The DM is reporting this (who else). Apprently Camilla's grandchildren are to play a prominent role in the coronation alongside the other heirs. Not sure I agree with this. Although I quite like Camila now although I didn't used to.

We shouldn't even be having a Coronation when nurses are resorting to food backs. Completely tone deaf, hateful, evil thing to do.

Who cares which spoilt rich ppl attend?

magicstar1 · 26/02/2023 12:15

She is being crowned as Queen, so of course her family would be involved.

Nurse here. I'm looking forward to the Coronation, we could do with some pomp and bling to sparkle things up a bit.

If you want to complain about foodbanks then aim your ire at the Tories who have been in Government for a decade now.

ScentOfAMemory · 26/02/2023 12:21

Like Diana's sisters and children etc would have been you mean? Like Diana's extended family were at QE2's mourning events?

That's nice. Isn't it?

Yes, all that sparkle is going to cheer up the peasants no end whilst they wait in line for the food bank

I'm not a peasant, I'm a highly educated Professional.

I'm sorry if you feel the need to denigrate other people who hold different views to you.

It's actually comments like that that make me more stubborn to the thought of Republicanism.

Hooklander · 26/02/2023 12:25

The Mail Online is really stirring the cauldron with its assertion that Camilla doesn't want duchesses holding the canopy for the sacred anointing malarkey.

I wonder whom the Mail is hinting she could possibly be rejecting?

Velvian · 26/02/2023 12:27

I don't really know much about them, but I prefer Camilla to Charles. I think it is good that her family is involved.

I'm planning to be away for the coronation and was away for the jubilee. It doesn't bother me that it is happening. I don't think there is any scenario in which the coronation pot would instead be used for public services.

There is enough wealth in this country for public services to be funded well, never mind adequately. The government very clearly do not want to do this.

Public services should be strictly non profit. There are far more statesmen than royals trying to squeeze every last penny from public funds in their own interests.

monomatapea · 26/02/2023 12:27

And why shouldn't they.

You wouldn't leave stepkids out of anything else.

Step grandkids even.

King Charles is obviously happy they are part of his family

I didn't say you were a peasant. If you're a highly educated professional then you're probably not waiting in line for the food bank, are you?

Fleetheart · 26/02/2023 12:30

maybe we don’t need to believe everything (anything?) reported in the Daily Fail.

'Reportedly' indicated that she wants her grandchildren to hold the canopy. 'Reportedly.'

Pieceofpurplesky · 26/02/2023 12:33

A) it's a day off
B) it's history
C) it will be full on pomp

I will enjoy the day off and watching the historic event. I'm no royalist!

Monzeitia · 26/02/2023 12:33

Well said, why everything has to be so gloom and doom, if people are so against The Coronation don’t watch it then, let others enjoy it if they want, I bet most of them are glad to have the day off

tsmainsqueeze · 26/02/2023 12:36

I can't say i'm that interested in the monarchy/coronation in general but it's going to happen whether anyone likes it or not , she is their nan, of course she wants them involved, anybodies nan would want their grandchildren involved in their 'special occasion'.
I don't begrudge her this at all.

MrsFinkelstein · 26/02/2023 12:37

Caviarandgelatine · 26/02/2023 12:29

Nurses are highly educated (many to degree level and above).

Doesn't mean they won't need to access food banks. It's all to do with financial circumstances, not education.

Inflation and col has impacted everyone.
Again, I blame the Government for this.

Monzeitia · 26/02/2023 12:38

Why are you trying so hard to make people feel guilty if they are looking for to watch The Coronation, live and let live, no one will be holding a gun holds a gun against your head, so don’t watch it, is that simple

Quartz2208 · 26/02/2023 12:39

The story is she would like them to be involved in her pat of the coronation when she gets crowned which seems I think what most grandmothers would want

milveycrohn · 26/02/2023 12:42

We have no idea whether Camilla's children or grandchildren will be involved or not.
It is just the newspaper stirring as usual.
Frankly, while I admire all the coronation stuff, I think it is all a bit dated now.
That said, I hope some of the aristocrats will be invited, as when else will they get to wear their family tiaras. (Though it has been stated that unlike in 1953, when all the aristocrats were invited, this time only a few will be).
That said, I am not planning to watch it at all.
The european royals no longer have a coronation ceremony, and I suspect this will be the future here before long.

Given in the past it’s been Peeresses, rather than Royal Duchesses, who performed this role, unless they are implying that Camilla’s fallen out with the Duchess of Devonshire, Beaufort or Marlborough etc, then no-one I expect. Who are you hinting at?
