The DM is reporting this (who else). Apprently Camilla's grandchildren are to play a prominent role in the coronation alongside the other heirs. Not sure I agree with this. Although I quite like Camila now although I didn't used to.

The european royals no longer have a coronation ceremony, and I suspect this will be the future here before long.

The don’t have a coronation ceremony only in the sense that they aren’t actually “crowned”, but they certainly have big ceremonies at which they are enthroned, with jewels, ermine robes, parades, balcony appearances etc etc just like here.

We shouldn't even be having a Coronation when nurses are resorting to food backs. Completely tone deaf, hateful, evil thing to do.

Who cares which spoilt rich ppl attend?

Hear, hear. Wish they would all disappear.
Why we have some random people, apparently chosen by God 😂) lording it over us is quite ridiculous.

Plitvice · 26/02/2023 12:51

I suppose that this is the big show of approval for Camilla The Queen and also an acknowledgment of the blended family structure by the RF (now that Eugenie is also in a blended family and brings her step-son to official events).

It will be strange if Harry/Archie are missing and the non-bio non-royal kids are given too much of a prominent role.

Nurses are highly educated (many to degree level and above).

Doesn't mean they won't need to access food banks. It's all to do with financial circumstances, not education.

Inflation and col has impacted everyone.
Again, I blame the Government for this.

So do YOU use a food bank? As your initial response to the poster who mentioned food banks is that the pomp and bling will cheer people up.

This a million times

Obviously no one knows how long KC will live, but for some of us his may be the only Coronation in our life time.

TorringtonDean · 26/02/2023 13:39

It’s not a wedding though, is it? It’s a “job onboarding”. In which case it would be odd to have any kids or step kids involved. Except in this case it is a hereditary job and they are not in the line of succession. Charles is the ultimate nepobaby. I find the whole thing bizarre in a country we all generally think of as a meritocratic democracy.

I work in healthcare. Just a reminder that it isn’t the royal family who are choosing not to pay healthcare workers (not just nurses) appropriately. It’s a political choice by the government.

The coronation is bullshit, as is sacred oil under a canopy. Makes me laugh. But a blended family including her grandchildren I cannot get angry about and think it’s the way it should be.
But the monarchy and privilege and succession bullshit and the amount of people who go crazy of witnessing William and Kate hold hands is bizarre.

purpledalmation · 26/02/2023 13:56

Can't understand why people come on the royal family threat to say how much they dislike the royal family 😂😂😂

Basically, if you don't like them, don't follow them. If you don't like the ceremony, don't watch it, go for a walk. If you don't like the monarchy, vote for a party supporting republicanism or move to the USA.

Fwiw. You don't need to buy into the whole monarchy thing to like some of the RF or enjoy the ceremonial aspect of it.

Hbh17 · 26/02/2023 14:02

They are her family, and this is a lovely idea. The Coronation will be fantastic - the tradition dates back 1,000 years and it's so important that we acknowledge our history, as well as allowing The King to dedicate himself to the role. And I definitely want the gold coach, Zadok the Priest and princesses dripping in diamonds! It has nothing to do with whatever is going on politically.

Plitvice · 26/02/2023 14:06

Or could demotion of true blue blood at a coronation be the first tentative step towards a republic?

EdithWeston · 26/02/2023 14:12

I think the idea of a "star role" is just hyperbole at this point. We don't really know who will be doing what.

I never thought they wouldn't be invited.

Charles' descendants will be invited (never thought they wouldn't be). If any choose not to come, that's their prerogative.

I suspect DCG who have not yet reached school age will probably be "balcony only" invitations

Nurse here. I'm looking forward to the Coronation, we could do with some pomp and bling to sparkle things up a bit.

If you want to complain about foodbanks then aim your ire at the Tories who have been in Government for a decade now.

Are you a nurse who has to go to a food bank?

It's not as simple as not liking then, it's feeling that the whole system is abhorrent and wrong.

You make it sound like it's a preference, like a type of music you just don't listen to if you don't like it. It's a little bit more complicated than that.

They have been using food banks for almost a decade one day won't make a difference

sashagabadon · 26/02/2023 14:22

Nurses can pick up £25 per hour on a weekend bank shift and they are very well educated professionals too.
i’m not convinced the “nurses using food banks” defence against the coronation is a very winning argument. Especially as it’s never actually used by nurses.
if nurses worked a 12 hour shift the coronation weekend they could probably earn nearly 300 quid!

PillBoxes · 26/02/2023 14:24

I can't stand all this medieval mullarkey, and I will not be watching live but maybe the highlights to have a smirk at the idiocy of it all, which for me will be the best bit!

I have a feeling that Mrs Chuck is not a fan of pomp and ceremony anyway, and she can look like a rabbit caught in the headlights at these formal things. I'd wager the Royal Doc will dole out a few Xanax for the day, and if I were in her shoes I'd neck them with a few Dom Perignons before getting under the canopy.

I hope Chuck doesn't have to sign anything that day😂

Apologies for the dense questions but I know someone on here will know.

Is she going to be the actual queen not queen consort?

Will her kids then gain Prince or princess titles?

Queen consort and she'll probably just be called queen.

No, her kids won't have titles because they aren't the king's children. If they were they'd already have them (titles, that is).

Where is this? Can you pm me the location please because I'd definitely work there instead of the 3 trusts local to me which pay in the region of £18 which I then pay NI, tax at 40% and pension at 13% from.

I suspect this is kite flying by the 'royals ' to see how much the public will stomach .
The public won't stomach this at all if the daily fail comments are anything to go by ( I looked so you don't have to )

Now I can't wait to read the royalists on here tie themselves in knots praising the 'protocol' when Charles's step grandchildren are involved and his other grandchildren aren't
None of them 'working '( all the lols) 'royals '
