The "Where's Meghan" Question Has Been Definitively Answered ...

She's been busy!

I hope that those who expressed concern will be happy to know that she has been working with the Archewell team on their just released Impact Report.

Meghan and Harry are polarising figures but there is no doubt that they have galvanising power to get projects, both little and big, off the ground.

Harry, with William and Kate, was a co-founder of the Royal Foundation in 2011. They had a start-up fund of just under 5 million pounds, of which 1.3 million pounds was given away in grants.

10 yrs later, Harry and Meghan set up Archewell, with start up funds of 13 million dollars, and give away three million dollars in grants.

As with both foundations, the reserve is carried over.

The range of their projects is interesting, from working with the Vaccine Alliance to raise private sector contributions to distribute vaccines, endowing academic fellowships, working with partners in resettling refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan, working with World Central Kitchens, to smaller projects like the Uvalde community playground and park and a really cute project to a small charity that gives free hair braiding to young black girls in Texas.

I am so pleased for them, their advisors and staff as this is a dream start for any start up. I have long been sceptical that they may have spread themselves too thinly, so I am glad to see they are now focusing on just three areas, as they find their groove.

Following in the footsteps of the Duchess of York and her Mills & Boon career 😂

Yeah... well... she has written over 60 books under her name Duchess of York hasn't she.... no one seems to worry about a divorced for over 25 years ex wife of a disgraced Royal milking her title do they?

MrsMaxDeWinter · 04/02/2023 12:51

MM said in the docu-series that they would love to do a romcom, so this sounds legit.

Yeah didn't she said that she is a Julia Roberts admirer. In the article. She does copy a couple of tricks form her every now and then. Yeah maybe she may be trying to relaunch her career. Good luck to her, they need more positive and meaningful projects

Roussette · 04/02/2023 15:17

Agree Corona.

Maybe she will act in it, that will send MN into a tailspin!

Eh? I am chuckling at the link they are making to Mills & Boon (which presumably will not be on the Netflix poster 😂). Not commenting on when milking titles is ok and when it's not. I know that does come up, maybe your comment was meant for a different thread?

Coronateachingagain · 04/02/2023 15:23

Yea she may get more scrutiny than it is warranted here, hopefully not. She should stay away from the script though, based on experience they should leave that to the pros. But who knows, everyone related to content and marketing has been resigning. Otherwise it may be more of the same and further irreversible damage. If they manage to rehabilitate their image that would be a fenomenal comeback.

SoTedious · 04/02/2023 15:25

I doubt it, I mean she's an actress, why would that be as interesting as the two of them embarking very publicly on a career they have no experience in? Fascinating to see how Netflix handle this pickle they have found themselves in.

No.
It was meant for this thread.

Oh, not sure where that came from then, nobody else seems to be talking about milking titles, more speculating about the next Netflix project.

Because she has dreams of becoming as famous and revered as Julia Roberts. Remember some people's ambitions have no limit.

I expect that the teams at NF will continue to exploit them and take the piss just to generate the viewers they need commercially.

They will be set up again.

Not sure H&M see it yet - they are still too delusional to realise that this.

Who in their right mind gives a shit about Meghan Markle. I mean, good luck to her, but she’s a nobody.

Viviennemary · 04/02/2023 15:36

Theye not in the news. So what does it matter where they are.

SoTedious · 04/02/2023 15:38

I had thought that the huge Netflix fee was basically for the reality series and that the rest of the deal would involve cheap and cheerful low-key stuff like Live to Lead, repackaging other people's material. So the idea that they might make a drama is very interesting, much higher stakes and way more difficult to get right.

Ohnonevermind · 04/02/2023 16:22

I’d love so Veep but the royal family version
to have Harry asking ‘did the king call’, (the answer is always no btw)
initatives being changed at the last minute as they clash with the top
dodgy deals coming to light
all the dodgy penis stuff would fit right
having to be nice to crazy people
and lots of bad language !

SoTedious · 04/02/2023 16:38

I know she doesn't work for them irl but Sue the PA gives me Angela Kelly vibes 😂

Some MN users could slot right into the Gary role without breaking stride too.

Any news on that exec experience @skullbabe?

Like I said we don’t know what EP experience she may or may not have - I wasn’t making a claim either way. We’ll see how they do regardless.

skullbabe · 04/02/2023 17:29

Has a quick read of the article linked - I had presumed that H&M would be interested in being EPs but that was purely off my own speculation. It’s interesting to see that that is the general idea - we’ll see how they do.

I think that it’s always good to diversify - as many people have said in various ways (from downright snarky to fawning) the issue these two have is sustainability. An important thing is to ensure multiple revenue streams (which they appear to be doing).

SoTedious · 04/02/2023 17:34

Like I said we don’t know what EP experience she may or may not have - I wasn’t making a claim either way.

Are you suggesting Meghan might have exec producer experience that nobody knows about, that hasn't been credited, that has never been in a press release and she has never mentioned?

This is not how it works, so we do know - she isn't an exec producer. (Yet.)

She does have an exec credit for Live to Lead of course, but that wasn't drama or original content, they just bought in some interviews that someone else had already shot. I guess she might have had an exec credit on Pearl, had it not been binned before getting out of development. But that's it. Neither of them have anything like the necessary skills or experience to make a drama for Netflix, which is what makes the situation so interesting.

The Veep (US vice president) is the ‘spare’ when you think of it.

Ohnonevermind · 04/02/2023 17:38

I did see that Meghan and Harry had EP with ‘live to lead, but they were handed a completed project which they added some commentary into so probably not a huge learning experience

Ohnonevermind · 04/02/2023 17:49

In a Veep style show, Meghan as ex princess escapes the tedium of royal life only to have to do the tedium of political life (towards a VP role)

Thinking she had left the tedium of canning factories in Grimsby and being told what to do by the RF to heading to meat processing plants in Minnesota and being told what to do by the Democratic Party

it could be very funny

skullbabe · 04/02/2023 18:09

“Are you suggesting Meghan might have exec producer experience that nobody knows about, that hasn't been credited, that has never been in a press release and she has never mentioned?”

No. What I said is we don’t know what experience they have. If you do - and it looks like you do - fantastic. We’ll wait and see how they do. From a non entertainment perspective (like myself) it looks like some actors try their hand at directing or EP work - some succeed some don’t. We’ll have to see how it works out with them. I agree it will be interesting.

BellePeppa · 04/02/2023 18:13

SoTedious · 04/02/2023 13:21

This is what they should have been doing in the first place instead of all that negative, self pitying nonsense... their own production company and putting out stuff people might like them for

The trouble with this idea is that they have no skills or track record in this area.

They could have learnt. Meghan was never interested in learning the ‘craft’ of acting (it was suggested by someone, an acting teacher or someone, to do theatre to hone her acting skills but she wasn’t interested). I think she probably wasn’t interested in learning how to create actual content of any substance that didn’t have her as front and centre). Making a quick buck by slagging off her husband’s family required no actual graft (but a lot of grift).
