What do you think?

I'm not surprised. I wonder if Harry and Meghan will buy a new UK residence.

Why don't you all just say you hate her and would look for any reason to criticise her? That would be more honest.

Hear hear hear!!!!

Serenster · 02/03/2023 14:31

Charles really said let me evict my prodigal son for an accused rapist

The whole point about the parable of the prodigal son was that he came home, repentant for his actions. A less apt metaphor I can’t really imagine! 🤣 Unless you meant prodigal literally here, and that Harry is wastefully extravagant?

(Also, it is really not an eviction. They have been advised that their lease won’t be renewed at the end of its term, and so they must vacate the premises when it expires. An eviction is when you are forced to leave, mid-term. This clearly hasn’t happened here. And just a small reminder - the whole point of a lease is that there is no guarantee it will be renewed. On either side).

It was an eviction, end of. The Palace aren't even denying it.

She was number 6 on the call sheet of a cable show. She had a lifestyle blog, did speeches wrote a few articles. Modest success as an actress, yes

This sums her up.

As to all that charisma ...when she entered the royal family she was the new kid on the block. The media is always the same, build them up massively then tear them down. The charisma was simply the shiny newness of Meghan (as Harry himself says), nothing to do with any intrinsic glamour. Before Harry she was little known. Someone intrinsically charismatic would have shone well before the age of 36. The RF as a whole are pretty boring and ordinary, as most British people are to British people. Brits in America are glamorous as are Americans in Britain. Nothing more and nothing less.

Okay so anyone not having their lease renewed is being evicted. if your friend tomorrow came and said my landlord is not renewing my lease on a place I do not live in - wold you insist to her she is being evicted?

And yet, when she joined the royal family, everything she did, all the D list, Z list things, she did with far more charisma, personality and creativity than Charles, William, Camilla and Kate, Sophie or Edward. She has more charisma than the six of them put together.

Is that the way you see it?
Meghan "emotes", "look at me, I'm acting as if I care, and aren't I doing it well?"

The others seem more genuine. Doing their job.

This eviction is the perfect excuse for Harry and Meghan to skip the coronation.

Agree or disagree?

They surely didn't need any further excuse? Nobody would be surprised if they don't turn up. They've engineered enough reasons themselves not to go if they don't want to.

Roussette · 02/03/2023 14:42

MrsMaxDeWinter · 02/03/2023 14:18

@purpledalmation asks why Meghan's star quality was not so much in evidence until she met Harry?

It's simple.

She was number 6 on the call sheet of a cable show. She had a lifestyle blog, did speeches wrote a few articles. Modest success as an actress, yes.

And yet, when she joined the royal family, everything she did, all the D list, Z list things, she did with far more charisma, personality and creativity than Charles, William, Camilla and Kate, Sophie or Edward. She has more charisma than the six of them put together.

I know its exasperating to think that a D or Z list actress gave such adrenaline to a 1000 year institution. But it says a lot that a D or Z list actress is more charismatic than the six most senior royals.

It's very simple.

It's what happens when you create a situation based on primogeniture, who is born first, and not who is right for the job. Add to this the entitlement that because X is ranked number 3 or 4, there is no need to even study to be better at the job, No continuing education, no public speaking lessons, no diversity training. Just weird protocols and gossip and backbiting and worrying about who curtsies to who.

So here's the thing: D list or Z list Meghan exposed the Royal Family for the moribund stuck in the mud institution it is with petty minded people obsessed wit rank and headlines.

It is embarrassing for Britain that this Number Six on the Call Sheet D or z list actress was more charismatic than those born to the role. If she had really wanted the job, there would have been no stopping her. So it's very very good for the Remainers that she left. They just did not expect that the only born royal with any charisma or personality than all of them, Harry, would go with her too.

So agree with that. Sadly a lot of the public and MNers on here want the RF the way it is. Lacking in charisma, an inability to engage the public, no passion or excitement.

