The royal family

Do you all find Charles, Camilla, William and Kate boring?

I am genuinely interested, Because every single post I have seen about one of these four ends up getting derailed by Harry and Meghan.
Try it. Post about one of them and within a small number of posts people will be talking about Harry and Meghan. It happens again and again and again.
So do find these 4 really boring then? Or are you just so fascinated about Harry and Meghan you want to talk about them whenever you can?

OP posts:

I hate to admit it but I would judge anyone that liked them as a bit thick.
I would assume that they had been taken in by the media and not realised.

Inclined to agree with this.

sydneysunset · 11/03/2023 08:17

I think they are charming and perform their roles with great dignity, especially Kate and William. They are royals, after all, not C-list celebrities.

I think you'd have to have a pretty immature mindset to regard conducting yourself with class as 'boring'

sydneysunset · 11/03/2023 08:20

There's lots of derogatory comments about William on this thread with no reason - he seems a decent person who is trying to create a stable famIly environment for his children

William and Kate's enduring popularity and ability to rise above the drama is clearly incredibly triggering for some

Boring? What would you actually have them do to be more 'interesting'. I think we've become so used to celebrity shenanigans that any one who behaves with a little decorum is classed as boring. We want all the details of their lives laid out to gawp at. Well, some do.

There's lots of derogatory comments about William on this thread with no reason - he seems a decent person who is trying to create a stable famIly environment for his children.

'William just comes across a as a tim not so nice but dim, extremely privileged waste of a good education, unable to keep his pecker in his pants tool.' no evidence for any of that - in fact he has a decent degree from a good university.

'The British royal family are about as boring as dog turds.' lovely.

'Yes, snooze fests, particularly the younger two, but I guess they are grey rocking the peasants.' no idea what that even means. Or is it that you want them hugging everyone they meet to show how 'human' they are?

Charles is Head of State, not AntnDec.

That pretty much sums it up for me too.

Random789 · 11/03/2023 08:23

Yes of course they are boring. So are Harry and Meghan.

See, I don't find dog turds boring - I find myself annoyed by them when I notice them.
I'm certainly not indifferent to them, which I would be if I was merely bored by them.

I'd say the royal family are boring in the way my kitchen drawer is boring:
I don't think much about it while it's there, doing its job. However, now it's broken so it's got my interest, in a bad way. It's going to be a nuisance changing it but in the end I might get a better drawer. Or I might get something much the same or worse.

Why don't you tell us ALL THE STORIES. G'wan, you know you want to. All the stories, with a bit of proof. Then maybe those who think the RF boring will change their minds. Win win.

LaMarschallin · 11/03/2023 08:38

Sorry, didn't mean to say the royal family is broken at present, although some parts have piqued my interest because they're not just carrying on housing the cutlery as expected.

DisforDarkChocolate · 11/03/2023 08:38

I think I could have a nice chat with Charles or Camilla. William has the charisma of a moody sponge.

Schmutter · 11/03/2023 08:38

Not sure if they’re boring. But Kate does seem completely blah.

Novella4 · 11/03/2023 08:39

@Coxspurplepippin

😆 have no friends or relatives in the media ?

pilates · 11/03/2023 08:41

No, they’re just getting on with the job with little fuss. What do you expect them to do to make them more exciting for you?

LizzieSiddal · 11/03/2023 08:43

I agree with you OP, especially Kate. She’s so bland. However blandness is the perfect way to be for a future queen.

Im sure she gets to be herself in private.

maeveiscurious · 11/03/2023 08:43

I wound want the Royal family to respect traditions, to be circumspect about their communication. Your version of boring is good

You obviously have, so come on, let's have the details.

FiddleLeaf · 11/03/2023 08:46

Yes, fake smiles, arm gestures and a life full of small talk.

I guess they are meant to be boring.

HedwigIsMyDemon · 11/03/2023 08:46

I’m more interested in people who are fascinated by the royals - being so blind to the inherent batshitness of the whole thing is intriguing 🤷‍♀️.

LaMarschallin · 11/03/2023 08:51

Coxspurplepippin · 11/03/2023 08:44

You obviously have, so come on, let's have the details.

Well, my late neighbour's son used to work on the Stoke Sentinel (honestly!) and Gus Honeybun read out a "Hoppy Birthday" greeting to me on television when I was 3 and I really felt we connected...
So, I could make up hint at a few stories.

amyneedssleep · 11/03/2023 08:51

I find Charles quite interesting. He lets the mask slip sometimes and it's quite fascinating from a psychological point of view. I don't have much of an opinion on Camilla, she just seems to be a typical toff. Probably quite fun after a few drinks.

I find William and Kate dull as ditchwater. Smiling, nodding dolls. I'm sure they're a lot more interesting behind closed doors but their public image is ridiculously bland. This is by choice, I'm sure.

Harry has his mum's x factor. He's a bit messy and therefore relatable. Always has been. There's a reason the tabloids won't leave him and Meghan alone.

toastofthetown · 11/03/2023 10:00

Boring? What would you actually have them do to be more 'interesting'.

Have opinions and a personality rather than have their entire public persona trying to be inoffensive. For some reason people seem to think the opposite of boring is loud, brash and déclassé. But someone like David Attenborough for example seems a fascinating man, with passions and interests and a personality, and still behaves with ‘decorum’.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 11/03/2023 10:02

I like them but I do think they are fairly boring. But obviously they kind of have to be. I imagine they get totally shitfaces behind closed doors and like a good old party though.

I don't see any real love between Kate and William though, they look to me to be just good friends.

If they made their opinions known they'd be jumped at for being political. Just look at the the censure Charles received when he spoke out about environmental issues, or when he wrote to govt ministers.

Although Charles has plenty of passions and interests - architecture, organic farming and gardening, environment and climate change, polo playing, painting.

pilates · 11/03/2023 10:46

Just out of interest op who in the RF do you find exciting?

sashagabadon · 11/03/2023 10:49

They are meant to be a bit boring aren’t they? Ie non controversial, non political.
I wish politics was a bit more boring too! Although I think we’re getting there with Rishi ( and I genuinely mean that as a compliment). I just want competence not thrills and spills.
