Do you all find Charles, Camilla, William and Kate boring?

I am genuinely interested, Because every single post I have seen about one of these four ends up getting derailed by Harry and Meghan.
Try it. Post about one of them and within a small number of posts people will be talking about Harry and Meghan. It happens again and again and again.
So do find these 4 really boring then? Or are you just so fascinated about Harry and Meghan you want to talk about them whenever you can?

If they made their opinions known they'd be jumped at for being political. Just look at the the censure Charles received when he spoke out about environmental issues, or when he wrote to govt ministers.

Although Charles has plenty of passions and interests - architecture, organic farming and gardening, environment and climate change, polo playing, painting.

But I think that for all the controversy surrounding Charles, his consistent dedication to environmental is the best thing about him. He’s divisive, but at least there’s something to have an opinion on.

I think going forward, the attitude Queen Elizabeth had of hiding her opinions and being so elusive won’t work any more. Added to that, the Queen was seen has hardworking, where William and Kate are seen as work shy as well as boring, which is hardly ideal.

notanotheroneagain · 11/03/2023 10:57

Surely, the 'we are boring with no opinions' narrative is all a PR facade. Don't know how anyone is even falling for it.

Those 4 seem like a Game of thrones/ Gladiator/ Hunger games style thirst for the crown.

Camilla is as conniving and scheming as I had always suspected.

Charles, William and Kate are as power crazy, dim and easily influenced as I thought. Catnip to the Courtiers who run everything (under HoL and other powerful people ofcourse).

Mediocre, yes. If only they were really actually boring and bland.

Ivy7 · 11/03/2023 11:05

Yes. Camilla marginally less so.

milti · 11/03/2023 11:21

They are there to highlight causes and develop initiatives - it’s not about them! Those who do what they are supposed to do are infinitely more popular than those that don’t and instead use their position to make money and spout off. Their opinions are irrelevant - no more valid than yours or mine

Branleuse · 11/03/2023 11:23

Yes they are all boring

Samcro · 11/03/2023 11:33

funny so many people call them boring, yet they have countless threads about them all. Kate puts on a pretty dress and its front page news.

SnottyLottie · 11/03/2023 12:01

No, I like them, especially Kate and Camilla!

mintich · 11/03/2023 12:08

I'm a Kate fan!

Hbh17 · 11/03/2023 12:11

No. They are just trying to do their jobs, in spite of a lot of intense and often unfair scrutiny. I do feel rather sorry for them, but they are probably perfectly pleasant and interesting - especially Camilla, who looks like she's great fun!

CrotchetyCrocheting · 11/03/2023 12:12

They are meant to be a bit boring aren’t they? Ie non controversial, non political.

This is what I was thinking. They are supposed to be boring, they aren't supposed to be controversial, they aren't supposed to be like 'celebs', they are just meant to shake hands and smile. It would be a bit weird if the King was on Oprah or writing books about being rode like horse at the back of a pub.

Harry and Meghan actively want to be spoken about, they need headlines and interest in their private lives that's how they generate their income. I don't understand why people think they are sticking up for H&M by being all why do you care when H&M want people to care, if people stop caring about their lives good and bad then they stop making money.

doubleshotcappuccino · 11/03/2023 12:24

Not boring but can't relate to them at all and don't have the same respectful awe I had for the late Queen . Also, can't quite believe we have fast forwarded to a point where Camilla is in, Harry is out and all that early Charles and Diana marriage business is swept away. Also, I think H and M have a global wattage and relatability on a world scale that the current RF don't have. And many just can't connect to them in the way they felt they could with Diana or Meghan .. for the record I don't think the slow warm mush fed by palace PR helps .. it's so obvious --eg look Kate is so thrift recycling when she wears an outfit twice .

adrianmolesmole · 11/03/2023 12:36

They have zero charisma, which is in a way to their benefit (perhaps deliberate?) because we don't criticise them enough. For example the hypocrisy of WIlliam "focusing" on homelessness while having 4/5 homes and even wanting another I haven't see even mentioned on here.
Kate - what has happened to her early years thingamajig? It's been totally forgotten. Has she done any more work on it? Is it perhaps to her benefit that no one's interested? (Incidentally, her being a "colonel" is the funniest thing I've heard and that has barely a mention.)
Charles & Camilla are so dull I can't even be bothered to go into them except that I suspect deep down Camilla is a nasty piece of work, yet there is barely any analysis of her. Oh well.

