The DM is reporting this (who else). Apprently Camilla's grandchildren are to play a prominent role in the coronation alongside the other heirs. Not sure I agree with this. Although I quite like Camila now although I didn't used to.

We shouldn't even be having a Coronation when nurses are resorting to food backs. Completely tone deaf, hateful, evil thing to do.

Who cares which spoilt rich ppl attend?

We would have a more expensive tax draining head of state if we didn’t have the monarchy so your joyless and irrelevant analogy about food banks is tripe. We would still have food banks and the spoilt rich but no national bling to sell around the world. Careful what you wish for.

You said nurses need food banks. Do you not see nurses as highly educated?

I haven't mentioned nurses in my posts.

@Caviarandgelatine

I'm a single parent living on disability benefits. I've sat in my house with no heating or hot water and sometimes barely any food. I've had to use foodbanks on occasion.

I've always loved a big event like a royal wedding or a jubilee. Now I'm looking forward to the coronation, I think it's going to be a fantastic day.

I find it fascinating that somebody in your circumstances doesn't see a problem with an unelected head state enjoying huge wealth, simply as an accident of birth.

Caviarandgelatine · 27/02/2023 00:43

*head of state

I haven't mentioned nurses in my posts.

You’re right. You just quoted someone who talked about nurses needing food banks and then squabbled with someone who is a nurse and referred to those needing food banks as peasants

Of course Camilla's family would be present.
How appropriate for them to witness the momentous occasion for their loved relatives.
When you say prominant roles. What roles are up for the taking?

I work in healthcare. Just a reminder that it isn’t the royal family who are choosing not to pay healthcare workers (not just nurses) appropriately. It’s a political choice by the government.

Well said! I can't decide if some of these posters are naive or just thick.

So this isn't the first side chick being crowned ?

Do tell us more !

Ever heard of Henry the 8th wives?

God, I'm not even British and know that.

Ladyofthesea · 27/02/2023 06:00

Queen Camilla will be crowned, of course her children and grandchildren should be involved.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 27/02/2023 06:37

Like it or not, she's his wife and is Queen Consort. Of course her family should be involved.

Monzeitia · 27/02/2023 06:50

You are so rude, let the poor woman have some enjoyment in her life, who are you to tell her what she can enjoy or not, how to live her life, if she looking for to watch The Coronation who are you to tell her otherwise, stop trying to make people feel guilty, if you want to blame someone, blame the current government that put her and others in that situation, unbelievable

Because they can recognise that their circumstances are not caused by other people (not only the head of state) enjoying huge wealth as an accident of birth?

IMO both are symptoms of the way power and wealth are distributed and maintained, but that happens in a lot of societies, including those with elected heads of state.

You do realise that I was using the word peasants sarcastically surely

gogohmm · 27/02/2023 07:33

Of course her children and grandchildren will be involved if they want to be. Just like in any step situation. She does keep them out of the limelight mostly, but not hidden. At big occasions they are always there

gogohmm · 27/02/2023 07:35

As for the Sussex's children, the youngest won't be there anyway, it remains ti be seen if they trust Louis this time

MrsFinkelstein · 26/02/2023 12:24

I'm not a peasant, I'm a highly educated Professional.

I'm sorry if you feel the need to denigrate other people who hold different views to you.

It's actually comments like that that make me more stubborn to the thought of Republicanism.

I think I love you.

monomatapea · 26/02/2023 12:28

Step grandkids even.

King Charles is obviously happy they are part of his family

Camilla has said many times over that Charles is a fabulous grandfather to all of the children, that he reads them the most marvelous stories and is especially good at reading Harry Potter in all of the different voices.

Quite on the contrary. Our monarchy symbolises and legitimises inequality. I simply don't understand how anybody suffering poverty can defer to the royal family and actively celebrate them.

mixedrecycling · 27/02/2023 07:54

Well, there are now more billionaires in the UK than ever, and their wealth has grown - mostly not inherited wealth, but people who have gamed the current system. But as I said, it looks the same in many countries with an elected head of state.

KrasiTime · 27/02/2023 08:00

We tried having a republic & the monarchy were invited back with restrictions. So I’ll keep what we have for now until a better solution is found.

Quite frankly after the shit show that is Brexit I’m not up for another mess.

Perhaps showing my age here-he was on Jackanory reading his book The Old Man of Lochnagar which supposedly was a story he made up for Andrew & Edward!

Thank you 😘
I'm truly a moody bitch, but I'll take the love!
I'm back off now to tug my forelock & doff me cap like the peasant I apparently am, all because I love a bit of sequin sparkle with trumpets and pomp.

LaMarschallin · 27/02/2023 09:24

Novella

So this isn't the first side chick being crowned ?

Is "side chick" your own invention (like "sidekick")?
I can see "Chuck", "Willy" and "magic hat" (or "golden hat"? Not sure), but looked up "side chick" and it seemed to be the female co-host on a radio station.
Is it also slang for "wife"?

Novella4 · 27/02/2023 12:26

It's slang for 'other woman'

jeffgoldblum · 27/02/2023 12:28

Isn't she the only woman now?
