Archbishop of Canterbury get Harry to attend Coronation

The Mail on Sunday are claiming that Charles has asked the Archbishop to talk to Harry to get him to attend the Coronation. But William is against this as he fears the Sussex's will detract from the Coronation.

"Harry could be guaranteed a high-profile seating position in the Abbey or an informal assurance that he will be able to keep his titles as an inducement to attend. However, William fears that unless Harry’s visit is tightly scripted, he could steal the limelight by, for example, going on a walkabout in a deprived London borough with Meghan."

I can't imagine Harry wants to go. Probably needs persuading by someone. I thought the palace were going to forbid him from going - now they want him there do they.

Possible involvement of Archbish has been mentioned elsewhere though, so perhaps that's happening. It is his Abbey, after all!

It's the King's abbey. Westminster is a Royal Peculiar, not under the jurisdiction of any bishop or archbishop.

This is interesting. Do you mind explaining the difference?

MarshaMelrose · 30/01/2023 15:21

Churches, cathedrals, etc, all fall under religious dioceses and belong to the Church of England. Westminster Abbey was declared in Tudor times (Elizabeth I?) to belong to the king and not be ruled by a diocese. There are a few of them around. St Georges Chapel at Windsor. And I think, not 100% sure, the Temple Church in London (Da Vinci Code) is another.

OttersMayHaveShiftedInTransit · 30/01/2023 15:24

Perhaps H&M could skip the public one and just attend the 'real one' the week before in the garden?

That's really interesting, thanks. Off to learn more!

Oh God, if they come are they going to waft down the aisle holding hands?
Please, someone impress upon them the difference between a formal event and date night.

Harry's apparently been offered $$$ to be a commentator on US TV for the coronation so might decline on those grounds.

I'll bet he knows less than nothing about the meaning and significance of the ceremony and ritual, so I doubt they'd be getting their money's worth.

The only person for the job is Alister Bruce.

Meghan is very popular amongst black people. She would be very welcomed in some London boroughs.

Really? I've noticed that the more scathing youtubers picking H & M apart tend to be black! But they're American too, if that makes any difference.

Ridemeginger · 30/01/2023 17:46

The Arch Bish will meet with Hazza and Megs a couple of days beforehand. Subsequently, they will reveal that he crowned them the People's King and Queen, in a private garden ceremony behind a pub in Wiltshire.

Long live King H XI and Queen Meggie.
Sorry, Charles who?

You show a couple of deranged black conspiracy theorists on YouTube I raise you a rom full of predominantly black women who paid to attend her sold out event in Indiana last year. Sisterhood is powerful. I support Meghan because I am a black woman, and I like her, and I have to confess that it amuses me t to see the apoplexy she causes in Piers Morgan, Dan Wooton, Jeremy Clarkson and Nigel Farage. Anyone who can enrage that quartet so consistently will always have my back!

TootsAtOwls · 30/01/2023 18:24

Well, they're not really deranged conspiracy theorists as much as articulate women pointing out the verifiable lies that H&M have told, and the fact Meghan uses her "blackness" as a way to accuse any critics of racism....

If he was invited and declines for that reason, it'll make Lion King rather that Royal Marines remembrance event look trivial

Bugeyedowl · 30/01/2023 18:41

Whether they get invited or not, I hope Harry & Meghan stay home and have a lovely birthday party for Archie, as he is more important. I would fear for their security if they came anyway, given that the RF pulled it so callously. I don't want them to come for their own safety!

The only reason I would watch the coronation is to see H&M anyway, no way do I want to watch crusty old C & C get crowned or watch the two dullards in waiting parading about looking boring.

MargaritaRita · 30/01/2023 18:50

I'm afraid I smile at the Harry dilemma - when the King and Queen are a pair of blatant adulterers one of whom is to be Head of the Church of England and pledges to uphold Christian values which presumably include the 7th Commandment right?

Harry is alright, it's the weasel Willie that I'd have my eye on. Charlie is lost, I often ask myself what would his late father do in similar circumstances and I think the answer is a boot up the backside, and add indifference from his late mother. Well that was how his life went and it probably has gone to the next generation via Charles who always seems to have a poker up his nether regions.

At the end of the day, there is no need for this Coronation. But Charles has already reneged on his "slimming" it down. His ego won't allow that of course, so the circus goes on.

LindorDoubleChoc · 30/01/2023 18:55

It isn't possible for Harry (with or without Meghan) to attend now without it becoming an absolute media circus. Well, more of a media circus. Ykwim.

That's the beauty of a television. Just press the off switch, stop moaning and let everyone else have a good time. Callousness R US. 😂

I beg to disagree. I want to see the 👑 go on his 🦳 and become 🤴. And Camilla become 👸.
Par-taaaaay. 🥳🎉🎊🎈🎈🎈

He has slimmed it down. Harry's gone. 😁🥳

Bugeyedowl · 30/01/2023 19:16

@MarshaMelrose I'll stop moaning then and leave you to your bowing and bootlicking. Hope their shoes taste nice Smile

@AtticusFrost it is literally the Archbishop’s job to preach a message of forgiveness. Judgement is reserved for God and all that, dependent on whether Andrew repents his sins.

whether we, as frail humans, can forgive Andrew is another matter. Some people find forgiveness therapeutic/freeing. Others, not so much. I’m in the not-so-much category. I also gave up Christianity long ago.