And then along comes Meghan and apart from those who were determined to dislike her from day one... she showed the rest of them up. I remember the Royal Foundation Heads Up chat, on a stage... the four of them. Meghan outshone them. It was gobsmacking how much. She was eloquent, interesting and informative, and I think a lot of the problems have stemmed from this. There is a hierarchy and you cannot have a more minor royal outshining the important ones.

Ironic at the end when they talk about 'sticking together'. Whatever your views on M&H, or K&W... it's a big big shame it didn't work. Lots of us on here fundamentally don't agree.... but maybe we can agree on the fact that if it had worked, the four of them would have single handedly modernised the RF and reinvigorated it.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 02/03/2023 14:43

Some interesting news from the Sun, quoting Stuart Pearce. Charles is apparently going to do an interview with the BBC with the friendly and supportive Jonathan Dimbleby to talk about his manifesto.

Pearce believes that Charles has been outlining his future for a while and has developed his manifesto based on "compassion and transparency".

“Yes absolutely. It is a manifesto to allow the alacrity, ease, transparency and wonder of sustainable monarchy in today’s temperament,” he said.

Compassion and transparency😂Looking forward to hear whether he will retire the briefing and counter briefings and "friends and sources" speaking for him that he has perfected over the years.

Will also be interesting to see if Mumsnetters slam him as they did Harry and Meghan, for choosing a "friendly" journalist.

I think so!

Then discussing anything with you is an exercise in futility. Words mean things.

purpledalmation · 02/03/2023 14:49

@tatalan The palace neither confirm not deny most things, so that in and of itself is meaningless.

purpledalmation · 02/03/2023 14:51

@tatalan Wow. Charles has hotfoot it over to monticito and evicted Harry from what he now regards as his forever home? Who'd a thought 😂😂😂

Ahhh OK. You were one of those who never gave her a chance then.

Too American? Too Actress-y? Too whatever....

When did you decide that? Before they were engaged or on the day?

There have been many posters who disliked her right from the start for some of the possible reasons I said above.

I have such vivid memories of that interview, and the whole Fab Four narrative that developed around that time.

The Royal family sadly is an institution that requires lower ranked family members to dim their light to avoid eclipsing the higher ranked ones. Someone above said Meghan radiates energy, and indeed she does. She is also extremely hardworking, and laser focused.

I genuinely hope that with all ties to the past now cut, she can turn her attention and energy to the future. It astounds me that even with all the negative publicity against them, she and Harry manage to make a success of everything they do. They clearly have the Midas touch, every thing they do gets attention, people are interested in her even when she is not visible, people are invested in whatever they do, and I hope that they now use that extraordinary level of interest and power it for good, and for their welfare and happiness.

But first, they have to come to the coronation, I initially said they shouldn't but I now really hope that they do, if only to see the apoplexy and rage on these threads 😁

I have mixed feelings as to whether they should come to the Coronation. Or not.

Personally.... having seen the level of vitriol directed at her when she was absent for three whole months... how it never stopped, I don't know how she copes. If it were me, I could not cope. They behaved impeccably at the funeral, keeping a low profile, but it was incessant, and nasty. So in some ways, I don't blame her (and him) if they skip it. Life's too short etc.

It would be hilariously amusing, for that reason yes. But for the furore ... no.

They should concentrate on their lives in the US and carry on their foundation and enjoying their family.

Here’s why it was never going to work.

And also why Harry’s claims of everyone else “briefing and leaking” are not credible.

There could be only one source for this story. This is how Meghan began her relationship with Harry’s family.

www.laineygossip.com/Didnt-offer-a-ride-blind-riddle/46293/amp

You do have to hand it to her, she absolutely began out of the gate showing her true colors.

Once you plant the knotweed and it takes off, you don't need to be seen outside watering it everyday. The knotweed here is Spare, NF series and the other rubbish. Harry is the dim gardener.

OK. Got you.
You want it to stay like it is.
Every organisation moves with the times to appeal to a younger generation. You don't want that. Fine.

For a million different reasons, I totally disagree with you! I had an idea Charles would reinvigorate and modernise. He has hinted that. Not so sure now. Don't think it will happen.
