Has anyone posted about this hearing to dismiss yesterday?

Ellie Hall of Buzzfeed was tweeting. twitter.com/ellievhall/status/1625944386382008346

My opinion? Samantha is an ass who purposely humiliated Meghan, every chance she got. I hope they throw out the case and reprimand Samantha+ her attorney for being grifters and wasting the court's time.

Samantha and Meghan have one thing in common - they are both very unlikeable in different ways. I wonder if that runs in the family?
I wonder if the allegation that Meghna made up stories about winning scholarships will be addressed. I have to say, it makes perfect sense to me.

skullbabe · 17/02/2023 12:48

Why would an allegation about Meghan’s scholarships be brought up in a defamation trial with Samantha?

Presumably because they are untrue and support a rags to riches story which implies Samantha and her family, plus maybe Dorias side, were some kind of trailer inhabitants and Samantha finds this demeaning? However telling lies doesn't make for defamation except in specific circumstances and I don't think this meets the criteria.

In defamation they can argue that it leads to credibility and if restated as fact in legal procedures used as impeachment of testimony. This is from me watching the Depp/ Heard trial!

purpledalmation · 17/02/2023 13:49

@Boulshired Ah the 'clean hands' policy. I watch judge Judy as well as heard v depp. 😀

Being 'fundamentally dishonest in English civil cases, does throw into doubt your credibility.

Case still has no legs but what a circus.

maranella · 17/02/2023 13:51

How can describing yourself as an only child hurt and humiliate an older step sibling?

Samantha Markle is a HALF sibling, not a step. She and Meghan have their father in common. A step sibling is the offspring of your step-parent.

It’s probably why Harry and Meghan cannot take Tom Bower to court, whatever is not true in his book cannot be exposed by them without the risk of admitting truths they don’t want to confirm.

I am still in disbelief that the legal case that Samantha has brought has even got this far.

skullbabe · 17/02/2023 14:15

People who have scholarships are not all rags to riches or trailer park residents - and there is nothing wrong with being very poor or being from a trailer park.

Should be interesting if used in the case.

True but that doesn't mean Meghan didn't feel.like she grew up as an only child ,her half siblings were significantly older than her and she doesn't have a close sibling bond with them ,and it doesn't really matter if other posters feel they have a close sibling bond with their much older/ younger half siblings, feelings are subjective .
Meghan ,s not denying they are half siblings ,just that she feels she grew up.as an only child and to.all intents and purposes she did.

Stuff like this is the main reason I didn’t marry someone rich and famous or become famous myself.

Who’s with me?

I'm with you, but even it i'd wanted to there weren't any offers lol

AliceOlive · 17/02/2023 17:09

I suspect they sensed the futility of making the offers to you, @purpledalmation

I agree @AliceOlive

However, in my experience, this scrutiny they have had is like nothing I have seen before. Though I do not live in the UK.

Oh yes, that's the reason 😁 We keep things ourselves that, anyway! 😂

SM has proved herself to be awful. Yet people still think M should have invited her to the wedding!

People have opinions all over the map. Why focus on particular opinions that you believe are wrong?

I agree. I'd run a mile from any relationship that could make me famous. Rich would be nice.

Rich comes with it's own problems. And it's own, often controlling in-laws.
No, we are better off not famous and not rich.

Now let's talk about how being too attractive would absolutely be the worst. 😂

You called?

purpledalmation · 17/02/2023 20:45

Listening to a British barrister on you tube. V interesting. Looks like the book finding freedom is also going to form part of the case, although it would be harder to prove these statements came directly from Meghan. The fact that she did email scobie with information and they might only be information she would have known 'on the balance of probabilities' may swing it. So it's not just about the only child thing. It's a proper train wreck.

I almost feel sorry for Meghan as she's under fire on all sides...then I think about the Oprah's interview where she states 'conversations were had about Archie's skin colour and not getting a title and security and intimated there were multiple discussions with her during the pregnancy about it ...and the breathtaking dishonesty of every word removes my sympathy completely.

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 20:49

@purpledalmation , yes it's hard to find sympathy for someone when they are suddenly on the receiving end of behaviour they have also indulged in.
Karma always shows up in the end .

purpledalmation · 17/02/2023 20:55

@jeffgoldblum Yes, you think it can't get any worse, then along comes South Park!

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 20:57

@purpledalmation 🤣🤣🤣 , I know , I can't help thinking of that song ....
I started a joke that got the whole world laughing.....

GretnaGreenIsLovely · 18/02/2023 10:43

Well, I know this goes against the grain on here a bit, but I like Thomas M, and Samantha could b worse. I think Megan's biggest mistake was treating her family like dirt when she decided to marry a prince. Would have been better to treat them with respect rather than side line them. Of course they feel hurt and they want revenge.

I'm a little indifferent to MM but I can't stand lying and narcissism, both of which she and Harry appear to hold as core values. If Samantha's case shines further light on lies, I'm all for it.

Best way to get through this world with your dignity and respect in tact - don't lie, be kind, don't diss your family in public. It's that simple. Both MM and Samantha would be wise to heed this advice. However, Sam has less to lose and already feels out of her depth, side lined and unliked by many. She and Thomas also don't have advisors or access to the kind of help that might have helped her keep quiet. MM has all the help she could ver wish for (despite alleging otherwise), so she'd be wise to take it.

I kind of think the royal family who have years of practice at this kind of thing, have very sensible advice - never complain, never explain. There's a reason they hold this and despite Harry's rebellion, he'd have been better off sticking with this advice from his elders. He also would have been wise to have advised his wife of this mantra and avoided Oprah etc...

MM and H will.leqrn eventually .... or they'll just keep doing what they r doing and going from bad to worse. It's up to them!

How can you like somebody you don't know anything about ?
and how much worse could Samantha get ,she's made an absolute tit,if herself ,,she didn't appear to.have any kind of relationship with Meghan before ,Meghan married Harry ,and now takes every opportunity to slag her off .
