My friend just sent me this. I adore Gabor mate and the work he does. His book 'in the realms of hungry ghosts' was life changing for me who had suffered serious addiction issues. But am I being too harsh to feel disappointed he's jumping on this band wagon of garbage. I'm sorry but Harry we're sick of listening to your trauma and no offence you've sung it to death, (and I don't even think it's that bad relative to how much he has gone on and on about it) and trauma aside you're a complete hypocrite with how you've treated you're family and the trauma you've put them through!!

I doubt they could arrest you for just saying you use it. I don’t think Harry would be knocked back when re-entering the US (white male &royal privilege). What goes for one should go for all, but we know some people are VIPs and a lot aren’t held to the same standards.

@Morestrangethings It was an American lawyer saying this. Lying about drug use on a visa application could result in immediate deportation. Drug use is not looked on fondly by the American immigration authorities.

As you say, it's probably a major difference if you are a rich prince than if you were a poor Mexican coming to work.

My friend broke her leg when living in SF and was prescribed OxyContin and she said she stopped taking it after one dose because she recognised how dangerous it was.

Do we know how the US are taking his military comments?

Painkillers are brutal in the US. My friend was prescribed something for a pain in the US and started on a slippery slope which culminated in him dying of a overdose some years later and bizarrely having a four part TV documentary made about his death 😫
If he had had the same back pain in the UK, then based on what they prescribe, I think he would have still been alive.

Harry was allowed to leave a military base after a drugs lock down, this must surely now be treated with a degree of suspicion too.

Drug abuse must be high with US veterans who often return with life changing injuries and are prescribed drugs as it’s cheaper than therapies.

Thank you. I suppose that like Prince Harry, he was a typical British ex public school boy (only way more intelligent and articulate). He got into the same scene via US based girlfriends and completely lost his way. By the end, h was fair game because of the types of conspiracies he was promoting and they effectively turned him into a conspiracy theory in himself.

For those who did not listen and are reading on here, thinking H is some kind of raging addict as being portrayed here and that somehow A&L will therefore also be some raging addicts. Nowhere does H say he is currently a drug addict. He does not refer to that, nor taking any in front of his dc.

Arguably, I agree with a poster who asked about alcohol as that is most damaging. Lots of parents of young children take a glass of wine sporadically, especially after the 'witching hour' when the DC are in bed. Does not mean daily or weekly. Does not mean they are a danger to anyone either. I would not imply they are some kind of raging alcoholics who will raise alcoholics in future. I'm sure even W&K have a glass now and again, does not mean their dc will somehow be alcoholics. Marijuana is legal in CA.

I'm no advocate for drug and smoking, but I do realise that they are harmful to others as far as you allow them to be with your interactions etc. If someone tells me they occasionally go out on a lash with mates, but there is a designated driver, they smoke outside (be in nicotine or other) far away from everyone in the evenings now and again, it's not something I would be outraged about.

A bit like smoking Kinnikinnick among Native Americans. Iboga in Africa, lots used for centuries.

I have heard of weed being medicinally prescribed, not nicotine or alcohol.

• H brings up distinction b/w drugs made from earth versus drugs made in labs
• GM talks about huge difference between modern drugs versus traditional medicines

-H says psychedelics was "cleaning of the windshield" and a "removal of life's filers"

• "Brought me a sense of relaxation, release, comfort, a lightness that I managed to hold onto for a period of time"
• Started doing it recreationally, realized "how good it was for me"
• Talks about needing support for psychedelics because a lot can come out for certain people
• GM brings up H's relationships in his growth in healing
• H says M has played a "huge" role in his life and healing

He’s hasn’t been in rehab in the UK. No. He visited a rehab facility with his father to gain some understanding of what addiction is about .
