If King Charles asked people not to boo the couple and did a deal with newspapers and TV to not print pictures of them or comment on their appearance, do you think they would come.

If there was a total news blackout where they were concerned (which I would just love!) so we didn't have to even see them, (apart from a passing glimpse), i think I could bear them coming. Daddy clearly want them there. Fatted calf and all that.

Would this get around the problem of them taking the spotlight away from the actual ceremony?

@ancientgran I have a teenager and two dcs in their early twenties, so that’s why I’m particularly angry about this. My friend’s ds (20) is really struggling with his mental health and she can totally connect his low moods to his drug use. He refuses to accept it though. The other week he went on an all nighter and spent the next couple of days tearful and unable to sleep. He refuses to accept there may be a link between his poor mental health and his drug use so imagine he hears H saying that. He will feel justified. (He attends counselling but hasn’t told the counsellor about his drug use as he doesn’t see the relevance.)

Yeah, and Harry the son of a King. No one will go after him.

Even the wealthy here get away with shit a poor person cannot. I promise the offspring of a reigning monarch won’t be busted for just talking about using drugs. What authority would bother to open an case and investigate?

Well that was why I said if he was just regular Harry - even celebrities (Nigella etc) get slapped on the wrist every now and then.

I'm part of a big immigration community and ordinary people get very punitive measures for even small issues with drug use or even excessive alcohol use when applying for visa and green cards.

Also even if you go all the way through the system and take citizenship - if you are found later to have lied at any point during the citizenship it can be revoked.

Natural born citizens are different so travel in and out of the country with drug use/convictions doesn't affect them in the same way.

headstone · 06/03/2023 20:02

Amy Winehouse was another high profile druggie to be denied entry, although she was obviously worse then Harry.

purpledalmation · 06/03/2023 20:05

@notanotheroneagain Re Camilla becoming queen, or at least marrying Charles. You quote Harry's book, which is .... Harry's take on things. 'Playing a long game', 'abetted by a spin doctor'. What utter BS language. Charles has always loved Camilla and always wanted to marry her. He loves her. She loved him. He was divorced. They got married like many many people following a divorce. No conspiracy. Her children are now Charles step children. Of course they will play a part. They're family. They seem happy. Harry's opted out of the family, yet he's jealous of his step siblings.

@Novella4 I've never made a comment on the difference between a coronation and an inauguration, so you can take me off your list! Especially as I do know the difference.

@jeffgoldblum I can just see some memes... the archbishop putting the Harry Potter sorting hat on the kings head 😂

@DaphneduM. I don't think William has anything to worry about Camilla's children taking over. They are now step siblings (?) and part of a blended family, of course they should take part until the kids are bigger. And the frogmore cottage lease ends in June, after the coronation. H&M know this as they signed it, so they have somewhere to stay. It's always been the case. The decision was one of practicality so not great conspiracy

@LadyVictoriaSponge. Novella also needs to prove the UK coronation will make us laughingstocks as she says. No proof...still waiting,

@Lizziet64. If they every genuinely paid it, they would be repaid. However I think it was Charles all along as he paid a full year for them in America despite Harry saying he was immediate it off.

@VixenTodd. Harry has said (in the book) but he was saying it not a report of him saying it, they were talking about leaving in 2018. So the expensive waste of money (but oh my it sure kicked off their 'brand' with a bang) which was their wedding was a complete farce.

@ZeldaWillTellYourFortune. Harry is talking BS with his 'I wasn't hugged' narrative. He was hugged by Diana and there are pictures of him with Charles, but at the age of 13 do most boys want to be hugged? Not I'm my experience. It would be mortifying, and it's an age you don't hug much.

@BillLius. Harry can have frogmore until June when the lease expires. After that there are tons of rooms in many of the royal palaces.

Terrible isn't it, so irresponsible. We know some people get away with it but you just don't know when you start if you are one of them.

