The royal family

It is great how Kate is embracing her role as the People's Princess and carrying on Diana's legacy

Since she became POW, she seems to have a new confidence and people up and down the country seem to just adore her. If she is having an off day, she never lets it show. She is always smiling and joking and her spontaneous comment to her old history teacher really show her to be a nice, modest person and the best thing that happened to the RF.

People tend to use the Mother Theresa - Diana comparison, because they died with days of each other.

And for most of her life, Mother Theresa's work was beyond reproach. Sure, how it looked in the later years was flawed. But if you compare it to what was there before - ie nothing - it was an amazing achievement.

Fair point, was using her name as shorthand and can't think.of an immediately obvious substitution. I'm guessing you got the gist though?

Yes I got the gist. The point is romanticising a person, as people did with Diana is unhealthy.

@NotYt

If this was said the other way round, there would quite rightly be outrage!

pilates · 24/02/2023 08:38

I’m fine thanks @NotYt but it must so stressful being you

Somehow I don't think it is.
Niet - sorry, NotYt sprang into being yesterday and has exclusively posted on RF and Brexit threads (some a post every two minutes) to the detriment of the UK and its people since.

Their right, naturally, but I'm sure they'll take time later to recharge their batteries.

Goodread1 · 24/02/2023 09:42

Are you related to her in any way/ or a family friend?

Hi Carol 👋

Goodread1 · 24/02/2023 09:52

@NotYt

I detect racist overtures, with you,
Sounds very predictable 😴 and boring now yawn 🥱 zzzz thanks for helping me to sort my insomnia issues

One thing , to not be a fan of her or either of royal family

cassiatwenty · 24/02/2023 12:27

@NotYt Not cool, not cool at all. Glad MNHQ zapped it in time

LaMarschallin · 24/02/2023 13:26

I think NotYt won't be back.
At least, not in that guise.

jeffgoldblum · 24/02/2023 13:38

I reported it and mn sent me a thank you email saying they think the poster wasn't posting in good faith?

LaMarschallin · 24/02/2023 13:46

Sounds fair, jeff

Coxspurplepippin · 24/02/2023 13:57

All their posts across several threads have been zapped. I think you're right in your assessment LaMarschallin.........

Goodread1 · 24/02/2023 14:09

I like Kate,
I think she has to obviously project a persona that's just like a fashion horse and as bland controversy free as possible,
Personality wise beige , like too much vanilla ice cream as a kid it can become sickly sweet ,.
Need to have a bit of spice /variety

Which Prince Harry and Megs his wife. have created spice, ect
They have unwittingly made the Royal family seem more relatable, as in they have family issues ect,
Just like most people have sometimes or now and again,

It's laughable just for looking perfect ect she is venerated as a Goddess Divine,
When she has so much in house help with her family such as nanny butler cleaner ect

No wonder she allways presents as perfection personified,
With all that help behind scenes

It's as easy as A BC really
Nothing speacial

I think whatever qualifications she had from St Andrews University are being unfortunately wasted...
And same for her lovely daughter charollotte it will be too, when she grows up,
She sounds like a spirited headstrong child,

But alas
She will find like her late Grandmother Princess Diana, found out, her wings ,character will be clipped ,to fit into a throw back to different era in history, in gold glass cage
It's no fairystory like Princess Diana's step mothers mother
Barbera Cartland stories made it out. Be...

I prefer Kate, when she shows more personality
Like when she was either engaged or on honeymoon and she went topless on cruise ship ect,
Seems more normal
Not boring really

Goodread1 · 24/02/2023 14:11

Prince Harry and Megs have made unwittingly the Royal family seem a lot more interesting and relatable ironically
L.o.l 😃🤪

Goodread1 · 24/02/2023 14:15

The only thing I really admire about Kate is her highlighting how important early years are ect
As we all know a shit childhood experiences can have such a affect it can linger on long after childhood

I suspect behind scenes in comfort of own home with friends/family ect

She is probably a lot more fun
Reveals more of who she.really is and her opinions
When she doesn't have to have her gaurd up ect

purpledalmation · 24/02/2023 15:07

@Goodread1 I rarely correct other people's grammar, but it is etc. short for etcetera. Your use is correct though.

OutofEverything · 24/02/2023 15:14

Kate and Diana are very different kinds of women.

OutofEverything · 24/02/2023 15:19

@Goodread1 I remember someone commenting on here who worked with Kate. She just said she was very quiet and kept herself to herself. She seems like the kind of women for whom her family is very important and who prefers a few close friends and very close family. That is fine. But very different from Diana who seemed very outgoing and the kind who would love socialising in larger groups.
I don't know why some people always want to make Kate into something she is not. Why can't a woman have a quieter more reserved personality?

This article concentrates on post 1979, and does not invalidate my point.

If you look at what she was doing between 1948-1978, and compare it to what other provision was available at that time, then the picture is quite different.

If you want to start a thread about Mother Theresa, please go ahead but it's really not relevant here.

I was using her as a kind of shorthand for a saint, which is what we would have said in my family growing up as in "She's no Mother Theresa. "

I totally accept that it wasn't a useful comparison, but it wasn't the point I was trying to make, so it's kind of irrelevant to keep supplying the evidence on what is, after all, a thread about Kate Middleton.
