor is apparently watching Harold's legal manipulations with forensic interest:

EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Prince Harry's attempts to get his security detail reinstated are being watched by Prince Andrew, whose daughters Beatrice and Eugenie lost their own full-time officers | Daily Mail Online

If that revolting thing gets its and/or its eye-batting ingenue daughters security reinstated on the back of Harold's legal shenanigans it must (please) be royal time-up.

And an estimated £100m costs to usPA?

Show me the single use plastic bowler wearing, plastic flag waving tourists who are generating anywhere near that in an average year

Interesting discussion elsewhere on this forum about Andrew and his links with Epstein. Certainly more honest and open with no excuses offered for his behaviour as we have witnessed here.

He's a vile, nasty person who has the protection of his family as has been clearly illustrated. Almost 8000 posts in past few weeks based on a book no one cares about but used to attack Harry and Meghan. Yet this abuser of young and vulnerable girls gets largely ignored. This on a parenting forum!

The agendas are clear.

Itstimeforlunch707 · 04/01/2024 13:42

YY. Greed + privilege + low intellect = disastrous combination.

Very, very good point unbelievable22

And if the monarchy as an institution and the RF is willing to house and support PA and include him in family events, frankly it goes some way to confirming the thought that H&M might be justified in many of their concerns … .

Angrycat2768 · 04/01/2024 14:14

Yes. We now know ow what the worst offence is. Disloyalty to The Firm. Nothing to do with any responsibility to behave a decent human being . Andrew could have gone to church quietly without making a massive show with his ex-wife performing g like a toddler! Although Harry has shown that he is desperate to keep the monarchy and the titles alive. He just doesn't want anyone talking about it. They are both the products of their upbringing. The rest of them are protected by huge PR machines and Royalists going on about ' What about President Blair' every time they come in for any criticism. There won't be many left by the time George is an adult, I'm guessing so they may just be forced to behave like decent hunan beings inreturn for their enormous privilege, good fortune and minimal scrutiny.

The ignoring of the real issues which Harry and especially Meghan faced is common here. One example is the 'car chase' which has been mentioned many times to ridicule. The inevitable piling on then ensues. No attempt to analyse or ask why they might reacted the way they did. Disgusting behaviour.

There have been some very decent posters hounded in this section especially those who challenge or tried to provide balance. Some have stayed like @Roussette who can usually hold her own but at times even she has retreated. Many chameleons but usually recognisable.

The attempted defence of Andrew and his family is disturbing at times. Mountbatten, Charles and Peter Ball, Charles and Jimmy Saville, Philip and Wheelers . All went before Andrew but none have received the same attention that a book written by Harry has. Strange that.

Roussette · 04/01/2024 18:01

@unbelieveable22
Yep.... I bugger off when I've had enough of PAs, twisting of what I've said, and ignoring of facts and resources quoted!
