Archbishop of Canterbury get Harry to attend Coronation

The Mail on Sunday are claiming that Charles has asked the Archbishop to talk to Harry to get him to attend the Coronation. But William is against this as he fears the Sussex's will detract from the Coronation.

"Harry could be guaranteed a high-profile seating position in the Abbey or an informal assurance that he will be able to keep his titles as an inducement to attend. However, William fears that unless Harry’s visit is tightly scripted, he could steal the limelight by, for example, going on a walkabout in a deprived London borough with Meghan."

@MrsMaxDeWinter

"You show a couple of deranged black conspiracy theorists on YouTube I raise you a rom full of predominantly black women who paid to attend her sold out event in Indiana last year. Sisterhood is powerful. I support Meghan because I am a black woman, and I like her, and I have to confess that it amuses me t to see the apoplexy she causes in Piers Morgan, Dan Wooton, Jeremy Clarkson and Nigel Farage. Anyone who can enrage that quartet so consistently will always have my back!"

Hear Hear!!!! 🤌🏽🤌🏽

Harry's apparently been offered $$$ to be a commentator on US TV for the coronation so might decline on those grounds.

Havnt read the full thread but what insight or historical information is he able to give? He didn't appear to give Meghan a heads up on protocol so what would he know about this?

MarshaMelrose · 31/01/2023 14:31

I agree that Meghan is WAY overqualified to be in the Royal Family.

She might be qualified in certain things but she didn't have the character required to marry into the RF. It takes determination and a thick skin to stay the course; someone supportive and encouraging by your side; and a good network of solid family and/or friends that will give you succour.
Unfortunately for her she didn't have either of the first two. She may have had the last but they were two distant and without contacts to help.
I thought she was a great addition to the RF but knowing what we know now, it was never going to work out. She really just had no idea what she was doing or getting into. Totally Harry's fault.

The racism on this thread is appalling.

Where's the racism? Please do report any racist posts you see. I haven't seen any, but I'll look out for the "deleted" and "here's a link to our Talk guidelines" type notices.

If, by racism, you are referring to comments from people not convinced that Meghan Markle is a walking miracle, then that's not racism - just a bit of healthy skepticism mixed with some observational powers.

I'll help you with an example. Someone says "I dislike/don't believe/don't appreciate MM because of her colour" - that is racist.

Someone says "I'm not a fan because she did x, y and z and told lies" - that is not racist.

Questioning a person's race when they tell you what it is is racist. You are claiming to know that their person's reality more than she does

There have been posts here of this nature saying Meghan is "half colour" and that she "hid her colour".

Thank you @MrsMaxDeWinter . I must admit I have seen a bit of this from time to time and failed to really recognise it as racist - which shows how much I have to learn, I admit.

I do wish such comments could be quickly deleted if they are racist. I hate the distraction from the real issue here... which is all about integrity.

How nice of you to respond. I don't report racist comments: I challenge them. It's important that people understand what is and not acceptable, and when comments are just deleted, it is easy to deny they were ever made.

Enjoy your day.

You too, thank you!

I am half way through a helpful document from Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre. I will get there...

@BellasBench

Given his admitted weak grasp on the history of his own family, I can see him sipping tequila and just pointing out people: that's the archbishop, he married us, ... twice! etc etc.

It would be a riot😃

That’s Pa. He never hugged me you know.

Thats Willy. It’s circumcised you know.

Thats Camilla. She couldn’t wait to turn my bedroom into a study.

Thats Kate. She wouldn’t share her lipgloss.

EsmaCannonball · 31/01/2023 22:35

Come on, don't we want Harry to have enough material for Spare II? He might attend with a sunburnt knob and self-medicate with a tub of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. It'll cheer us all up next Christmas.

So Charles is unable to pick up the phone to his own son

A son who has been very restrained in the book the 'royals' were all quaking in their boots over

A son who has, if anything , been quite understanding of his father

What a deeply dysfunctional 'king'

Have you considered that this is all bollocksy rumour and no one has a clue?

That's Elton. I sang one of his songs in my books, right. Shall I sing it? No?

That's my uncle Edward. I don't mention him at all, because, to be honest, I sort of forgot I have another uncle. Good egg though.

That's his wife, my aunt Sophie. She's the one who ignored Meg that time, in the Abbey. Actually, in this abbey.

That's Zara. She's good fun, very horsey.

That's Mike. Great guy. He broke his nose once. Or was it twice? Not sure to be honest. You know how it is, recollections may vary.

I'll bet he knows less than nothing about the meaning and significance of the ceremony and ritual, so I doubt they'd be getting their money's worth.

"Oh look, there's my Pa walking down the aisle, it's a very old ceremony y'know with traditions like there's the Archbishop of Canterville waiting for him to put his crown on, and there's my brother William wearing his special costume and there's Camilla she's my hideous step-mother and there's Eugenie her Pa's a massive nonce and there's Kate looking quite pretty I suppose in a very English way that I no longer admire since the therapy was a huge success and there's Zara and Mike I'm quite scared of him actually ..."

😂😂😂
I was wondering if you thought I believed that God would turn up at the Abbey and anoint Charles, then maybe hang around at the buffet afterwards 😂😂!!

I would show up for that! Get my ass on a plane to London, find a way to break into the Coronation. Run around screaming "where's God at?" while being chased down on TV in front of millions of people around the world. All the Brits can look down their noses in judgment while knowing deep down that they are amused at my antics.

I can be the poster child for the Republicans.

I'm in even on a pay per view basis - got to be worth 10 quids worth of notes with Pa's face on.

He would of course play it very straight and reverential, framing it from the start of how much he respects the tradition and institution and is proud that his father is to become King despite all the problems at a personal level between himself and Pa. He wishes them all the best and regrets not being in person but on reflection those issues would get in the way of dignity of the occasion and so from his studio in the US wants to support them in a small way by having this platform and be with them in spirit.

(That's right Megsy - they are offering 10mill net with a 1 hour special in April to set the scene and live commentary all day on the day......

Hazza don't sell yourself short - double it.

Mummyoflittledragon · 01/02/2023 05:44

I’m loving the commentary. I hope we get to view the real thing if they don’t attend.

vera99 · 01/02/2023 06:16

I wonder if it is like weddings where the vicar says if there is any person here present who knows of any lawful impediment to this coronation , then they should declare it now. Then Harry who has entered the country secretly somehow in full ducal regalia comes storming down the aisle and cites some arcane long forgotten law and is duly arrested by beefeaters and forcibly removed from the Abbey and taken to the Tower. Or something like that I'm sure Richard Curtis could do better ...

Frankly, the thought of January 2024 with no ‘Spare -The Sequel’ to help us through it is grim

upinaballoon · 01/02/2023 15:34

You're taking the mickey out of Harry. How could you?

Bluekerfuffle · 01/02/2023 22:50

I support Meghan because I am a black woman, and I like her

I know I shouldn’t say anything as I’ll probably be shot down in flames and don’t need any more confrontation after a couple of comments from people yesterday…but I find the first bit of that sentence a little disturbing. I understand supporting her because you like her, but not the bit about because you are black. I mean, would you support anyone, no matter what, just because they are black, and if not, why mention it for someone you like?

PreparationPreparationPrep · 01/02/2023 23:07

Really? I've noticed that the more scathing youtubers picking H & M apart tend to be black! But they're American too, if that makes any difference.

I'm not sure about this if you go on Twitter they are very rarely black and usually have a Union Jack and or St George's flag emoji.
