What happened to just call me Harry? Why would they want their children to be burdened with titles?

“When reached by PEOPLE, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."

they really how no sense of irony do they.

Doihavetowait · 08/03/2023 13:50

It occurs to me that they will use the 'no one came to the christening' excuse for why they don't attend the Coronation.

adrianmolesmole · 08/03/2023 13:50

as for being brought up in privacy in LA? Don’t make me laugh.

Well, how many hundreds of threads have there been asking where is Meghan? They are pretty capable of privacy, aren't they.

Quite.

So Harry was telling the truth when he said Charles had told him his children would never have titles?
And everyone calling them liars were wrong?

Not quite

They weren't automatically entitled until the Queen died then they are I suppose Charles could prevent it fairly easily but why would he? At the end of the day Harry is his son good or bad right or wrong he is still and always will be his son that's why he is invited to the coronation that's why his title hasn't been stripped off him he actually loves him

I wish there were photos of the christening as I would like to see what people wore as I am superficial and like Meghan's style.

Yeah I want to see the pics too but frankly she has had more misses than hits recently

Who married a member of the SS. Harry's 'crimes' pale into insignificance in comparison. The point being that this "Family of the Nation" is pretty grubby in many respects once you open up the bonnet and look inside.

So your trumpeting about him attending a Nazi funeral was false then. His sister was married to one - doesn't mean she was one too.

ancientgran · 08/03/2023 13:48

Lets not forget Eugenie, Peter, Louise were also the Queen's favourites. Apologies to any other favourite children/grandchildren I've left out. I reckon she preferred the Corgis.

We will never know, but I would suspect she would have preferred royalists to maintain a dignified silence rather than getting into the trenches with various malcontents on an Internet forum piling onto the supposed crimes of her troubled grandson.

OutOfChocolate · 08/03/2023 13:52

@Serenster Is your comment about Meghan? Her mother was there.

Serenster · 08/03/2023 13:54

I presume her mother was at Lilibet’s christening, too, outofchocolate.

Who else from Meghan’s family was at the wedding?

Springchicken75 · 08/03/2023 13:54

At least they didn’t get their way and have the christening at windsor.

Really? 😮😮

We see very few pics of her and I think she looks fab in what she wears.

  1. Not 100. Just... 1.

I still reckon the Corgis were the favourites. They cause less trouble for a start off.

When the shit hits the collective fan, yes.

I think this absolutely underlines their desperation to hang on with a death grip to the Royal Family, amazing isn’t it that they want their daughter associated with the toxic, racist, bullying family that they found ‘freedom’ from, all for the dollar, they are utterly shameful the pair of them.

Just another layer of hypocrisy

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/03/2023 13:56

smilesy · 08/03/2023 13:47

I’d give up on this one if I were you. As pp have said, it was his sister, who had practically brought him up, he was sixteen at the time and we were not at war with Germany. It was not know what atrocities the Nazi’s were about to commit and most of the world was keen to keep peace having just gone through one world war). And as pp have also said, Philip spent WW2 fighting said Nazis

HIs mother is also commemorated at Yad Vashem as one of the Righteous Among the Nations for sheltering a Jewish family.

I won't go there, but by 1937 the true evil of Hitler and the Nazis was all there for anybody to see, ask any Jewish person but back in 1933 it was all a big joke.

entirelyesspresso · 08/03/2023 13:56

So does Meghan now apologise for saying her kids won't get titles because they're mixed race?

How can they use titles for an institution that has caused them so much pain, Harry's childhood ruined and privacy lost because he is a prince. I don't understand?

Justcallmebebes · 08/03/2023 13:56

How very modern and progressive of them. Said nobody ever

I fail to see how any titles are relevant or needed in this day and age. So much for our slimmed down monarchy, eh Charles?

She left them to Andrew.......

Did Meagain invite her Father ? I bet not.

My best bet: Charles hoped to change it when he became King as his mother was unwilling. He tried to get Harry and Meghan on side when things were more amicable but either they didn't agree or they did at the time and then relations broke down over other issues.

Now Charles has two options:

A) Remove the titles, prove Meghan right and very publicly remove the titles of the first non-white members of the family, or

B) Do nothing, and make Meghan look like a liar.

My suspicion is that he's gone with B, partly to avoid making the feud even worse, and partly because it's the right strategic move in this ridiculous PR battle.

Her name's Meghan actually.

Why would she ask him. I wouldn't if I were her.
