What happened to just call me Harry? Why would they want their children to be burdened with titles?

“When reached by PEOPLE, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."

You are. But if it's wrong to call one person a wrong name to insult, surely that applies to everyone. To correct people sort of means you are taking on the role of thread police so I'd think you'd apply that evenly. And, yes, I am pretty consistent on correcting people over factual errors. I'm not that happy how Harry has behaved but I do stand up for him when people say incorrect factual statements. Andcapologise when I get things wrong. Seems hypocritical otherwise.

OK. So you expect me to monitor any royal threads and correct nicknames, I presume that is what you are saying. I think I have seen Chuck instead of Charles once. But you are saying I should be in charge of pulling that poster up. Rightio.... 🤣😂
Am I not allowed to have a preference to say I find 'Meagain' grating? Other people get riled about certain things, why not me?
But because I corrected that, I have to correct all other nicknames... hmmmmm

I am not sure why a nickname is an 'incorrect factual statement'.

I'm still shuddering at the, frankly, stalkerish use of the late Queen's incredibly intimate nickname, Lilibet, never mind princess. Horrible.

Grandson uses grandmothers name for his daughter.

Literally happens every day.

No shuddering needed.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 08/03/2023 14:26

I assumed the whole name confusion on here started because one poster maybe mistyped Meghan as Meagain. Another poster thought this was meant to be a dig at M (Me-again) and so responded in M's defence?

Or am I talking bollocks!?

Yeah, I'd say bollocks. 😂

People have been using Meagain on the Internet, nothing to do with MN, for years. It's definitely used as an insult.

Wheresthebeach · 08/03/2023 14:29

So is announcing 'Princess' a dig at Charles as he hasn't done whatever it is he does to give them titles yet? Why use it? Surely you just announce that Lilibet Diana has been Christened etc etc.

jeffgoldblum · 08/03/2023 14:30

I still can't believe it's not been acknowledged that what was said on Oprah was all rubbish !!
It was basically heavily implied that thier children would not have titles because of racism.

So much for wanting out of the family who supposedly treated them so badly

Gotta make that money somehow. They cling on desperately to the family they badmouth.

JudgeJ · 08/03/2023 14:30

Glame · 08/03/2023 12:27

Princess 😂

As valid as the singer Prince and the musician Duke Ellington! The status of the Letters Patent has not been established in relation to children who were not the grandchildren of the monarch at birth, others such as Princess Anne and Prince Michael have not changed their status when the monarch changed.

purpledalmation · 08/03/2023 14:31

Talking of dresses. Did anyone else think that white dress made her look like a tampon?

Lilibet christened and will be using the title Princess

Princess 😂

What's the problem?
You appear to be scoffing.

I suppose I've just never seen Ancientgran as someone who would resort to it!😄

It was not a mis-type. It was deliberate and I would put money on that 😂

I have seen Meagain, MeGain, and other nicknames a lot on these threads, I can't believe they are all 'mis-types'!

JudgeJ · 08/03/2023 14:33

SenecaFallsRedux · 08/03/2023 12:45

I really expected King Charles to issue new Letters Patent, but there are complications, such as de-princessing Beatrice and Eugenie, although he could "grandfather" them in, I suppose.

This is the problem with constantly quoting the Letters Patent which were drawn up when the likelihood of great grandchildren was probably not considered. If it's to be back dated as it were then a lot of peoploe will lose their titles!

Skodacool · 08/03/2023 14:33

In the interview with Oprah didn’t Meghan claim not to be interested in titles for the children?

mathanxiety · 08/03/2023 14:33

They're not typos, @Roussette

Just people who think they're being hilarious and oh so original

No. I didn't like the dress because it made her look too boxy but I wouldn't be that rude about her or any member of the RF to say that. But there you go

I have a very similar dress !! , it looks awful on me , I'm glad it's the style, as it looks just as shapeless on Meghan , it's not me!! 😃

GiesAGonkYaDobber · 08/03/2023 14:34

Sadly that white dress did her no favours.

One of the few times I’ve seen her look all wrong.

She'll be entitled to kiss frogs.

Only if the frog gives its consent.

like those who persist in using ‘Chuck’.

It wasn't AncientGran that used it was it? It was 'slowquickstep' who used it and who I responded to.

slowquickstep · 08/03/2023 13:56

Did Meagain invite her Father ? I bet not.

It's Meghan, but that's very imaginative of you, well done. 🙄 Why should she? He'd probably sell pics to the daily mail.

Ridemeginger · 08/03/2023 14:37

ancientgran · 08/03/2023 13:48

Lets not forget Eugenie, Peter, Louise were also the Queen's favourites. Apologies to any other favourite children/grandchildren I've left out. I reckon she preferred the Corgis.

Declaring yourself "the favourite", as Harry has, is revolting in itself. Absolutely no regard whatsoever for the feelings of his brother or his cousins, for whom the late Queen was their beloved granny too.

The name Lillibet didn't need immortalising by some minor royal, the child of 2 people who despise their families and Queen Elizabeth's legacy. It was the intimate nickname of the woman who was this country's longest reigning monarch, whose legacy is immortalised in the history books. It's use was personal to those who were closest to her. It should have never been used as a given name. To have done so is completely crass and beyond creepy in the circumstances.

mathanxiety · 08/03/2023 14:38

@purpledalmation if memory serves me correctly it's her father in law, God save him, who will always be more closely associated with tampons.

I think your remark was in extraordinarily poor taste, even for a Meghan bashing thread.

Partyandbullshit · 08/03/2023 14:38

Woolftown · 08/03/2023 14:26

Anyone else find it strange that they have announced an inherited title for Lili on international women's day?

Not strange. Entirely in keeping for "always spoken up for women's rights" Meghan Markle, who memorably insisted that women are "linked, not ranked", to announce that her daughter has been christened "Princess Lilibet Diana" on International Women's Day. (1) Princess (2) Lilibet (private moniker of a Queen) (3) Diana (ex Princess and ex future Queen). All in reference to a family which she heavily suggested was racist towards her unborn child(ren) and whose apparatus apparently left her suicidal.

You could not get more hypocritical than this.
