My friend just sent me this. I adore Gabor mate and the work he does. His book 'in the realms of hungry ghosts' was life changing for me who had suffered serious addiction issues. But am I being too harsh to feel disappointed he's jumping on this band wagon of garbage. I'm sorry but Harry we're sick of listening to your trauma and no offence you've sung it to death, (and I don't even think it's that bad relative to how much he has gone on and on about it) and trauma aside you're a complete hypocrite with how you've treated you're family and the trauma you've put them through!!

Max Spiers: The mysterious death of a conspiracy theorist (Part 1-4) - BBC Stories

Thank you for this link, @Plitvice - that's a hard watch.

Magic Mushrooms are natural psychedelics.

Harry was allowed to leave a military base after a drugs lock down

He was indeed, and as you implied it's now pretty obvious why

So much for the much-touted "wanting to be treated just like everyone else" Hmm

Howsimplywonderful · 07/03/2023 16:46

What are the consequences of failing a drugs test in the army ?

Looks like it's discharge from the service, which would not have been a good look for the grandson of the C in C British Armed Forces. To put it mildly.

Yes we have all been doing that - don’t engage with the pigeons playing chess….

Well, after hearing a renowned psychologist in the Amber Heard/Johnny Depp trial diagnose and publicly announce JD as bi polar based in large part from watching his Pirates of the Caribbean films nothing would surprise me. I'm not sure what the diagnoses would of been had he watched Willy Wonka!

I expect it's quite tricky to find an 'authentic' therapist in LA.

That was sooo funny, wasn't it? Such a gift for Johnny Depp. In fact, when I think back to that trial, Depps witnesses were so much more impressive but I wonder if it wasn't just that Depps lawyers were really prepared and just pulled Heard's witnesses apart. You can see how the overall effect of that swayed the jury.

Since Prince Harry has very publicly voiced his concerns about the well-being of William and Kate’s children, it doesn’t seem unreasonable for people to seek to examine his parenting of his own children.

Ooo, good point.

You may share some similar thoughts as that poster but I can assure you that the difference between you is night and day, you probably have missed what they have posted.
You have never to my knowledge been abusive to posters you disagree with.

Howsimplywonderful · 07/03/2023 17:22

@Roussette

You may disagree with posters but you would never be so crass as to post laughing emojis mocking fun at people who had shared their own experiences or their children’s experience of being diagnosed with adhd

StormzyinaTCup · 07/03/2023 17:31

@MarshaMelrose yes it was at times both very funny and also completely bizarre. What stood out in particular for me was how, if you have an unreliable client, you can have all your years of hard earned professional credibility wiped out in a matter of hours (and the case is lost). I expect it will be used as a teaching tool to all law students.

You interact with her if you like what she represents! You cannot tell others that they must interact with her if she offends them. I am not going to take her bait anymore.

GreenVeined · 07/03/2023 17:43

I suspect it will potentially enable him to help more people, with the publicity.

I'm now interested in what Dr. Gabor Maté has to say and previously I hadn't heard of him, although I vaguely recognise him now I've looked for a photo.

I doubt I'll watch the interview with Harry, as Harry as become almost unbearable to listen to. I'll definitely find some other interviews with Dr. Gabor Maté though, and that is a direct result of him doing this interview with Harry.

Definitely. He's a professional witness, too. He's done a lot of trials so I don't know how he could be just so bad. Ignoring all his mannerisms and tics, what he said, like judging Depps personality from his screen performances was just like the hugest WTF moments. Then him asking the judge if he had to answer a question because he felt he was having the Mickley taken! I wonder if this was the point Elaine felt the case slipping away....? As if it wasn't bad enough to keep hearing your client insisting that pledging and donating were the same thing... Oh and to have one of your partners on your own legal team introduce evidence that led to Depps lawyers being able to keep saying "Amber Turd". It was painful to watch. But also a little bit funny. (Sorry Amber. )

Seeing how that trial worked and watching it for yourself rather than relying on the newspaper reports that bore little resemblance to what you'd heard was an eye opener.

VixenTodd · 07/03/2023 17:49

I enjoyed the dramatized version over Christmas. We were all sat there watching it waiting for that Amber Heard moment involving the dog in the bed!

So some people want an echo chamber on here? No one’s mind grows if all we are feeding it is reflections of your own thoughts.

I can’t believe you are still trying to defend the indefensible, I wish if we could have a block button here, Harry is a drug addict, he has been in rehab before in the Uk and still using, I’m not a particularly fan of Meghan but this is his own doing and I do really started feeling sorry for her, specially the children

From everything I’ve read on these threads, my understanding is that Meghan also smokes weed. It’s been reported in the press she gave out bags of Marijuana at her first wedding. As for who got Harry interested in Ayahuasca, idk, however, it’s either a therapist or the circles he’s moving in. Possibly both. If the latter, Meghan is part of that circle and brought Harry into it rather than the other way around.

Plitvice · 07/03/2023 14:31

Thank you. I suppose that like Prince Harry, he was a typical British ex public school boy (only way more intelligent and articulate). He got into the same scene via US based girlfriends and completely lost his way. By the end, h was fair game because of the types of conspiracies he was promoting and they effectively turned him into a conspiracy theory in himself.

It is a decent documentary series also viewable on You Tube which may help others to understand the rabbit hole which Prince Harry has gone down:

Max Spiers: The mysterious death of a conspiracy theorist (Part 1-4) - BBC Stories

Thank you for the heads up Plitvice, I will definitely watch the documentary. I’m so sorry about your friend. And hope that Harry (and Meghan) won’t go down this route. If what you’re saying is correct, Charles must be very worried.

I disagree - IMHO people want an informed and interesting discussion with challenge that makes you reflect around this very complex and unique situation which impacts on many levels - personal values, race, gender, power, media, mis-information, culture, institutions etc

A highly emotive polarising debate dynamic is futile and disproportionate - it just triggers people to become entrenched and double down.

It’s important to recognise when there are disrupters involved who communicate in provocative ways and not let them hijack the debate and derail debate. It reminds me of the ERG - the minority squeaky wheel of politics that hyped a situation and was given disproportionate attention and airtime - which just divided and polarised people.
