Their standing in the US is at an all-time low. US audiences seem to hold them in the same contempt as people in the UK

Good thing that they’re not.

Was that to me?
If so, I'm sorry, I don't catch your drift.

Mumsnut · 22/02/2023 12:43

They're not suing? Their spokesperson has pooh-poohed the idea

Ah! I see. That does seem sensible of them.
Still thought it was a quote worth...well, quoting as it's funny in any context.
Imo.

LaMarschallin · 22/02/2023 12:48

I'd better say "many other contexts" rather than any context - I'm sure someone could come up with a scenario when it wasn't funny.

Harry is younger than both W&K. Also, there is only a one year difference in age between MM and KM. The real difference is MM looks much younger than KM.

They both look exactly what they are, attractive women in their 40’s.

wishingyouwell · 22/02/2023 14:41

@Lizziet64 indeed they did.
The racist Daily Mail have spent the last few days spinning a different story though.

There was quite a commentary in the Times today about reports that the Sussexes are looking into whether they could sue South Park.
Sadly, the Times has a paywall so I can't link, but it finished with a quote from Groucho Marx:
If you find it hard to laugh at yourself, I'd be happy to do it for you.

goldierocks

Thank you! That's thoughtful of you.
No, shamingly I always read T2 before the main paper and it was a piece in that on page 2 by Carol Midgley.
Just a bit of fluff, but amusing.

(I'm afraid I'm one of the few people left who take the paper copy of the Times - I like the crossword and find it more pleasant to solve with pen and paper)

goldierocks · 22/02/2023 14:54

No problem! Here you go:-)

LaMarschallin · 22/02/2023 14:56

Thank you Smile

Claims are 'boring and baseless'.

Carry on quoting from the racist Daily Mail though.

The "baseless and boring" quote came direct from the Sussexes own spokesperson. From the article :

"....their spokesperson told Newsweek claims the saga "may have legal ramifications" are "baseless and boring."

Primary source (not the Daily Mail)

You’re welcome, anytime! 🙂

Plitvice · 22/02/2023 15:04

SP has made those two dullards appear more interesting than anything they do themselves. I hope they thank them for the service!

wishingyouwell · 22/02/2023 15:04

@goldierocks
Yes it did.

The point is the racist Daily Mail had pedalled a completely false story for days. Repeated by many posters on here.

What does how old anyone looks have to do with their biological age if the point was that they are not actually young, but in their 40’s? Just an excuse to have a nasty bitch about their looks?

If it's acceptable to routinely mention that this couple is not 'young' (which happens often on these 'bitchy' threads) when that is relative, I think it's fine to give an opinion on whether or not a person wears it well. I suspect those that constantly bring up MM's age and attempt to persuade others that Harry is middle aged - despite being 38 (so not middle aged at all) - are far older than the couple themselves. So what's the point in mentioning their ages at all?

But no one else was talking about whether they wear their age well. They were talking about their actual ages and saying they are not young. Which they are not. They are close to or in their 40’s. Which is very different from being a young person in their twenties. So your comment about KM looking older was not in any way relevant It was a cheap shot.

Again, as you missed the point: If it's acceptable to routinely mention that this couple is not 'young' (which happens often on these 'bitchy' threads) when that is relative, I think it's fine to give an opinion on whether or not a person wears it well. You seem to be under the impression that you can dictate what should and what should not be permitted to comment on based on your obvious biased opinions of both couples. For reference, you can't. You don't have the authority. As referencing age is so important to some on here, I will say that as a person in their 30's I think MM looks great for her age, or otherwise. And I would also have no problem referring to them as a 'young' couple.

PicturesOfDogs · 22/02/2023 16:14

They need to play into it I think.
Harry was always known as a ‘cheeky chappie’ type. That’s what endeared people ti hun. They’re too serious now, always moaning.

Meghan needs to do a photoshoot with the sprawling sights of Hollywood behind her, looking dead into camera, wearing a white hat and a ‘stop looking at us’ T-shirt

That’s what I’d do

I think both women look great and wear their age well. You can say what you like. No where did I say you couldn’t. Not do I pretend to have any authority over you. I just pointed out that you were drawing attention to their looks, which imo was not relevant. I didn’t miss your point. Posters are referring to their age because saying they are “young” is factually untrue, whether you want it to be or not. They are not “old”of course, but they are not “young” either. Otherwise we would have to say that people in their twenties are still children. Do you think no one ever grows up or gets older?

pilates · 22/02/2023 16:26

“The real difference is MM looks much younger than KM.“

Was that necessary?

They both look good which is helped by having vast amounts of money. Stop making it a competition. You’re just as bad as the tabloids.

Well actually what you’ve said isn’t true. Definitions on what qualifies as a young adult vary. However, the term ‘young adult’ is generally used to refer to individuals between the ages of 18 to 35 or 39 years. That would make Harry a young adult by definition – ‘whether you want it to be or not!’ You’ve obviously not been to many young adult groups, I take it.

Dealswithpetty · 22/02/2023 16:36

@pilates There are many comments on here that are not necessary. When you object to those then you could have a point.

StormzyinaTCup · 22/02/2023 16:38

I'm pretty sure the definition of 'Young Adult' is the first few years after adolescence so from ages 18-25 .There is no way a man of 39 is a young adult.

derxa · 22/02/2023 16:46

Harry and Meghan are a drop dead gorgeous young couple who are very much in love. It's a love that people who are older or not 'hot' dare not even begin to aspire to.
