The "Where's Meghan" Question Has Been Definitively Answered ...

She's been busy!

I hope that those who expressed concern will be happy to know that she has been working with the Archewell team on their just released Impact Report.

Meghan and Harry are polarising figures but there is no doubt that they have galvanising power to get projects, both little and big, off the ground.

Harry, with William and Kate, was a co-founder of the Royal Foundation in 2011. They had a start-up fund of just under 5 million pounds, of which 1.3 million pounds was given away in grants.

10 yrs later, Harry and Meghan set up Archewell, with start up funds of 13 million dollars, and give away three million dollars in grants.

As with both foundations, the reserve is carried over.

The range of their projects is interesting, from working with the Vaccine Alliance to raise private sector contributions to distribute vaccines, endowing academic fellowships, working with partners in resettling refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan, working with World Central Kitchens, to smaller projects like the Uvalde community playground and park and a really cute project to a small charity that gives free hair braiding to young black girls in Texas.

I am so pleased for them, their advisors and staff as this is a dream start for any start up. I have long been sceptical that they may have spread themselves too thinly, so I am glad to see they are now focusing on just three areas, as they find their groove.

Hi Megs, how's the coffee this morning 🙂?

OutForBreakfast · 30/01/2023 12:59

A Twist of Greatness is a monthly event that provides children with a hairstyle of their choice, a book, a snack bag, school supplies and a gift.
The founder started this with homeless children. If you are a homeless child, your hair looking as good as other children's probably is important. The founder started the charity after being homeless herself.

What a ridiculously obsequious OP 😁

And underneath, some cleverly veiled sarcasm! Nice work @MrsMaxDeWinter Grin

Not keen on the partnership claims, throw a small amount of money and PR to a charity and then claim the achievements of the charity. Otherwise the more money the better, ugly to do comparisons

This.

They are lucky they are in the US, this paper is short and lacking in content (or own content anyways, we could also name all the charities we support at home couldn't we and the amazing work THEY do) and wouldn't stand scrutiny with more stringent ESG regulation in Europe.

Why does this feel like it's been written by their PR Team?

My first thought as well. Thought ads weren't allowed on MN.

Hair braiding charity? My, oh my, we really need that, don't we?

Given the demographic of Mumsnet, to which you probably belong, you definitely do not need a hair braiding charity as it is not aimed at you.

It is aimed at little black girls in Nashville, Texas.

In the same way, I imagine you were not the beneficiary of Meghan's Grenfell cookbook project, as that was for women affected by the Grenfell fire.

Read more about both here.

Why are they taking credit for the hard work of others? The vaccines and resettlement of Afghans- almost like they haven't done anything of value from their own merits what a surprise.

Fairlybear · 30/01/2023 13:06

They also took credit for a playground in Texas that they had no part in- bunch of clowns.

@MrsMaxDeWinter glad you posted .. they're amazing - working hard and raising millions despite all the racism trolls haters for whom
Daily mail is their only source of news .. luckily the world has other news sources hence their global reach and support

I would like to second that. Plough on @MrsMaxDeWinter MrsMaxDeWinter we have the Archbishop of Canterbury and therefore god on our side. And if god is with us who can be against us ?

All of their employees have left haven't they?

Aldibag · 30/01/2023 13:08

If the ‘cute’ hair braid story is not even vaguely relevant to the demographic of this forum, why are you repeatedly mentioning it?

Honestly, MrsHazdeWindsor, so strange!

I am so pleased for them, their advisors and staff as this is a dream start for any start up.

It’s incredible… all they had was a dream, the drive, tens of millions of pounds, the allure of being associated with royalty and a huge publicity team. It really gives you hope.

There are comments on here that make me really wish MN had a like button. This is one of those comments.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 30/01/2023 13:09

OutForBreakfast · 30/01/2023 12:56

Have you any idea what they actually do?

Hair braiding?

My first thought as well. Thought ads weren't allowed on MN.

There has been speculation on Mumsnet that Meghan is about divorce Harry, is keeping her distance etc.

The more likely scenario is that she has been working with the AF team on this report, as she is now the co-CEO of Archewell. I shared the highlights to show the work they are actually doing, and linked the report, which is topical as it has just been released.

There is nothing in the Mumsnet TalkGuidelines that says the only Meghan threads allowed are those that bash her or speculate on her divorce. If you can speculate wildly on her whereabouts and state of mind, then I am allowed to post about what her Foundation has actually been doing.

Hope that's clear.

Sounds like a press release 😂 that you Megz?

FanFckingTastic · 30/01/2023 13:12

Gosh, this is a very odd thread! Who are these people that have been asking 'Where's Megan?' I must have missed these threads but I'm glad that people will be happy to know that she's been busy....

OutForBreakfast · 30/01/2023 13:13

Often well off people think they know what makes a difference to very poor children and adults, but they are often wrong. They often miss the importance of dignity.

OutForBreakfast · 30/01/2023 13:14

@FanFckingTastic Some of the Royalists are obsessed with Meghan. Even if there is nothing they can jump on, they can't stop talking about her.

Haydugee · 30/01/2023 13:15

“Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex” 🤣

They do love the trappings of royalty when it suits them, don’t they.

Now I am singing Handel: "If God is for us, who can be against us? Who can be against us?"

God is definitely on side. Especially as, to counter the sensible suggestion of mediation by the Arch, the Daily Mail has a poisonous little story that says Welby has "fallen under Meghan's spell"😃

And one that says a previous Archbishop, Cranmer, worked on Henry VIII's divorce from Anne Boleyn after Wolsey failed.

I think they mean Catherine of Aragon, but Meghan has a way of making people forget their own history. Maybe it's that spell that she casts?

Nope, correct. Cranmer was appointed Archbishop of Canterbury and promptly declared that Henry's marriage to Katherine was invalid; clearing the way for Henry to marry Anne.

Looks like it.
