If King Charles asked people not to boo the couple and did a deal with newspapers and TV to not print pictures of them or comment on their appearance, do you think they would come.

If there was a total news blackout where they were concerned (which I would just love!) so we didn't have to even see them, (apart from a passing glimpse), i think I could bear them coming. Daddy clearly want them there. Fatted calf and all that.

Would this get around the problem of them taking the spotlight away from the actual ceremony?

Most people in the country don't want them to come. The booing last time was embarrassing. This time it would be deafening

Interesting, I don't remember any booing? Also, I'm a big fan of Harry and Meg, as are a majority of younger people. So I guess you speak for yourself, and for the rest of the daily mail reading boomers?

oh oh agree there was no booing - at least from what I saw. And highly doubt there will be any of it if they do come to the coronation.

I’m a boomer and believe it or not we are not all one mind. I wouldn’t believe anything I read in the DM and any of Murdoch’s media either (the man who brought us Trump for a start). They are just shite stirring destroyers of culture & deniers of climate crisis, bent on creating divisiveness amongst people.

Nice of you to extend the invite and grin and bear it, I'm sure they'll appreciate.

What is it with these threads.

BlackFriday · 13/02/2023 08:04

What do you mean, you "agree" there was no booing? It's there on the video footage. Quite audible.

I think that they will arrange H&M's positions so that they are always nearby to more popular people, so that anyone wanting to boo (ffs, pretty immature) might be less likely to do so if it "hits" someone they like.

They have to be invited and I'm pretty sure they will have been. Charles is about to be officially crowned Head of the Church, which is all about Christian forgiveness. He can't exactly make those vows when the elephant in the room would be that he had excluded his own son, even if that son is perceived to have deserved it.

SirChenjins · 13/02/2023 08:48

@Morestrangethings there was booing - re-watch and turn up your volume. If you're still not convinced then google 'Harry Meghan booing' and you'll see it was widely covered in the media (and not just the media belonging to the Murdoch empire).

ThighMistress · 13/02/2023 08:57

I think they should be more worried about a few well-aimed very squashy tomatoes…

Agree with pps about The Prodigal Son. Very close to home so it’s always made me seethe. Parents - they always play it wrong!!

Graduate of the Kelly Ann Conway School Of Alternative Facts.

Plitvice · 13/02/2023 10:06

I think they will be fine if they come. I don't think they will be treated badly by the public. They have lost their mystique due to over-exposure so nobody seems to care about them either way. Family would tolerate them in formal situations while keeping personal conversations out of earshot. They are now a plastic, American couple living on the other side of the world making expensive memories to sell an image.

ExistenceOptional · 13/02/2023 10:07

And yet you can't all stop talking about them.

Morestrangethings · 13/02/2023 10:35

@BlackFriday @Ridemeginger @SirChenjins

This is what I wrote: oh agree there was no booing - at least from what I saw.

‘At least from what I saw’

So nothing wrong with my hearing, nor am I an ‘alternative fact’ person. But all three of you needing to have a go at me because of ‘booing’ is really over the top.

You’d all do well to read more comprehensively before jumping in.

SirChenjins · 13/02/2023 11:16

Oh fgs - no-one is having a go. How about rather than agreeing that there was no booing as far as you saw you that you watch it again and look up booing/H&M? None of us have fabricated the booing.

I don’t care.

What don't you care about?

Well, isn't that kind of us? They'd be so upset if no one did. To be totally off everyone's radar would be their worst nightmare

As if they need your radar. Nor the Fail's hateful one actually.

They have a huge following on SM and other publications. I just only heard the other day that Archewell announced this year's WellChild submissions are open.

Never saw it in any of the UK news/papers. T
WellChild awards sounds more like 'public interest' than hunting down some teen shag from decades ago.

SirChenjins · 13/02/2023 14:51

The 2023 WellChild Awards, in association with GSK? Yes, it's on their website along with the words "Prince Harry has today shared a video message calling for everyone to spread the word that nominations for the Awards are now open and to nominate someone you know today". Other celebrities also give their time and resources to WellChild - it's a well known charity.

Plitvice · 13/02/2023 14:57

I just only heard the other day that Archewell announced this year's WellChild submissions are open.

Oh how helpful of them. What would we do without that kind of philanthropy?

notanotheroneagain · 13/02/2023 15:07

Good on WellChild for having other ambassadors, means a reach to different audiences.

Myself I did not read or hear anything on the telly from those ambassadors, presumably their followers have. Guess that is the case for all royals, not clear what your point is.

Duke of Sussex is their patron. That is how I heard the news and from what I've seen how a lot of people internationally have heard. Indeed, have seen the International followers of H&M in other countries online promote this and charity and have seen them donate in the past.

Don't know why I would not be among the first to hear about it considering I am in the UK. Which is my point, what good is this UK media, especially tabloids who constantly report on this couple/royals.

I’m sure that the children with complex needs appreciate their efforts. I’m not sure why raising awareness is a bad thing just because H&M are involved.

SirChenjins · 13/02/2023 15:26

Yes, PH is their Patron - I'm not sure what your point it? Most of the Royals have patronages as do many celebrities, and these are not covered widely in the UK newspapers. It's a great charity and I hope he and the other famous supporters of WC bring in a lot of money for them.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/02/2023 15:37

So is there any real active involvement here, or is it merely another bit of PR for the foundation?

Not that there's anything wrong with raising awareness no matter who's doing it, but as with other RF members I appreciate knowing what's down to their own efforts and what's not

milti · 13/02/2023 20:40

Arsewell - give us your money and we’ll give a tiny percentage away and keep the rest

She looks most displeased - which in queen terms means bloody horrified
