They attended church together, which is a level of seedy shamelessness that reminds you of how little these ‘chosen ones’ actually care about decorum or shame.

The above sentence, from the article posted by MissElinorDashwood above is a great illustration of the ridiculous exaggeration that is being wrung from this incident. The the most visible churchgoing family in the country going to church are engaging in indecorous and seedy shamelessness, apparently. Overegging, much?

(Also, if the photo in the article is correct, Andrew came back from church in Charles’ Bentley. Interesting. Where was Charles?)

i haven’t read the whole thread but has anyone argued he should be forgiven? It’s quite a gap between being forgiven and cast out permanently from a family.

If a member of your family, say your child was accused of doing something terrible would you sever all ties with them? Most families don’t.

Forgiveness can come after remorse and repentance not before. The point being made forcibly is that senior members of the Royal Family have skipped at least in public those 2 important actions by the way they seek to publicly rehabilitate him and by so doing bring his shame onto them all.

The Roundheads are revolting !

Once might be 'ridiculous exaggeration'

Twice not so much.

I would have definitely been cheering on Cromwell until after the regicide and then when the music and theatre died I would fall into an alcoholic stupor of buyer's remorse.

Charles would have been in deep conversation in the vestry with the vicar as to whether he should ring Harry or not and bemoaning that uneasy lies the head that bears the Crown whilst Kate would be scrolling through Vinted looking for the next 'peoples' accessory to wear to great acclaim. Aka 'work'.

Blimey a low bar indeed. We have a private family where I don't give a monkey's cuss within reason what they do and then there is the public persona the family of the nation. The mystical bedrock of national identity of which we have no other choice to accept whether it be in the image on money, stamps, the Royal Mail, the national anthem, the celebration of their births, wedding, funerals, the honours system, the Sovereign grant, armed forces' oath of allegiance, citizenship ceremonies. I could go on ...

A position over which I have no agency but have to grudgingly accept. But if accept I must then they had damn well better be on the surface as clean as driven snow (aka 99% of HMTLQ) fall short of that and an increasing body of folks will think why are we ennobling this family, what do they for the happiness and prosperity of the realm and in that will see the seeds if their own ultimate downfall.

Andrews is the stink that won't go away and their feeble attempts to begin a rehabilitation without a mea culpa for him are doomed to failure.

Beside which Letby is facing a life without parole for her sins whilst Andrew cowers in his Royal 'prison' being waiting on gilded hand and foot.

He could say look I liked shagging teenage girls who appeared to be compliant and willing but how did I know they were groomed and trafficked. I maybe a sleazebag but I'm nor a paedophile or rapist. But he does none of that and seemingly seeks a pathway back to some sort of normality. An approach that the rest of the Royal Family seems happy to support.

Royalists that seek to preserve the institution would do well to join in the public pile on and be critical of this approach rather than find increasingly lame and disingenuous reasons as to why he should be forgiven.

Chef’s kiss

Cromwell is not with problems for me but as regards the monarchy he was just 100 years too early dammit

Yup we could have and that Republic however imperfect - but he has problem with wives who are apparently a tyranny !😁

“I do not believe that this is an evil king. But he is confused. And he cannot say no to his wife. Therefore if it please God I shall raise an army of men who are not confused. Stern men who say no to the tyranny of kings and wives. Men who make no confusion over the ordained place of man and woman, king and subject. And with these stern, God-fearing men, I shall ride. And we shall be called Ironsides because we are like iron, being hard both day and night. And the king shall find us unyielding, like a rod of iron, and shall give us satisfaction. Like our wives!”
― Oliver Cromwell.

Journalist Danielle Esler writing for a conservative online media. Danielle mostly has a history of writing negative things about Harry and Meghan. But she’s now written negatively about William and the footie, and William and Andrew and the Church visit. Australian conservative media organisations, in general, coming after William re Andrew, just after coming after William re women’s footie final.

Thus right when the prince is being accused (by me anyway) of exhibiting a quiet contempt
for women, here is being photographed effectively welcoming back in from the cold
member of the royal family who went on TV and somehow forgot to show any sympathy for
sex trafficking victims! Goodo then!

August 28 2023 news. com. au

I’ve wondered if William’s being advised badly by his PR team. But now I’m thinking he’s not listening to his PR team. It runs in the family it seems.

The first part of The secrets of Prince Andrew documentary makes it pretty clear that Andrew has been unaccountable to all but the Queen, and that she did nothing to curb him. And that he won’t be told no. eg Always insisting on staying in ultra expensive hotels instead of British Embassies, when on his Trade Envoy jaunts.

The documentary did say his PR team had thought the BP interview a triumph. They were apparently high fiving each other - and drinks and food were called for a post interview celebration. That they didn’t realise what Newsnight had been given. Newsnight couldn’t get out of there fast enough with the film, thus they declined. As someone on here noted, perhaps their employees become delusional too - lose their sense of reality when around such deluded privilege.

Goodo then.

Or perhaps she just criticises where criticism is a perfectly reasonable response.

And it's the idea that people slot neatly into a "team" that's misplaced?

Exactly it seems almost weekly now that someone expresses surprise the Waleses are getting mixed coverage - they always have. Or when it seems like the royal rota system, the supposed mouthpiece for KC, has gone off-script. Almost as if the media have a job to do and it’s not just swooning over any member of the royal family.

