The "Where's Meghan" Question Has Been Definitively Answered ...

She's been busy!

I hope that those who expressed concern will be happy to know that she has been working with the Archewell team on their just released Impact Report.

Meghan and Harry are polarising figures but there is no doubt that they have galvanising power to get projects, both little and big, off the ground.

Harry, with William and Kate, was a co-founder of the Royal Foundation in 2011. They had a start-up fund of just under 5 million pounds, of which 1.3 million pounds was given away in grants.

10 yrs later, Harry and Meghan set up Archewell, with start up funds of 13 million dollars, and give away three million dollars in grants.

As with both foundations, the reserve is carried over.

The range of their projects is interesting, from working with the Vaccine Alliance to raise private sector contributions to distribute vaccines, endowing academic fellowships, working with partners in resettling refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan, working with World Central Kitchens, to smaller projects like the Uvalde community playground and park and a really cute project to a small charity that gives free hair braiding to young black girls in Texas.

I am so pleased for them, their advisors and staff as this is a dream start for any start up. I have long been sceptical that they may have spread themselves too thinly, so I am glad to see they are now focusing on just three areas, as they find their groove.

The lack of self awareness by some posters is staggering and yes sometimes very funny - and the attacking the frequently indefinable with gymnastic style mental contortions is frequently beyond parody.

There, corrected that for you.

Honestly don't know why you do this "correction" shit.

It doesn't come across as reasonable or mature to most posters - quite the opposite - and it once again very much making my point for me.

The more some pro supported like you post in this vein (and frankly some anti ones as well ) the more many posters start to put all that side in the utter loon camp and switch off from any arguments being made.

I don't think there's much left to be said till next round of PR kicks off from one side or other or till May and the coronation - which TBH I'm have mixed feeling about.

Wasn’t it Meghan that use the word “concern” though? And she never actually heard the conversation. I think you are tying yourself in knots to justify the change of position here

Sounds like your the one tying yourself up in knots to rewrite history.
Are we supposed to have somehow all forgotten the interview?

I watched it plenty of times.

If it has been contradicted since, it doesn’t matter how many times you re watch it. It has been superseded by what Harry has since said. Again, Meghan didn’t hear the original conversation. If Harry now says he feels it wasn’t racist then he has changed tack or the conversation he reported to his wife was incorrect. Or he is lying. Take your pick.

notanotheroneagain · 13/02/2023 14:20

What does 'unconscious bias' mean.

Doesn't sound like you actually know.

As long as he still ussibg the word unconscious bias, he affirming that racism took place. This time it only means that the racism was not intentional but it came unconsciously. The people who were racist did not know they were being racist. They had bias which they were not aware off. Does not make sense to people?

What he actually claimed is that it's the media who said it was racism not him, which does nothing to change the fact he was implying racism - something confirmed when practically everyone (even those who weren't there and don't read the Mail) instantly accepted it as precisely that

I'm the first to say I can't know this, but personally I still believe he's been challenged on this by the palace, couldn't produce a coherent story to back his claim, so has had to backpedal in some misguided attempt to claw back what's left of his credibility

pilates · 13/02/2023 17:49

The problem is his credibility is shot to bits. He will never get it back.

He said his family is not racist. That includes unconscious bias in my book.

purpledalmation · 13/02/2023 19:38

@notanotheroneagain
Oprah asked H "who is having that conversation?". Harry says he will never reveal the specifics of it. My take was that Oprah wanted to know who is broaching that subject, so now media and anti H&M brigade twisted it as 1 conversation, when MM had said there were several conversation, and are using that as a denial. If it did not take place, none of them would have mentioned it.

you need to listen to the interview on OW. OW asked about the conversations around archies skin colour. Meghan said there had been concerns and conversations (plural) about the colour of archies skin all occuring while she was pregnant, in tandem with the question of giving archie a title and security. 'We' had conversations about security, not having a title or security. OW pushes her and after 2 attempts to deflect and carry on with the lie, Meghan admits it was said to Harry, not to her and she'd had conversations with no one except Harry.

Harry then comes on and says there was a conversation with an unamed member of his family which he was 'comfortable' with. So it was not hostile, racist or excluding. It was also asked before Archie was even conceived, so meghans portrayal was fundamentally deceptive. It was I'm sure a fairly regular question around mixed race couples and, as harry says, 'unconscious bias'. I agree with very little Harry says but I agree it was a distasteful comment, and one that should never been said.

His comments 2 years later saying the RF are not racist and they never said they were, confirms meghan had conflated and exaggerated a pretty innocent, if gauche, question.

Well you need to listen to what Harry says about it as he (surprisingly) exlains the differences with great clarity

milti · 13/02/2023 19:46

Oh dear oh dear - whip smart Megs not quite as clever as she thinks. Facing a grilling under oath, a laughing stock in the USA and the UK, a chilly reception at the corry and waking up next to beaker every morning! They can’t crawl back to the royal family because there’s a big Willy in the way 😂😂😂

Great clarity? He sounds like he's reciting something Meghan has told him to say which he doesn't quite understand...

I’m sure you’re aware that the palace did not allow “coloured” persons to have clerical roles in the royal household until the 60s and that Buckingham Palace negotiated clauses – that remain in place to this day – exempting the King and his household from laws that prevent race and sex discrimination.

purpledalmation · 14/02/2023 09:38

@BeautifulDayintheneighbourhood I agree absolutely! He is parroting some therapy speak but the words are coming out in the right order, and they are comprehensible 🤣. My point was there is a difference between overt racism and unconscious bias.

Yes, she is definitely not as smart as she thinks she is. If her intelligence was as big as her ego, our royal family really would be in trouble instead of swatting the delightful couple away so expertly.

The effect is still the same - accidentally running me over with a car vs mowing me down on purpose has exactly the same effect. Of course accidents can be mitigated but using unconscious bias to mean not as bad as is problematic.

I wonder where PH puts hims own words and actions on that spectrum from overt racism to unconscious bias …. when he filmed himself puffed up calling his colleagues pki and rghead?

He has never acknowledged or apologised for those specific offensive attacks directly or publicly.

IMHO his row back to unconscious bias for the RF was so that he himself could hide within that cloak.

And then to have the audacity to pick up an award for challenging the racism within the RF - which he didn’t - and arguably is the biggest contributor to is delusional and grandiose.

I 100% agree.

The scale of offence is measured by the impact on the recipient not the ‘intention’ (plausible deniability - revised and minimised after the event) of the perpetrator.

Ohnonevermind · 14/02/2023 11:04

Courts do distinguish between deliberate acts of violence and accidents ?

Interesting point, in light of the lack of the lack of direct comment or apology about his own racism
The only thing that spoils it is that it would involve some recognition of his own fault, and I'm not sure he's capable of that

Yea I am aware of this, but that was not what Harry was addressing in his comments. He was talking about what happened in the conversation about the baby. He was not addressing racism in general in the Royal Family and as pp said, he then has the front to pick up an award

I would put those comments in the racist spectrum. The proof will be in the pudding as to what anti racism work he is taking on and from the way he speaks, it looks like he’s doing the work. It’s not easy work and there will be missteps but the important thing is that he keeps on working on it and trying.

As addressed in my comment - manslaughter and murder still have a person’s death at the end and this should be acknowledged and is by our judicial system. However many people are using unconscious bias to minimise the harm at all.