AliceOlive · 06/03/2023 20:14

I think there is a big difference here between celebrities and the children of politicians, kings and diplomats. There are no repercussions for enforcing laws when it comes to celebrities. They really have no power.

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 06/03/2023 20:15

The whole Camilla "long game" thing is so bogus. I'm not a Camilla fan and never was, and frankly it's just surreal that after everything, she is going to end up as the queen.

But I'd bet my entire pension that she could not give a shit about being queen and that given her preference would be living in the country somewhere with Charles as an ordinary bloke, riding horses and playing with her grandchildren. I thinks he does all the public stuff because that's the price she has to pay to be his wife.

And I bet deep down, Harry knows this too.

headstone · 06/03/2023 20:18

AliceOlive up to a certain extent, however I doubt Prince Andrew will be taking a USA vacation anytime soon.

Yeah, the FBI is not going to open a file because Harry went on pay per view and said he likes to party or whatever.

AliceOlive · 06/03/2023 20:22

Also, does anyone get major ick from the latest photos of Harry from the ppv gig? I’m embarrassed for him.

I totally agree - there was also clearly some major special treatment when it came to whatever visa Harry is currently using to reside in the US. With their timeline they did some massive queue-jumping. Regular people are waiting 12-18 months to get their immigration visas at the moment.

I'm sure Charles would have loved pottering around his lovely gardens with Camilla at his side, picking flowers and eating their organic strawberries. Who in their right mind actually wants to travel here there and everywhere, to boring places doing boring thing, in their seventies? They love each other. They don't need crowns for that. Charles is doing it to fulfil his mothers legacy. Camilla would rather sit in a pub with a G&T

Great point about jumping the immigration queue. From friends and relatives, I know the process of getting a spousal visa is very painful. It’s much easier if you enter as a tourist and marry within a few months. Yet another example of H’s privilege.

purpledalmation · 06/03/2023 20:39

Harry's latest re the Invictus games (having now pissed off every soldier in the UK and their families) is that there is an operation called BetterUs which is working in tandem with the Games.

Apparently for £500 a month you get virtual (so it's an app?) holistic care, mental health support, advice and a bunch of other stuff.

Probably most of which you could probably get free on the NHS or much cheaper.

The big question people who've seen this are asking is...does Harry get a cut??? If he does the invicus games will fold as this is the last kick in the teeth Harry can give to soldiers..making money from them.

Any chance of a link about this BetterUs thing, purpledalmation?
Google doesn't bring up anything and I'd like to read up before making any comment

@Puzzledandpissedoff I'm super sceptical about this type of thing and this sounds like the Archwell gobbledygook. Sounds very good, but not a lot about how much it costs and where the money goes. It's not in person, but all virtual. Mmmm. Not completely dismissing it but, bottom line it's a commercial enterprise like archwell

Ah, thanks purpledalmation Smile
I don't see any reference to a £500 app on that though; the only "500" reference is "The partnership will provide BetterUp access for the Foundation to support and encourage the recovery journey of wounded, injured, and sick veterans and service personnel from around the world via the online platform We Are Invictus. The Foundation will provide access to 500 members at no cost to the individual"

Unless I'm missing something ...?

CathyorClaire · 06/03/2023 21:02

I think majority of the public want them there. Harry should attend.

I think the majority of the public have lost the will to live over this manufactured cliff-hanger.

Where would he live then if he can’t use Frogmore Cottage?

He has Toad Hall (more than likely free and at no cost as it appears has always been the case) until the summer. Even if he didn't it's not like the royals are short of guest bedrooms.

It's just what I heard, so I don't know the ins and outs, but 500 free, then payment? We'll see. Looks like a money spinning slick operation to me.

Better Up which Harry is affiliated with is a $4 billion San Francisco company providing the App.

This I copied from an article ^
^
One blue chip company that recently employed their services was charged $2,000 for six months of unlimited coaching for each employee.

So the greedy bastard is now making money off wounded soldiers. Great philanthropic work Harry.
