"Kate's Rebranding Masterclass May Finally See off Meghan"

MrsMaxDeWinter · 08/02/2023 14:13

"Five months since she moved up to the second tier of the monarchy, the Princess has started beefing up her top team to make sure she succeeds not only with her “life’s work” on child development, but also with the task of besting Meghan Markle."

Why does Meghan have to look bad for Kate to look good? Why does Meghan need to be bested or seen off? Why is it a competition?

No, I think she has you down to a t - you do seem very loyal and devoted to Meghan.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 09/02/2023 15:59

I like Meghan's energy, and enterprise. I like Harry. I wish them both well because there is nothing they have done that justifies the levels of vitriol they receive. I think Meghan has been subjected to a toxic combination of spite, xenophobia and racism. I am extremely critical of the press coverage of her, and of the royals more generally to be frank because it confuses gossip with facts, as the story we are discussing does. I think a comms strategy that encourages salacious gossip, opaqueness and lack of transparency is poor form, and puts the Royal family in a very bad light, rendering them a tacky soap opera.

If that makes me "devoted and loyal to Meghan" then damn straight, I am. And happy to be!

So you don't think gossiping to the media is a bad thing then? Let's face it they started it a long time ago what with Finding Freedom The Revenge and the Poor Us comments during the African tour?

You must be a big fan of blabbermouth Markle Senior too then? Lovely.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 09/02/2023 16:22

I think they have definitely overshared some things in the media, and I do wish they would understand that they are only feeding the media monster by trying to explain themselves.

That said, there is nothing they have said that justifies the level of vitriol and hatred directed at them.

Thank you @SirChenjins 🙂Of course OP would make a much better lady in waiting than Lady Susan Hussey, this goes without saying, much improved.

KrasiTime · 09/02/2023 16:35

Both women have their own great styles. They don’t need to be in competition. They are imo stunning both with fabulous figures that I would quite frankly kill for.

Absolutely agree 👏

All this mess is the royal family's fault in the first place. All of it.

Meghan was fresh and dynamic and modern, with a hard work ethic. If they were smart, they would have ridden her coattails for a while, she would have made them all popular! But they aren't a smart bunch. they were jealous and petty and didn't protect her. They also underestimated Harry's love for her. If kate wasn't so stuck up Meghan could have helped her with her speech nerves. W an K wouldn't need to work soo hard either (poor things) if she was still there Grin

🙄No acknowledgment of the hurt they've caused many people. It's quite astonishing.

I think comparing two women like they are prize goats is awful, anti-feminist and disrespectful to all women. Blows my mind that anyone would believe are doing either one of them a favor by promoting this media tripe. Even sadder that it's women engaging in this for entertainment.

Journos touting the same old narrative of "woman vs woman".

Sigh.

Not just journos.

Scrutiny and criticism, that is what it has been. Let's not be overly dramatic, I do wish folk would desist with the 'haterz' crap.

They wanted to do their own thing, Lord it over everyone and were told no. They were told no to 'Sussex Royal USA!' and did not like it one little bit. The subsequent attention seeking petulant behaviour is all because they weren't allowed to do as they like.

Glad to know you agree they 'overshared'. Yes discussing William's penis and calling someone a 'not hot women with a hunch back' could be called 'obersharing' I suppose Confused.

Still their enablers in the US seem to backing away so I do wonder how they'll earn their grubby dollars in the future. I mean there's the Coronation but even if Harold does have the brass neck to come I doubt he'll get much more than 'bit chilly out' conversation wise. Not much to fill a chapter on.

If it's a competition, Kate will never win it!

Meghan is a natural beauty.

She is great at public speaking, really kind and warm and married for love not a title like Kate did.

She was and is so much more popular than Kate, she's just like Diana, a princess of the people.

Meghan would be a much better queen than Kate and @MrsMaxDeWinter would make an amazing lady in waiting as she is genuinely loyal and devoted to the Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan for queen👑

Dearie me.

Bugeyedowl · 09/02/2023 18:46

@derxa They are operating from a place of hurt themselves, especially Harry. (Decades of it, in his case.) Meghan was suicidal and was not helped by them. They left not because they wanted everything their way but because they wanted to get their sanity back. Meghan tried really hard when she joined and did a lot of successful work in two years, but none of that seems to have been appreciated. All she got was loads of bitchy and racist comments slagging her off, and no support from the family.

The Royals are not this perfect family of angelic beings anointed by God, that Mumsnetters seem to think, who do everything perfectly and always have the best intentions and never put a foot wrong. They are just a controlling, toxic family of bog-standard humans, living on stolen wealth, with a lot of ego and ugly traits and selfishness about them. And they're not very clever or kind either.

purpledalmation · 09/02/2023 18:47

@MrsMaxDeWinter

Which of course is exactly what M&H have done from the outset because of the rejection of halfin/halfout.gate.
Who made the racist comment? (opaqueness) What specific stories were given to the press to make meghan look bad (lack of transparancy) Who said Kate had baby brain and was called Waity Katy? (salacious gossip).

ArcaneWireless · 09/02/2023 18:49

and the same could be said about…

ArcaneWireless · 09/02/2023 18:50

Bold fail. Apologies.

purpledalmation · 09/02/2023 18:51

@MrsMaxDeWinter Do you honestly think it is explaining yourself to tell the world you brother is circumcised and going bald, you shagged the hired help and ghosted her, to tell the world you made fun of a disabled woman, that your child won't get a title because of his skin colour, ...I could go on but its pointless.

Meghan was suicidal and was not helped by them I would expect my DH and mother to help in a case like this. Neither did.

Coxspurplepippin · 09/02/2023 18:54

'Meghan was suicidal and was not helped by them. They left not because they wanted everything their way but because they wanted to get their sanity back. Meghan tried really hard when she joined and did a lot of successful work in two years,'

The person who should have helped Meghan was her husband.

They were together as part of the RF for a scant 18 months, much of which Meghan would have been on maternity leave for. I imagine they had plans to leave either before they were married or shortly thereafter, no time to give things a chance. We know Harry had dreams of moving to, living and working in Africa. Their lives now seem so far removed from his dreams. I wonder what went wrong?

purpledalmation · 09/02/2023 18:57

@Bugeyedowl
Meghan was suicidal and was not helped by them
Meghan likes to embroider her 'truth' and I think this was one of them. It was not for the RF to help Meghan initially, it was her husband. After all he had his therapist on speed dial. Just explain how she was denied help?

purpledalmation · 09/02/2023 19:00

FWIW Meghan has done harry the greatest of favours by encouraging him to leave the RF. He has never been happy within it (see book Spare for details) and has wanted nothing more than to leave. He didn't envision California, more like Africa, and he didn't envision celebrity life or being part of a reality TV show, but that just goes to show you should be careful what you wish for!

Bugeyedowl · 09/02/2023 19:04

She asked the palace if she could go to a clinic but was denied because of how it would "look". She wasn't allowed to just go by herself. It seems the palace actively tried to stop her from getting help, for optics reasons. Harry said he tried to ask too but they said no. Yes he could have and should have done more, he says that himself and says he feels rightfully ashamed that he didn't. I think he's learned a lesson there.

Her mother was in a different country and Meghan was trapped in the palace. How's her mother supposed to break through? Through the window?

I can't believe that that stupid woman who says she slept with Harry when he was 16 gets more sympathy on this site than a woman who says she was suicidal!! Wonder why?

Meghan was not 'trapped in a palace'. Her mother could have flown to London but she didn't
