If King Charles asked people not to boo the couple and did a deal with newspapers and TV to not print pictures of them or comment on their appearance, do you think they would come.

If there was a total news blackout where they were concerned (which I would just love!) so we didn't have to even see them, (apart from a passing glimpse), i think I could bear them coming. Daddy clearly want them there. Fatted calf and all that.

Would this get around the problem of them taking the spotlight away from the actual ceremony?

I’ve seen some of the footage of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth ll. Of course it was in black and white but it seemed the more dramatic for it. One scene stands out in my memory, the lords and ladies in long robes and their royal/aristocratic head gear and the clothing looks white, but it’s all shimmering, it’s as though they are all shimmering, almost inhuman, ghostly entities standing in the rows of pews/ seats on either side of Westminster Abbey with darkness behind them, looking down as the young queen on her throne is crowned. Excellent extraordinary footage - lighting and clothing and black and white celluloid made it look otherworldly. It really was extremely theatrical. Whomever was in charge of the filming knew what they were doing.

I’m obviously not a royalist, but I’ll be watching Charles’ coronation for sure. The Queens’s funeral, all the weddings, Diana’s funeral - happy or sad occasions, they are all also theatre. The Brits really know how to do ceremony. (I’m just not sure how it’s going to go down with so many British people being financially strapped and unable to meet living costs.).

As for the booing. Well H is not the one who had eggs thrown at him. Twice.

Though I do suspect that woman with a microphone and bower bible bashing will be there to boo. 😂😂😂

Whowhatwherewhenwhy1 · 12/02/2023 00:51

Its going to be tricky. If H stays away to prevent the media furore and booing he will be tarred and feathered. If he attends nobody will want to sit with him or have any sort of conversation with him because all trust is gone and it is quite clear that to Harry every gesture and every conversation is fair game for his books and interviews. Even if he says he wont repeat anything, the trust is gone and nobody will believe him. I cannot inagine anyone other than his father will have any interest in speaking to him or mixing with him. He is quite clearly prepared to shit on anybody and everybody to make a fast buck.

Jux · 12/02/2023 01:20

I suppose whether they're invited or not, we'll be subjected to another load of whinging from H? Obvs if he's not invited he'll whine, but if he is he'll whine that he couldn't come because everyone hates him and would be mean, or he'd come and everyone would be mean. Whinge whine. Whinge whine.

Morestrangethings · 12/02/2023 01:36

Harry and Meghan have gone very quiet (Harry said they would for quite a while, I think), so why don’t those who find them annoying just enjoy the quiet?

Yep. They have foolishly burned all their bridges. Talk about persona non grata.

BadgerB · 12/02/2023 09:12

If they're invited either both or neither will come. I suspect H is not bothered but M loves to be seen on important occasions. She will be there, if possible , wearing a wildly expensive but ill-fitting outfit

milti · 12/02/2023 09:32

Im sure everyone will not be delighted to have them there - they’ll be there - 💰

Im sure everyone will not be delighted to have them there ...

I thought someone would post that picture, milti ... as ever the media can pick an image to suit, but let's just say their reputed "massive popularity" isn't exactly evident among those around them

purpledalmation · 12/02/2023 16:40

Think the organisers need to look at the seating and maybe build an extra pillar or two so we don't even have to see them

If they're invited they won't have a pivotal role anyway and I doubt anyone would be rushing to talk to them through fear what they say will be shared with the world. Its his son after all though so hopefully they're invited.

Ohnonevermind · 12/02/2023 17:25

They might as well sit in the reporters section of the Abbey, better to be transparent

SirChenjins · 12/02/2023 17:28

I think they’ll come to please Charles and support him, but if they’ve got any sense they’ll use Archie’s birthday as a reason for heading off straight afterwards. The RF will probably be reluctant to spend much time with them for fear of having their conversations repeated in their next offering to the world and I can’t imagine they will be welcomed with open arms - Harry said too much in the book and in his interviews.

Ohnonevermind · 12/02/2023 17:36

Hopefully some posters will realise that some of the RF may well wear matching colours and it won’t be about ‘bullying Meghan’ like the nonsense we had after the memorial

Ohnonevermind · 12/02/2023 17:37

Memorial - should have read carol service

Ohnonevermind · 12/02/2023 17:39

I wonder if their Coronation invite will be delivered by the same people who ‘delivered’ Thomas Markle’s wedding invite 😀

Bracing for a pregnancy announcement. Good way of getting out of international travel and stressful depositions.

namechanged221 · 12/02/2023 19:12

Most people in the country don't want them to come. The booing last time was embarrassing. This time it would be deafening

Interesting, I don't remember any booing? Also, I'm a big fan of Harry and Meg, as are a majority of younger people. So I guess you speak for yourself, and for the rest of the daily mail reading boomers?

Ridemeginger · 12/02/2023 19:15

The booing was audible on the TV news coverage, as they came out of the Jubilee church service. Maybe it's not "the boomers" who need hearing aids.

Quite 😂

Does that mean if @namechanged221 doesn’t remember it then it didn’t happen?

entirelyesspresso · 12/02/2023 22:56

They will embarrass themselves if they attend - after everything they've said about the RF - and confirm what areseholes they are.

Did anyone really take the burgundy outfits seriously?
