The "Where's Meghan" Question Has Been Definitively Answered ...

MrsMaxDeWinter · 30/01/2023 11:50

She's been busy!

I hope that those who expressed concern will be happy to know that she has been working with the Archewell team on their just released Impact Report.

Meghan and Harry are polarising figures but there is no doubt that they have galvanising power to get projects, both little and big, off the ground.

Harry, with William and Kate, was a co-founder of the Royal Foundation in 2011. They had a start-up fund of just under 5 million pounds, of which 1.3 million pounds was given away in grants.

10 yrs later, Harry and Meghan set up Archewell, with start up funds of 13 million dollars, and give away three million dollars in grants.

As with both foundations, the reserve is carried over.

The range of their projects is interesting, from working with the Vaccine Alliance to raise private sector contributions to distribute vaccines, endowing academic fellowships, working with partners in resettling refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan, working with World Central Kitchens, to smaller projects like the Uvalde community playground and park and a really cute project to a small charity that gives free hair braiding to young black girls in Texas.

I am so pleased for them, their advisors and staff as this is a dream start for any start up. I have long been sceptical that they may have spread themselves too thinly, so I am glad to see they are now focusing on just three areas, as they find their groove.

Telegraph and Express are reporting it. No official announcement.

Ohnonevermind · 04/02/2023 09:54

Definitely a great thing to move forwards, their new friends have so much experience to give them advice.

i’m not a huge American rom com fan as love (Seinfeld/Veep style stuff) but sure it will be popular

SoTedious · 04/02/2023 11:51

That's true - Netflix might be ok with Tyler Perry if they are still buddies and he's not contracted elsewhere. I think he might be tied up with Amazon at the mo.

They will need someone like him with a big track record though. Then the question is how much control someone like that will want to give to two first timers - what will their roles be etc.

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/02/2023 11:57

I hope this works out for them both. It’s not at all what Harry had in mind when younger. Quite the opposite really as he wanted to be out of the spotlight and surrounded by nature. However he needs to pump some fun into his life to replace the negativity and anger felt towards his family.

Oh so not substantiated at all then…..

Just click bait drivel.

I understood that there was more integrity / credibility of sources called for routinely on this forum before posting? I have seen you call for this repeatedly which is admirable and appropriate.

Proper evidence from the horses mouth etc.

Are your standards slipping - or do they just apply to others?

I hope you're joking. The amount of stuff that is posted about Meghan that is DM or elsewhere and totally unsubstantiated is untrue.

It was in two newspapers, no official statement from them as I said. More sources are reporting this now also.

If I repeatedly called out everyone for credibility of sources on negative stories about Meghan, I wouldn't have a life! Yet you home in on something interesting and more on the positive side, with a sideswipe at me, no surprises there!

I mentioned it in passing to get this thread back on track, feel free to ignore if you like!

SoTedious · 04/02/2023 12:47

I think it's an interesting discussion point - it highlights the slightly odd position they are in, having a deal with Netflix but no experience as tv writers or producers. It will be interesting to see what they come up with (if not more reality-style programming about themselves), and what roles they will take.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 04/02/2023 12:51

MM said in the docu-series that they would love to do a romcom, so this sounds legit.

It sounds eminently suitable and a good move for them. I think they had bitten off a bit more than they could chew with their philanthropy stuff, running before they could walk. And they have to leave the moaning behind as it quickly becomes boring.

I agree with you that there is loads of unsubstantiated rubbish published in DM and many other media outlets about many people in the public eye - and my understanding was in order to uphold some sort of standard / credibility for debate that anything of this nature shouldn’t be referenced - whether it’s about MM, PH, RF etc positive or negative.

Ohnonevermind · 04/02/2023 13:08

Publications like variety are a far more credible source about upcoming productions than a British tabloid,
but Netflix may want them in it rather than behind the scenes, I’d read that was the reason the Obama’s split with Netflix

This is what they should have been doing in the first place instead of all that negative, self pitying nonsense. They then could have had it all; out of the RF but still on good terms, their own production company and putting out stuff people might like them for, lots of money coming in, lots of Hollywood friends, A list must haves at all the parties etc. instead no one dares get too close to them in case their private lives get exposed for money (magic mushrooms in Courtney Cox’s house for example). Anyone with half a brain and even less of an ego would have known this.

SoTedious · 04/02/2023 13:21

This is what they should have been doing in the first place instead of all that negative, self pitying nonsense... their own production company and putting out stuff people might like them for

The trouble with this idea is that they have no skills or track record in this area.

Regardless if that is true or not (and I’m not sure many people know of Meghan’s experience with EP work which is what I think they’ll be best placed to do) - it’s good that they’re trying to diversify and if it isn’t successful they can try at something else.

SoTedious · 04/02/2023 13:46

Which experience is that? Something she is keeping secret from IMDb evidently.

Yes, many, many people do try their hand at tv production without success, but not often so publicly, or for Netflix. That's what makes it so interesting.

It's referenced continually if it's negative.

Thats why you should continue to call out the unsubstantiated click bait - not join in with it.

I look forward to you doing that on the very many threads on H&M. You might find yourself rather busy! Not sure why I have to continually call out anything... there's a lot of other MNers who post about them prolifically.

Personally, I imagine they might be going forward with something of this nature. And the unsubstantiated click bait, as you call it, is not something earth shattering, or insulting, or ridiculous. Maybe it is just speculation, who knows. The Telegraph article talks like it is fact.

No of course you are not obligated to call out click bait - but have seen many do so and it’s effective at “quality control” to keep discussion within some semblance of sanity - just surprised that you fell for it and repeated it in this instance.

Oh do give over. I fell for nothing, this is a chatty thread and I mentioned something that might be happening.

Good luck with your QC! Keep your name longer than one day and I'll recognise your calling out on all the other threads and all the other posters.

I'm not responding to you again.

Enjoy your Saturday... Wales vs Ireland Six Nations calls me. 🏉🏉

But you didn’t say “maybe” at all - did you?

You repeated unsubstantiated click bait which you often call others out on.

The characteristic whataboutery, doubling down and then flouncing always amuses me when you are held to account.

You would have more credibility if you just acknowledged your mistake / drop in standards.

I had to archive it because it was behind a paywall, if it looks an odd link.

Oh goodness - what an absolute piss take by the reporter of H&M - seems like you shot yourself right in the foot there spreading such a disparaging parody.

Honestly don’t touch the click bait.