Gilmorehill · 11/03/2023 12:37

I have a lot of respect for them. They seem to understand it’s not about ‘them’, it’s about a role they are expected to fulfill for the country. It can’t be easy. Of the four, I like Camilla the most. I heard her being interviewed on Women’s Hour a while ago. She comes across as very likeable and easy going. More importantly she is passionate about the subject of domestic abuse. She was interviewed with a woman whose daughter had been murdered by her husband and was raising her grandchildren. Camilla seemed to relate to her as one loving grandmother to another and she was genuinely empathetic.

Not quite.

The BM only slag them off. No one reported for example that they had sell out conferences in the last few months. And the BM did not talk about MM's charity visit the other day. So, quite useless for H&M.

Keeping people's names in your mouth - especially negative is not necessary nor helpful. Looking at Melinda Gates/ MacKenzie Scott/ Nicole Buffet/Jackie Mars etc. you don't need the tabloids reporting on your private life, you just need to know the right and appropriate people. All these people can raise for their charities in a heartbeat.

All you need is to invest your money correctly and let it grow. Socialise with all the right people (who usually keep a low media profile most of the time anyway). You just tell the papers you will promoting this charity at this time and that's it really.

"This post was brought to you by the word 'rictus'..." if I remember Sesame Street correctly Smile

It was the same with "vitriol". While it was a change to read something different from "hate", it was adopted so enthusiastically that it got tedious very quickly.

Exactly!!

🤣🤣🤣

Haha, with their 4 mansions/palaces. A bit like someone telling you they are thrifty, driving a small uno/smart/ fiesta. Only to find the back seat and boot heaving with new Chanell/LV/CH etc.

Remember that time Camilla had an accident and left the trapped driver watching her run up the hill to call Charles' office.
The Torygraphy pretended that she called the ambulance and police, but KC people were there first, so I bet they called the police. Why didn't she check on the driver, maybe take them out incase the car catches fire or something first. Maybe she could also tell the ambulance or whoever how urgent it is because the person is bleeding and trapped.

jays · 11/03/2023 12:56

Yes, zero Charisma, especially W&K for me just have no watchability at all.

🤣🤣🤣

Although I’m concerned we may be learning to use it incorrectly. Based on the definition “rictus grin” seems redundant.

ric·tus
/ˈriktəs/
noun
a fixed grimace or grin.
"Ned's smile had become a rictus of repulsion"

I'm Irish and probably shouldn't like the royals giving Ireland's history but I love William and Kate. I don't find them boring at all. I love Kate's style and how intelligent and well mannered she seems. She is just pure class. She's has been a role model for me for sure. In a world of classless celebrities with their ass and boobs hanging out and big blown up lips, Kate's a breath of fresh air Smile

Charles once expressed a desire to be Camilla's tampon. I find it hard to take him seriously.

Camilla stuck by a man who wanted to be her tampon. If someone said that to me I'd have nothing but contempt. I'm sure Camilla is okay but let down by her choice of husband

William just comes across a as a tim not so nice but dim, extremely privileged waste of a good education, unable to keep his pecker in his pants tool.

Catherine might be okay but she should ditch Willy if he is a cheat, she is worth more than him and is smarter. I wish didn't tow the line so often.

William has cheated on Kate??? Wow... I never knew that.

toastofthetown · 11/03/2023 10:00

Boring? What would you actually have them do to be more 'interesting'.

Have opinions and a personality rather than have their entire public persona trying to be inoffensive. For some reason people seem to think the opposite of boring is loud, brash and déclassé. But someone like David Attenborough for example seems a fascinating man, with passions and interests and a personality, and still behaves with ‘decorum’.

Charles got
into a lot of trouble for having opinions and voicing them.

feellikeanalien · 11/03/2023 13:22

They can't win really. I wouldn't be in their shoes for anything despite all the money and palaces.

AliceOlive · 11/03/2023 13:23

@summerfinn That’s idle gossip and has a sordid history. H&M supporters like to roll it out regularly because they believe saying nasty things about William somehow makes H&M look more stable. Mumnset tolerates it.

Fabled · 11/03/2023 13:25

Immensely dull…and the constant tabloid press coverage of their every boring move is tiresome. Charles has a garden party, Kate visits a nursery YAWN.
