The royal family

It is great how Kate is embracing her role as the People's Princess and carrying on Diana's legacy

Since she became POW, she seems to have a new confidence and people up and down the country seem to just adore her. If she is having an off day, she never lets it show. She is always smiling and joking and her spontaneous comment to her old history teacher really show her to be a nice, modest person and the best thing that happened to the RF.

Prisoner of war?

EnterChasedByAMemory · 22/02/2023 10:31

I am assuming that it this context, POW = Princess of Wales. @Putitsimply It could be easily understood from the context as William is now Prince of Wales.

I personally get more confused when people use DF and DN and I’m not sure if they mean father or friend, niece or nephew etc. especially when a poster uses “they” to avoid things being outing etc. But in this case, it clearly obvious what OP meant.

Woman is good at her job. Groundbreaking!

EnterChasedByAMemory · 22/02/2023 10:36

@PacificallyRequested Actually given that there have been all sorts of mishaps with the royal family, it might indeed be “groundbreaking”. We shouldn’t be rushing to knock people down a peg if they choose to commend another woman’s work/accomplishments.

I think you missed the irony…

EdithWeston · 22/02/2023 10:40

Using old Sloane-speak, William became PoW, and Catherine became PoWess

The gushing forelock tugging of this board is hilarious

@Putitsimply I’m confused. What do you mean?

@LynneBenfield Did that make you feel better? I often come across this topic through active threads. If there’s something I don’t like, I just choose to hide it or just ignore. There’s a lot of discussion to be had on this topic so it’s not all “forelock tugging”.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 22/02/2023 10:54

Did you see her trip up the stairs at the BAFTAS lmao. Clumsy oaf.

Silvergone · 22/02/2023 10:54

She hasn’t changed at all. What has changed is the way the British media treat her. You’re not being shown pictures of her yawning or picking her nose because the British media would never portray a future Queen in that way. The closer someone is to the throne, the more flattering the press becomes. When the Queen died, coverage of Kate went up a level. When the King dies, the press will make Kate look saintly. If she ever divorces William, she’ll be ‘fair game’ again and there will be daily nasty stories about her.

Look how we were all constantly told how amazing Queen Elizabeth was. The press were only allowed to say nice things about her. In Kate Adie’s autobiography she mentions being royal correspondant on a royal tour and the Queen made a snide remark about the miners’ strike and the journalists were told they weren’t allowed to report it.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 22/02/2023 10:55

Her history teacher didn't even remember her. I guess it's hard to remember a wallfllower.

LadyKenya · 22/02/2023 10:56

Well she could always get a side hustle as a pancake maker, if she needs to make some money in the future.

This is satire isn't it ?

Novella4 · 22/02/2023 11:55

@silvergone

That's interesting re the queen being snide about the miners'strike

She also interfered in the Scottish referendum . And yes ' think very carefully' is NOT a neutral thing to say when you represent the status quo.
Here's how you are neutral - say nothing

This. Whenever I hear her speak she sounds almost half witted with the nonsense she comes out with.

They're really ramping up the crap with this early years stuff where she meets experts and shows herself up as being brainless.

adrianmolesmole · 22/02/2023 20:07

I'm sure this is a joke! Grin
Kate is pretty much crap at everything.

otherwayup · 22/02/2023 20:09

🤮
Hideous woman.
And so embarrassingly bland.

Nanalisa60 · 22/02/2023 20:09

She will never be Diana, but I think she is doing a great job, in fact since she hit her 40 birthday she seems to have got a lot more confidence.

She really does not do a step wrong in my eyes.

Theunamedcat · 22/02/2023 20:13

Thank goodness she won't be diana she had her good points but emotional stability was not one of them

PillBoxes · 22/02/2023 20:28

Job you say? I want a job like hers with all the trimmings and assistants. Thanks.

UWhatNow · 22/02/2023 20:35

Whatever your stance on the monarchy this a young mother with the eyes of the world on her every move and word. I’d like to see how some of the cynical posters on this thread would cope with that. Kate is exemplary and the RF is lucky to have her.
