What happened to just call me Harry? Why would they want their children to be burdened with titles?

“When reached by PEOPLE, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."

We will never know, but I would suspect she would have preferred royalists to maintain a dignified silence rather than getting into the trenches with various malcontents on an Internet forum piling onto the supposed crimes of her troubled grandson.

I imagine that she also might have preferred folk with an agenda not to strive to link her husband with Nazis.

Her name's Meghan actually.

Why would she ask him. I wouldn't if I were her.

I thought it was Rachel?

I won't go there, but by 1937 the true evil of Hitler and the Nazis was all there for anybody to see, ask any Jewish person but back in 1933 it was all a big joke.

What exactly are you trying to say here? That the Royals are all secret Nazis at heart? If that's the case, doesn't it make it even more baffling/hypocritical/opportunist of Harry and Meghan to want their children to revel in their Royal titles?

She left them to Andrew.......

And Fergie.

Really? 😮😮

We see very few pics of her and I think she looks fab in what she wears.

God no, cannot recall the last thing I saw her in that I thought that is lovely. I did like a lot of her earlier ‘fits but recently she has gone off the boil for my taste. I don’t think she dresses to her strengths. The platinum jubilee and funeral outfits were dreadful. Yes, my interest in royal events is the clothes

You really are an expert at scraping the barrel, aren't you? in 1933 it would have been very difficult to find someone who wasn't sympathetic to Fascism. As I pointed out above, it was seen as a bulwark against Bolshevism, and what was happening in Germany was either not known or regarded as a domestic matter. This is also a time when anti-semitism was widespread and pretty much institutional.

When you hit rock, stop digging.

AnotherSpare · 08/03/2023 14:02

@vera99 It was his sister's funeral, and that of her husband and tiny children, FFS. That doesn't make him a nazi sympathiser.

pantherrose · 08/03/2023 14:02

@SighsTheNewWord

'"Hen' doesn't go quite well for Henry though."

No, but 'Cock' is the masculine form isn't it....

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/03/2023 14:04

I won't go there

Then did just that. But the people who don't join in your petty 'the royals are no better than Nazis' hatefest is a malcontent.

Grubby under the bonnet doesn't start to describe it.

HIs mother is also commemorated at Yad Vashem as one of the Righteous Among the Nations for sheltering a Jewish family.

I've just been reading about his mother and what she did in the war, part of a book about various people who did heroic things to save Jews during WW11, Very interesting book.

I do remember his mother when she came to England, she did stand out amongst all the Royals in her nun's habit. She seemed quite a remarkable woman although she wasn't able to be the best mother to Philip which was quite tragic and moving to see him caring for her in her final years when she was living at Buckingham Palace.

Yes, that is her birth name. She uses the name Meghan. But not Meagain.

Serenster · 08/03/2023 14:07

Oh, that is priceless. I was laughing at Vera99’s post thinking it was the most ridiculous thing I’d seen since someone posted the stills taken from the video of Queen Elizabeth and her daughters trying out, and laughing at, a Nazi salute many many years before WWII….and then they go and post that too. 🤣

Rather showing up the Republican cause as the refuge of the terminally ignorant there.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/03/2023 14:08

Princess Alice had a lot of mental problems @ancientgran She was in an asylum for a while and PP didn't see her for years, nor have a settled home. I always thought that his complete refusal to discuss his childhood and adolescence when interviewers asked about it was a sign of how deep and painful the scars still were. It always seemed to me that he'd blocked it completely.

Do you correct people who call Charles, Chuck?

I disagree. But that's OK. I loved both the jubilee outfit and her funeral outfit, I thought she looked superb. And very classy. Good job we're all different or we'd all be dressed the same wouldn't we?!

Eyerollcentral · 08/03/2023 14:08

Hey don’t tar all republicans with the same brush, some of us can appreciate historical nuance and still think all monarchy is redundant.

@Roussette I agree with you. To me, Meghan always looks effortless stylish. I love her chic, understated style. But as you rightly say, we don't see many pics now that she living out of the spotlight much of the time.

Some of my friends liked them too and I just could get my head round it. Neither of them did anything for her in fact the jubilee one made her look wide which she definitely isn’t. Pet peeve with both was the dreadful zorro hats but as you say that’s just my opinion! I love to see a beautiful outfit beautifully worn.

Do you correct people on everything on every thread? I am not the thread police for every nickname that pops up on these threads. I find the Meagain grating and I'm allowed to post correcting it.

stillavid · 08/03/2023 14:11

I think Meghan's style suffered when she was a working Royal. She was may more chic before and now after.

I would also hate the constraints of dressing as though you were attending a wedding everyday which seems to be how lots of the royal ladies dress.

However, I suspect this will change as time passes on and they aren't having to fit in with the Queen's tastes which seem to have been formed a long time ago as far as fashion goes.

It's pretty desperate stuff, isn't it? 'Oooh, what shall I do to discredit the rf? I know, I'll post something from 90 years ago!'

I wonder what else she's trying to dig up? An 'Edward VIII was a Fascist sympathiser' shocker? 😆

purpledalmation · 08/03/2023 14:13

This was before war was declared and Philip was 16. The funeral was for his sister.

Are you so deep in your republicanism these simple facts escape you?

She was also deaf but spoke, and I think could lip read, in 4 languages and fearlessly stood up to Nazis to save a Jewish family. She was more than her mental health problems.

I always thought he was just not the sort of person to dwell on things, he was one who looked forward not back which I've always admired, not just in him but in general.

SnowAndIceLobelia · 08/03/2023 14:13

I dislike MM a very great deal but loved her funeral outfit.

I also liked the green thing she wore to one of the last Royal public appearances she did. That really structured style suits her IMO.

I have nothing else good to say about either of them though.
