The DM is reporting this (who else). Apprently Camilla's grandchildren are to play a prominent role in the coronation alongside the other heirs. Not sure I agree with this. Although I quite like Camila now although I didn't used to.

Camilla’s son is his godson

For some reason I find this extremely distasteful all things considered.

It’s quite common in those circles.

Andrew Parker Bowles is Zara’s godfather

Imagine if Camilla was on Mumsnet:

My DH is about to take part in a special event with his family which will include me (his second wife). We thought it would be nice to involve my grandchildren but lots of other people have taken offence and feel my husband's relatives should take precedence. AIBU to involve my grandchildren?

What's to stop your dh's children taking precedence but your children also being involved ?
Also, if your (2nd ) marriage was preceded by an affair between you, this can colour peoples judgements and the likelihood of criticism increases.

No one has any issue with Camilla's grandchildren being involved. It is the freezing out of Charles's grandchildren and son alongside her grandchildren children being involved.
Why not invite Archie for example to have a small part on his birthday?
Because Charles does not give a shit about Archie, that is why.

@EdithWeston
I'm haven't seen the 'divine right of kings ' misrepresented but I have seen lots of objection to Charles being automatically made head of the church
That is often what they are referring to

And btw - you are on a losing wicket trying to imply that tue removal of the divine right has in any way 'modernised ' the 'royals '

Equal rights ( you seem to passively accept that a queen can now make her husband a king ) , having the Mountbatten Windsors no longer above the law - and so much more
The form of monarchy the UK has is the most unreformed in Europe
It doesn't surprise me that posters think divine right of kings is still in place
Chick is above the law

There’s a huge difference between involving teenagers and a 4 year old.

No-one seems to have an issue with the fact George is guaranteed to be involved but his younger siblings are maybes.

🙈 I think Princess Anne and APB had a romance at one stage as well.

Honestly, it’s mind boggling.

They all get along together as a sort of extended family. It's not weird in those circles. I think if Diana had not died when she did that she would have remarried and continued to mix in similar circles so that now in her 60s we'd see similar photos at races, family occasions and social events where everyone is together and able to get along.

Photos with Anne, Zara and Andrew PB, and then Anne, Charles, Camilla and Andrew PB.

I had assumed Charlotte at least would be involved?

AmandaJonah · 02/03/2023 16:47

It is pretty incestuous. It is why they need every so often an injection of non aristocracy genes.

Only George is being considered to be involved. W&K feel Charlotte is still too young. According to press reports.

Will have to wait and see. QEII wasn't involved in her father's Coronation and she was a similar age to Charlotte - and his ceremony was 3hrs compared to Charles’s planned 1hr.

Sugarfree23 · 04/03/2023 00:24

I would assume Charlotte would have some role, just as she attended HMQs funeral. But I'd doubt Lewis or Harry's kids would be involved.

But they maybe can't find a suitable role for her other than looking like George's spare.
Charles (age 4) himself wasn't involved at the Queens Coronation he was in the congregation with the Queen Mother and Ann, I can't remember if Queen Mary was in the photos too.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 04/03/2023 00:32

Queen Mary died a couple of months before the coronation.

she’d left strict instructions it wasn’t to be cancelled in the event of her death.

EdithWeston · 04/03/2023 07:53

Previous coronations have certainly included pages, which can of course be quite young boys. But I don't think there's a parallel role which can be carried out by girls (female attendants that I can recall are all adult-size)

Perhaps they'll create something for her?

I think below school age is definitely to young, and with an actual role probably considerably older. Processing up the aisle and sitting with her mother might be possible?

Otherwise George only, and the rest on the balcony
