What happened to just call me Harry? Why would they want their children to be burdened with titles?

“When reached by PEOPLE, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."

"Deflection" from what? Why is 'Justine's' opinion so important? I'm no more interested in what she has to say than I am in any random person on MN, or anywhere else.

Why are you on MN then if you have no interest in what any MN posters say? Do you realise how contradictory you are?
Anti M&H posters are missing brain cells.

I wonder if Oprah Winfrey feels uncomfortable at all, looking back on that televised interview? She has a professional reputation as a consummate interviewer, and yet there would appear to be some issues with the narrative she elicited.

I disagree that Oprah "has a professional reputation as a consummate interviewer." Hers is the 'confessional' style of interview which was pioneering in its day but a bit old hat now. She's not Jeremy Paxman, probing her guests and insisting on tough follow up questions. It was basically a 'celebrity' interview, with all questions likely cleared in advance, with an eye on maximum shock value and hence ratings. In that she succeeded.

ginghamstarfish · 08/03/2023 17:55

Pathetic moneygrabbing pair, funny how you can be so critical of an institution yet cling on to its fame and titles. If this is true, it will be monetised immediately, with a range of children's products or whatever.

Roussette · 08/03/2023 17:56

Children's products? Like what? 😲

I'll not engage with you anymore as you seem only capable of insulting.

I didn't say I have no interest in what MN posters say. I did say that I have no more interest in 'Justine's' opinions than I do in anyone else's.

Why do all you sad acts care?

Also in general right wing media seems to always say Harry and Meghan previously have stated so and so. But there are never any direct quotes. If anyone has proof he has ever stated he doesn’t want his own titles or his children to have no titles please share it

Well shortly after they Archie was born it was announced he would be styled as Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor rather than using the courtesy title he was entitled to use as the son of a Duke which is his father's next senior title. So if they had wanted him to use a title he would have been Archie, Earl of Dumbarton.

And Lili as daughter of a Duke would have been Lady Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.

But they've always been styled as Master and Miss Mountbatten-Windsor.

Which implied - and led to much speculation - that they were forging a new no titled path for their kids - a bit like Princess Anne did.

But now it turns out that it wasn't they didn't want a title for them, it's just they didn't want the lesser titles.

Which is fair enough - their choice.

Though one would posit the notion that they retain more brain cells than people who make sweeping assertions like this.

Not really.

The 'birthright' could be removed by Charles or any future monarch at the stroke of a pen.

So I just checked the episcopal church is Anglican so consistent with Prince Harry's religion and the religion of the first child.
However in the UK I thought C of E baptism except where a child is dying must be in church? Is that not the rule in the USA?

Jesus was baptised in a river so I'm sure it must be acceptable to do baptisms in places other than a church.

She wrote one children's book. Slated on here thread after thread after here.

And it never stops.

Look at how many books the rest of the RF have brought out. Hundreds.

Minor royals, Charles, SarahF, Prince and Princesses... they all do it.

I'm interested in some topics and not in others and I've learned a lot from some posters and some threads. I've even re-thought some vewpoints. I still don't look on Justine as some sort of guru or think her opinions are something which I need to consider.

The minute you use a Daily Hate article to bolster your argument is the minute you've lost it.

Plus, I haven't read any comments baying for Harry to be disowned – let's be fair, he's the one doing that to the Royals. Which is why it smacks of massive head-scratching hypocrisy that he's now hitching his kids to the institution he claims drove his wife to contemplate suicide by insisting they use the prince and princess titles.

The 'Tidles' are all about the money, Honey.

The Hypocritical Harkles want to cash in, what do they actually DO apart from be professional victims?

In time, it will be interesting to see if their kids will sell out their own parents.

Arrocahar23 · 08/03/2023 18:02

She’s not a true princess and she has a stolen nickname instead of a proper first name.

Harry wasn’t baptised in a church. Neither was William so it’s obviously not a rule here.

They were both baptised at Buckingham Palace.

queentim · 08/03/2023 18:03

I love it!

It makes me laugh and provides a lot of entertainment to read some of you whine and cry about Harry and Meghan on an almost daily basis.

Hi Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet!

I’m not a fan of her parents, but she’s a Princess in exactly the same way William and Harry were princes - grandchildren of the monarch - so that’s just a daft thing to say.

Well there you are, @IcedPurple . You've been told the rules and what you should be doing. Hope you are suitably chastised that you've been doing the internet all wrong.

DuchessOfPort · 08/03/2023 18:05

I can never get het up about their titles - they have just bashed yet more holes in their victim narrative burbled so soulfully to Oprah Winfrey.

Titles don’t actually matter in life. The fact that there is a big, loving family who seem to get on with each other pretty well over in the UK is the bit that would be nice for the children.

Because of the desire of Harry to tell the world how deprived he and his frostbitten penis were and get a few vicious shots in to his family, lovely things for his children like big Sandringham Christmases all together, having your cousins a few miles away for play dates, tea with Grandpa if he stations himself at the big beautiful castle, summer holidays with lots of other kids in the wilds of Scotland.

It’s not their choice. Consider their appalling behaviour - I think the King is the one who has real choices.

Any minute now someone (Justine?) is going to accuse the ‘deranged Mumsnetters’ of creating the South Park episode featuring ‘Waaaagh’ because, obvs, we’re the only people calling out the hypocritical behaviour….

I guess I too need to start my day by reading from my little red book of 'Words of Wisdom from Justine'.
