The royal family

Sussex's snubbed on both sides of the Atlantic

Harry and Meghan will be invited to the coronation - by necessity - but this toxic pair will be kept at a careful arm's length by all and sundry, excluded from the balcony or carriage procession, and probably positioned somewhere suitably inconspicuous. Most of the family will be wary of them, most will wherever possible avoid them and the crowds will likely boo them. There will be no lucrative photo ops with William or Kate. The Wales children will be in the limelight, but Harry and Meghan's children will be excluded, due to age.

Meanwhile, over in the States, where they no doubt expected to be feted when they planned their dramatic departure from the UK, opinion polls reveal them to be less popular now than even Prince Andrew. South Park mocked them to general acclaim and The Cut published a contemptuous piece about the possible relaunch of the Tig last week.

They've been snubbed and excluded from every big social event, from the Met Gala to Obama's birthday party and Elton John's Oscar's bash. The only parties they have attended have been those hosted by social pariahs like Ellen de Generes.

They are coming across as increasingly desperate and embarrassing. It's hard to to see any possible comeback from here.

They've done it to themselves. I hate it when celebrities reveal their "seeringly honest" misery memoirs.
H&M could have and should have kept all this private, talked to therapists etc instead of unleashing a torrent of bile at the Royal Family.
Despite their faults and their detractors, the RF are still very popular in the UK and around the world. I think H&M vastly underestimated how bad all this would made them look. None of their staff seem to remain in their employ for very long, which speaks volumes

mcmooberry · 18/03/2023 12:52

As far as I can see, everyone who has actually met them likes them. I haven't even met them but like them. Glad no one seems to agree with the OP. Headlines like the one linked are part of the reason they left in the first place.

VivaDixie · 18/03/2023 12:55

Do you feel better for that Susan? 🙄 Go and have a cuppa and forgot about it FFS

Not sure why the op is getting a hard time. If any of you don’t wish to discuss it then no one is forcing you to come on a thread and post something bullying and mean. Hope it all makes you feel better.

op, I agree with you, it’s went badly wrong for them and I’m unsure how they can fix this. Please don’t take any notice of anyone posting bullying mean comments, they aren’t worth the effort

Maybe the OP shouldn't post mean things!

Oh the irony!

It’s not mean, it’s a statement of fact; grow up

Really? Where have the facts about the coronation been published? Or the true thoughts and feelings of the Royals?

Do you even know what a statement of fact means?

They re not unpopular in the states btw - it's the opposite in fact

Here's some facts for you:

Does the showbiz section of the Standard count as facts? Hmm

Considering these are posters who likely take their news from the Daily Mail, the Standard must count as an intelligent newspaper for them so in their eyes, yes?

They won't be snubbed here.

Shunned a bit maybe (no-one is going to want to feature in their next book) but if they decide to accept an invitation to the Coronation, they will be there in the good seats and quite possibly on the Balcony with their DC (if King and Queen want to have all their descendants, plus all working royals, there - and they might even have more of the wider family out there). So publicly all will be good.

I suspect they'll be less likely to be invited to the various receptions that will no doubt be happening for guests, but as they'll be barely reported on that won't matter.

I had seen reports that they're going through a dip in popularity in the US. But that doesn't matter, does it? They need to keep going and really put in the groundwork that will establish their charitable/service credentials. That part of building Archewell doesn't depend on popularity, and a few projects that they're really created and delivered (and I mean themselves, not in partnership) will be transformational of the foundation's standing

OnTheThames · 18/03/2023 13:09

If they come, they will be the main attraction and we all know it. It’s ALL the press will talk about.

Meghan will look fabulous.

They will stay 24 hours and then go back to their chilled out Californian lifestyle in the sun.

They’re really not doing too badly at all. I’d be more worried about what new shame dodgy Uncle Andy will bring on the firm next.

EdithWeston · 18/03/2023 13:11

The poll that the British press have been reporting on was carried out (by Statista?) for Newsweek

And as is repeatedly pointed out, the US barely has grubby tabloids, and even if it did, Newsweek is hardly in that category

VixenTodd · 18/03/2023 13:15

They only care if the UK public like them or hate them if it lowers their bank balance. They have earned millions by behaving shittily. That's all that matters to them. Meghan failed to bring down the monarchy but she tried very hard.

BoredBetsy · 18/03/2023 13:18

Well, this is the problem when you go on interviews and tell all then include everything in your book. People will find it hard to trust or respect them.

Rogue1001MNer · 18/03/2023 13:25

Nasty and unpleasant op.

And I'm not talking about Harry and meghan

Everyone except Rebel Wilson maybe. 😄

I realise that this isn't what this thread is about but Isn't The National Enquirer American? I am sure there are more.

susan12345678 · 18/03/2023 14:43

To say the OP seems hate-filled and has issues is an understatement. That, or they're working for Dan Wooton/Kate and William to post that

Ah, it's only Meghan and Harry that pay 'squads' pennies per post to spread propaganda on fora like Mumsnet. Kate and William don't need people like me to make them popular, their status is assured.

Disagree. She would him up and set him off like a tacky toy. Maybe we aren't all as naive as you.

They didn't attend certain events but that doesn't mean they weren't invited. I don't believe that Elton John didn't invite them.

I think they would have gone to Elton's Oscars Party if they were invited. Who wouldn't? It sounds amazing!

MoChridhe · 18/03/2023 15:19

People are desperate. When has Harry ever attended the oscars before he moved to America ir to the Met Gals? He's never been do was ge snubbed all those years ago as well. Soon they will be saying they have been snubbed from the Nebraska community fair or the Utah Bake sale. Please stop this desperacy. It was reported at the time that they weren't invited to Beckham's son wedding, but it transpires in court documents that they were invited but did not attend. Harry and Meghan do not have any movies nominated at the Oscars, why would they be there? They haven't been to the annual nurses convention either cos they aren't nurses.

If anyone has been snubbed it's Charles. No A list star wants to perform at the coronation. Nada. That's embarrassing and a real snub.
