Sussex's snubbed on both sides of the Atlantic

Harry and Meghan will be invited to the coronation - by necessity - but this toxic pair will be kept at a careful arm's length by all and sundry, excluded from the balcony or carriage procession, and probably positioned somewhere suitably inconspicuous. Most of the family will be wary of them, most will wherever possible avoid them and the crowds will likely boo them. There will be no lucrative photo ops with William or Kate. The Wales children will be in the limelight, but Harry and Meghan's children will be excluded, due to age.

Meanwhile, over in the States, where they no doubt expected to be feted when they planned their dramatic departure from the UK, opinion polls reveal them to be less popular now than even Prince Andrew. South Park mocked them to general acclaim and The Cut published a contemptuous piece about the possible relaunch of the Tig last week.

They've been snubbed and excluded from every big social event, from the Met Gala to Obama's birthday party and Elton John's Oscar's bash. The only parties they have attended have been those hosted by social pariahs like Ellen de Generes.

They are coming across as increasingly desperate and embarrassing. It's hard to to see any possible comeback from here.

Perhaps they took him in as a refugee? They were escaping and persecution imprisonment by his family who were all at war (or at least their offices were).

The discussion merits a separate thread really.

l agree - until everyone started bickering about the OP again I’d completely forgotten that it was a thread about the popularity of the Sussexes because we were talking about the history of the coronation for a while!

Do you find the people who frequently post about how much they hate H&M also odd and unusual? There are many who post as often as Rousette - do they bother you?

I honestly haven't noticed any posters who fit that description. Also the insistence on using 'hate' is irritating

There are several who are overwhelmingly negative and critical (is that better than hate?) - they are very prolific and are on this very thread.

That rewrite reminds me of the CCBC Newsround 😂 You can't really expect people to write without opinions on a forum like this. There are lots of incredibly unkind 'opinions' about Kate on the other thread - do they bother you too?

I see - you asked where the controversy was in the OPs post. I showed you that most of her post was purposely inflammatory and not factual.

You now have changed tack. You now enquire whether unkind opinions about Kate bother me. Of course they do - I think the thread about her being good at everything was actually lovely and was nice to hear about who she was before. I've had a quick glance at the thread this morning and the pictures of the children are absolutely adorable. I, like others, choose to engage and interact in topics that interest me hence you will see me on H&M threads. The negative posters on that thread have been dealt with well and do not need any more help from me - though if they hadn't done, I would've done. This is becoming too much a TAAT so will stop now.

Not changing tack, responding to two separate comments.

I'm normally a lurker and I honestly don't think most of those defending Harry and Meghan help their own cause. They come across very badly.

I agree. Pointless posting anything on this thread which shows H&M as anything but an couple admirable in everyway. So I've given up, as, I suspect, have many others.

LMAO what cause? posting on mumsnet isn't changing minds. People gleeful at the thought of mixed race children being excluded and mocking adults over alleged snubs will be called out.

Do you have an agenda? Harry and Meghan's toddler children may well not be included because of their age - it, as well you know, has bugger all to do with their race. And it doesn't matter how many times you imply it. Nice try.

OP said that they made this thread out of amusement.

Please tell me what is amusing about the sentence below. Why compare them to the Wales children?

The Wales children will be in the limelight, but Harry and Meghan's children will be excluded, due to age.

Thank you.

purpledalmation · 21/03/2023 16:10

but they will be excluded because they are too young. What's controversial in that statement? Its a solemn religious occasion, so no kids under 5 will be there. 5 is pushing it, but I don't think the Wales' or KC want to exlude Louis when his siblings will be there. He'll be whisked out if he starts gurning I'm sure
.

Plitvice · 21/03/2023 16:13

I bet the Wales children are heavily bribed to behave well every time they are made to attend one of these formal occasions. Unfortunately for them, there have been a large number of them recently. I definitely don't see it as a positive in their lives.

But why include it in a post about the Sussexes being snubbed on both side of the atlantic?

tatalan · 21/03/2023 16:17

The more I read the whole sentence, the more sickening it gets

H&M will be avoided, they will be booed...oh and their children will be excluded too.

What about that amuses you @susan12345678 ?

Catonthehearth · 21/03/2023 16:25

Well the family will certainly be wary of them, not sure why this should come as a surprise? And the OP, however much you disagree with them, made the point that Harry and Meghan's children will not be there because of their age. Which is likely true and surely pretty uncontroversial.

Howsimplywonderful · 21/03/2023 16:33

@Catonthehearth

The rest of the RF seem determined to go high.

@Catonthehearth since OP won't answer, why do you reckon this uncontroversial point was included in the original post about H&M being social pariahs?..if the kids are excluded by reason of age only, surely that's got nothing to do with the Sussexes being snubbed.

Catonthehearth · 21/03/2023 16:48

You seem absolutely determined that there should be a reason other than the perfectly sensible one that they're too young.

Not speaking for the OP, but it could be that Harry and Meghan would like the photo ops afforded by Westminster Abbey, horse drawn coaches and the BP balcony, so the fact that their children will be deemed too young to attend will scupper the family photo ops. Of course, maybe they don't give a damn. In which case, no problem.

Kerrysgotabicycle · 21/03/2023 16:50

Well after the recent (unexpected, I think!) princess announcement and other stories in the media, I assumed OP meant that Harry and Meghan's attempts to use their children for publicity at the coronation would be thwarted by the fact that the children are too young to be included.

And they will be snubbed by family members who are still presumably annoyed by their behavior, accusations, and revelations in Netflix and Spare?

And people in the US don't seem very interested in them either?

I think uncontroversial sums it all up to be fair.

Kerrysgotabicycle · 21/03/2023 16:50

@Catonthehearth snap! :)

What attempts? who made you aware of their thwarted plans at the coronation?

Kerrysgotabicycle · 21/03/2023 16:57

There's been lots of speculation online/the media/twitter etc about the timing of the princess/ christening announcement, so soon before the coronation? As you spend so much time posting about the royals, you must have seen it!

Archie and Lili were in the UK during the Jubilee and the kids didn't make a single public appearance. We saw H&M during the walk about and church service.

I assume that if they attend the coronation, it would be the same.

Yes but how does that inform you of their plans during the coronation?

Kerrysgotabicycle · 21/03/2023 16:59

I assume that if they attend the coronation, it would be the same.

I'm curious, why do you think they decided to announce their children were prince/princess -especially after everything that has happened? Why not wait until they are of age, like Sophie and Edward have done with their kids?

It's something that makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Samcro · 21/03/2023 17:03

I hop that if H&M do come they keep their kids away from the public. The way people talk about royal children on here is awful. On this thread we have someone saying Lois was gurning and on another thread people discussing the wales children’s looks and a Nast post about a face one of them pulls.
awful

Kerrysgotabicycle · 21/03/2023 17:03

Reading it again:

There will be no lucrative photo ops with William or Kate. The Wales children will be in the limelight, but Harry and Meghan's children will be excluded, due to age.

OP is pointing out that they simply won't be able to use the children to be in the limelight at the coronation. So it's not really about having 'plans' to do with the children, is it? They are too young to be involved.
