Their standing in the US is at an all-time low. US audiences seem to hold them in the same contempt as people in the UK

perhaps we could use the railway’s definition:

16-25 Railcard - students/young
26-30 - young adults and “millennials” (sic)

Then, for age-defined cards it’s a jump to 60 for s Senior Railcard.

Harry is just an ordinary adult, but perhaps he and Meghan could get one of those Two Together cards, although I’m not sure they are valid on private jets…

AliceOlive · 23/02/2023 13:05

Erik Erikson, who a poster has now referenced twice, coined the phrase “identity crisis.”

I think both Harry and Meghan are likely to be experiencing an identity crisis after the extensive life changes they’ve experienced (and chosen) since 2018. Not criticizing them.

mixedrecycling · 23/02/2023 13:05

Family and Friends Railcard - as long as they have one of the kids with them ...

None of us can know until we've attended the "young adult groups" of which Sayitagainmyl speaks.

I can only hope I look as good when I actually reach middle aged

I hope so too, on your behalf.

Of course, this being the internet, you could be 92 and approaching middle age from the opposite direction for all anyone knows.

I only hope @Sayitagainmyl looks as good as my 92 year old neighbor does now. Or my other 92 year old neighbor. Or my 82 year old parents.

And we’d all be beyond lucky to be half as interesting, wise or kind as any of them.

An apt quote for the day:
“Envy is the religion of the mediocre. It comforts them, it soothes their worries, and finally it rots their souls, allowing them to justify their meanness and their greed until they believe these to be virtues.”

The only Zafon I've read is "Shadow of the Wind" which I enjoyed.
However, just because someone is a good writer doesn't mean everything they say is true.
Imo, the above quote doesn't hold up: envy is a very uncomfortable emotion which doesn't comfort or soothe anyone.
Just because something reads well and sounds impressive doesn't mean you have to believe it.

I'm pretty sure she hasn't read much either. It's memes from the University Of Google. Instant wisdom that is popular among fake-deep influencers including a certain Duchess.

LaMarschallin · 23/02/2023 16:45

It's memes from the University Of Google.

It may well be.
As I said, the quote didn't hold together for me.
So often people use quotes like a drunk uses a lamp post: for support rather than illumination.

Ooooh, good quote!

LaMarschallin · 23/02/2023 17:15

Ooooh, good quote!
All my own work, naturally... <polishes nails on lapel>

Actually, I don't where it originally comes from but highbrow me first read it in a Jilly Cooper book - "Prudence" I think.
It's a bit snappier than the Zafon one, at least.

LaMarschallin · 23/02/2023 17:23

Just looked it up out of interest (I'm having a really dull day - the builders are and I can't concentrate on anything or do anything productive) and it's by Andrew Laing.
It's actually "statistics" rather than "quotes" in the original, but it's a nicely adaptable phrase. To be fair to Ms Cooper, she quoted it correctly.

In many ways, Harry looks older than years because his skin is very weathered.

William has his mothers fair colouring and his skin looks great.

when Harry eventually embraces his hair loss, that will age him even more.

I’ve always thought H looked a bit scruffy and he looks even more so with a beard. M is beautiful obviously but H is far from handsome.

BeatricePortinari · 24/02/2023 14:01

H's looks have improved with age.(and the beard)
W's have declined.

Which H is very pleased about.

Plitvice · 24/02/2023 15:59

You do realise that he had also work done once he moved out there? Not as much as his wife but still, as about as much as many celebrity males in LA. Without the work, they are a short-ish couple hovering only slightly north of average.

Plitvice · 24/02/2023 16:01

Well, you probably do not realise because that is how brilliant the celebrity-preferred surgeons really are. There is such a thing as overdoing it but if you place your trust in them then the results will vastly improve your appearance.

SirChenjins · 24/02/2023 16:04

Not all celebrities - even the ones who can afford the best surgeons look odd after years of work. H&M are at the younger end of middle but if they continue down that road then give it a few years and they’ll get that puffy, immobile look that many of them sport.

ThighMistress · 24/02/2023 17:01

Men always seem to end up looking like rather odd ladies, with gleaming teeth too big for their gums and strange chrysanthemum hair arrangements.

Perhaps Harry will go to Madonna’s plastic surgeon 🫣

mixedrecycling · 24/02/2023 17:07

I'm hoping he'll go for Trump hair 😂

Really?
I wouldn't have thought either of them have had 'work' they look good but quite natural.

Do you think Kate's had 'work'?

What does work mean? Botox, fillers, more?

I don't think William has had 'work'!

Meghan has had the most work, I could write a long list. Kate has had some done (really upped it in last couple of years and it is not nearly as well done or natural looking). Harry has had some done (has improved him), William none at all.

ThePoshUns · 24/02/2023 17:29

Oh please write the list.I'm clueless about such stuff.

ThighMistress · 24/02/2023 19:48

Ages ago I suggested Harry had had Botox and I was deleted!!! i’m sure he will be having a hair transplant if not already. And work on his teeth.

Meghan has had her nose done. You can see that easily from old pictures.

I think Williams early balding has affected how he is perceived. When you see him in uniform and wearing a hat, he is still good looking.

Harrys wee tuft of frizz on the top of his head looks daft. Not a “comb over” but dangerously close to a “comb back”

TrashyPanda · 24/02/2023 23:57

Or rather a “comb forward”

its late and I’m tired.

The media will eventually stop hammering Meghan because people will have heard it all. And will have grown bored - no more clicks

Agreed, as the younger royals enter their teens, M&H will fast become middle-aged has-beens, no one will be interested in them

no one will be interested in them

Except you!!

sydneysunset · 26/02/2023 06:23

Except you!!

As individuals, I find them particularly uninteresting, but their unstoppable downfall has been fascinating to watch

The latest US polls show they are now less popular than Prince Andrew!

Yes I find them uninteresting but their arrogance fascinating.