The media pit one member of the family against the other to get views and readership in this sosp opera, and the Royals know it. That's why they brief against each other and leak stories to the press.
Re Andrew, I doubt he was ever out of the Royal fold. His mother let him get away with whatever he liked. I doubt the rest of them think he did anything wrong.

Hippyhippybake · 29/08/2023 08:33

Well I’ve never heard of a family who cuts of all contact with a son/brother/uncle/father who is accused of doing something terrible.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 29/08/2023 08:37

Prince Andrew hadn’t been been running a targeted campaign to badmouth Kate through the global press as Meghan has. So I hardly think they are similar. She’s also quite familiar in dealing with mortifying uncles with murky pasts!

Good grief.

Meghan has not run a global press campaign to badmouth Kate. She countered the racially driven narrative of "Meghan making Kate cry", a narrative that weaponises the "angry aggressive black woman" making the fragile white woman cry stereotype, by putting on record what actually happened.

Kate could have nipped that story in the bud when it came out. She and her handlers allowed it to run and run. Meghan was well within her rights to correct it, in the same way that Kate's people corrected false narratives about her getting Botox and hair extensions. Funny how those stories were corrected but "Meghan made Kate cry" was allowed to run and run.

In that Oprah interview, Meghan also said Kate was a good person, and she said you don't have to hate her to support me, or hate me to support her. She talked about the Waity Katey stuff as an example of the horrible treatment Kate got in the media, but as she said, rude and racist are different things. At no point did she say that was the extent of Kate's horrible treatment.

As for comparing Andrew's association with a convicted sex abuser with Uncle Gary's mortifying antics ... truly, there are no words.

Novella4 · 29/08/2023 08:38

You really haven’t grasped the point have you?

The Windsors are funded by the taxpayer .
Your attempted comparison is void

ALittleTeawithmilk · 29/08/2023 08:42

Hippy, I don’t think anyone has suggested that the family should cut off all contact with their brother? Have they? Happy to be corrected If someone has.

Edith, I don’t understand why you think ‘team’ is a problematic word when referring to his PR people.

Novella4 · 29/08/2023 08:43

@MrsMaxDeWinter

All these borderline offensive excuses for the Windsors is royalist barrel scraping at its worst

Seriously royalists? THIS you defend?

Each week it’s worse.
Willy will be flying round the world attempting to lecture people on the environment soon
All that people will see is Willy is fine with friend to pedophiles Andrew

PrincessOfTigger · 29/08/2023 08:46

Surely of all people Andrew proves that the RF don’t throw each other under media buses whenever it’s convenient? The most popular thing to do with Andrew would be sending him into exile.

Have you seen the latest lamentation from GB News, about how the Royal Family has sunk too low because Doria Ragland (who is not and has never been a member of the Royal Family, whether working or just lazing about) was pictured with the Kardashians?

Followed immediately in the same segment by Dan Wootton and his guests discussing future King and Queen William and Kate driving Andrew to church, and Dan intoning that Andrew has been the victim of a smear campaign and his nodding heads agreeing.

Doria Ragland minding her business in America, attending a charity event also attended by the Kardashians, is lowering the Royal Family.

But Kate and William driving Andrew, who knowingly hobnobbed with a convicted sex offender even after he had been indicted (never mind whether the accusations against Andrew himself are true), to church is A-Okay because he is the victim of a smear campaign.

These people, and their proxies, are comical fools!

ALittleTeawithmilk · 29/08/2023 08:50

Exactly 2 times I’ve brought up William
being criticised in the media. Last week and this week. So yes, ‘every week’ if a total of two weeks make a pattern.

Earlier this month he was being criticised for not wearing a kilt. There was also months and months of dog bowls. He does get criticism all the time.

Hippyhippybake · 29/08/2023 08:57

@ALittleTeawithmilk A private family trip to a church service during a family holiday seems to have kicked all this off so I’m happy to be corrected but if this isn’t acceptable in terms of contact with Andrew I’m not sure what would be.

Novella4 · 29/08/2023 09:03

Hippy for the last time I’ll try to spell it out:

This family is tax payer funded ( see vera99 s post) - not your neighbours . Different rules

nobody said Andrew can’t go to church . Andrew friend to pedophiles, was placed in the front seat - sure to be photographed
This was the ‘royals’ sending a message

All the ‘leaks’ about how William was raging and wanted him thrown out etc- clearly more lies
God only knows what the Windsors think they are doing but torpedoing the monarchy wouldn’t surprise me .
Thus lot can’t be arsed really can they ?
Two massive own goals in a week

Edited

Wooten( alleged recipient of all of William's leaks ftom his household) is still working for GB news even after that bastion of morality the Mailonline suspended him. Maybe he thinks minimising using power and influence to procure sex from vulnerable people will work in his favour?

They know they have apologists who will slut shame sex trafficking victims, excuse convicted paedophiles, accuse the Spanish Royal Family of being over the top in their support of their own women's team, conflate slagging off your own family with consorting with not one but two sex offenders before they will say that anything the Royaks do it in any way badly behaved. Unfortunately for them, there aren't as many of them as there once were.
