She clearly is already the Queen. But officially after the Coronation she will be known as the Queen, not the Queen Consort.

By that reasoning, the entire thread is redundant
Indeed it is. As have the hundreds of other posts and threads expresing surprise at this non-event

and my point, that there has been no official announcement, is still perfectly valid.
Sure. But you could say that about the literally infinite numbers of things in the world that have not changed and therefore not been officially announced.

Plitvice · 26/02/2023 21:06

😂
She had a very immature view of romance and relationships. Similar to Harry actually.

Supersimkin2 · 26/02/2023 21:11

I’m so embarrassed for her. To have the same title as stateswoman and world icon QEII is a cringe.

C’s charming which makes me feel
bad, but ouch. Another reason not to take monarchy seriously, assuming anyone dies.

Supersimkin2 · 26/02/2023 21:11

Does not dies. Yikes, sorry.

Twillow · 26/02/2023 21:13

What 'official' is this?
Not by me she won't.

My reason for saying it about this thing which has not changed was to correct the misleading title of the thread.

AmandaJonah · 26/02/2023 21:15

@Plitvice That is just plain nasty.
Diana was a naïve and vulnerable 19 year old whose only experience since school was working part time as a nursery worker. She was very inexperienced.
Harry was 32 when he got engaged to Meghan, had several previous girlfriends, one very serious, and had worked in the services for years. There is really no comparison.

She was always going to become Queen Camilla. None of this is a surprise.

It is not official. It's a 'insiders say' from the Daily Mail.
It probably will happen. Just shows the disrespect Charles has for the populace.

londonrach · 26/02/2023 21:24

Never. I can't image the general public like that despite the rf pm machine ... Beginning of the end if such...rf needs better advisor s...

Ladyofthesea · 26/02/2023 21:25

Of course you should call her queen and not queen consort. All other countries call their queen consorts: queen. It would be ridiculous not to call her queen. So they had an affair 30/ 40 bloody years ago. Get over it. It's ancient history. Stop holding a grudge for so many decades, it's plain silly. If Diana hadn't died she would have been married to someone else for 20+ years and not giving Charles or Camilla a single thought.

CathyorClaire · 26/02/2023 21:26

Didn't the late queen want Camilla to be known as 'Queen Consort'?

Whole bloody lot have gone rogue since she died

And again.....

It has happened. She was Queen Camilla from the moment QEII died. She is a Queen Consort same as QEQM was when George VI was still alive. This makes her also Queen Camilla at the same time.

It doesn't show any disrespect. It shows that a lot of people don't understand anything to do with titles. Or the word consort.

Mysterian · 26/02/2023 21:27

"Cammy" to me.

She IS flipping queen consort.
There are only two types of queen.
Queen Regnant. And Queen Consort.
And she's a queen consort. They just don't say the word consort every time but it doesn't make her not queen consort.
It's like someone calling you by your first name. It doesn't mean your surname no longer exists.

Ladyofthesea · 26/02/2023 21:29

Coronateachingagain · 26/02/2023 18:59

She can call herself what she wants, she is the spouse of the monarch, not a "queen" however.

This monarchic system should change, it does not make sense in this day and age and they will need to evolve with times. We need to look past the title they give to themselves.

Of course she is the queen, just like queen Noor, queen Letitzia and queen Maxima.

CathyorClaire · 26/02/2023 21:33

So why hide the real title and hope the plebs don't notice?

Absolute bollocks smoke and mirrors.

'Consort' is a style, not a title.

Nobody hid anything. They may have underestimated how ignorant the general populace is if this is genuinely seen as a change when it isn't a change at all.

AmandaJonah · 26/02/2023 21:39

I think they did try and mislead the public. Agreed she has always been Queen Camilla since Elizabeth died.

The royals are of course noted for their straight talking and transparency

Seriously, did you think they were going to call her Queen Consort Camilla? In all the programmes you've ever seen on all the tv or books and magazine articles you've ever read, have you ever heard someone titled like that?

Away with your pleb nonsense. Social class has nothing to do with common sense.

They just have respect for the population and credit them with more intelligence than some people clearly have. 🙄

Mislead how?

Camilla is Queen. There is only one kind of queen that she can be. Perhaps another way of stating it is that when she is referred to as the Queen, "consort" is understood.

Jelly to the wall, indeed. Do they still teach history in schools in the UK?

BiddyPop · 26/02/2023 21:48

Well, Queen Elizabeth, the queen Mother, was known as Queen Elizabeth when married to King George VI. But she was not the monarch.

Queen Elizabeth II who died last year was the second Monarch Queen Elizabeth, after Queen Elizabeth, the daughter of Henry VIII.

So Queen Camilla, as the wife of King Charles III, will be just fine.
