The "Where's Meghan" Question Has Been Definitively Answered ...

She's been busy!

I hope that those who expressed concern will be happy to know that she has been working with the Archewell team on their just released Impact Report.

Meghan and Harry are polarising figures but there is no doubt that they have galvanising power to get projects, both little and big, off the ground.

Harry, with William and Kate, was a co-founder of the Royal Foundation in 2011. They had a start-up fund of just under 5 million pounds, of which 1.3 million pounds was given away in grants.

10 yrs later, Harry and Meghan set up Archewell, with start up funds of 13 million dollars, and give away three million dollars in grants.

As with both foundations, the reserve is carried over.

The range of their projects is interesting, from working with the Vaccine Alliance to raise private sector contributions to distribute vaccines, endowing academic fellowships, working with partners in resettling refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan, working with World Central Kitchens, to smaller projects like the Uvalde community playground and park and a really cute project to a small charity that gives free hair braiding to young black girls in Texas.

I am so pleased for them, their advisors and staff as this is a dream start for any start up. I have long been sceptical that they may have spread themselves too thinly, so I am glad to see they are now focusing on just three areas, as they find their groove.

The Edward /Wallis example ( not withstanding the 'nazi' connections and the fact that they weren't in the UK during the war ) was a time before constant social media and a British press that chose to mostly ignore them. Out of sight out of mind. The question that some raise here is that they believe their value will rapidly decline as people tire of them. For better or worse I don't see that happening. The haters egged on by the tabloid press in particular seem to hang on their every utterance and appearance, as it must be said , do we.

Royal renewal! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seen together for the first time together since bombshell memoir was published: Couple watch neighbours Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia renew their vows at star-studded birthday bash

screams the Mail today for instance.

But were they watching over the garden fence?

I think it's time to bring a bit of lightness and joy to this thread.

Here is a golden oldie, a happy interview with Aker Okoye who made headlines on Meghan's last solo engagement.

This delightful young man is now at Jesus College, Cambridge.

Thanks @MrsMaxDeWinter - This was funny - I hadn't seen the full clip - lovely young man and good to see he is doing well!

I’ve not been here as long as some, but many of those threads have been deleted as they often start calling kate waity, lazy etc then descend to ‘cold bitch ’ then people lose the run of themselves start talking about plasters on fingers and calling her anorexic which usually gets the the threads deleted.

@Coxspurplepippin very sad indeed that, as the report indicates, malnourished children in this village died in cold, uninhabited caves after cold weather as they and their families fled there to escape bombing.

Or are you saying this is the condition of everyone in Africa, that we all live in icy cold caves and have to choose between heating and eating? Because that is not true at all.

But if you keep digging, I am sure you will find more examples from the coldest winter ever recorded on the continent, in 1935. Happy hunting.

Yeah, yeah, I'm saying this is the way everyone in Africa lives. FFS Hmm

But obviously your assertions that no-one on the continent worries about the cold is, erm, not accurate.

From a personal perspective I have never been as cold in my life as during several nights spent in the Sahara.

Ohnonevermind · 03/02/2023 19:11

My friends mum came home to SA from visiting her daughter to burst pipes after a cold spell 🤷‍♀️

SoTedious · 03/02/2023 19:14

Coxs I hope you are not questioning the accuracy of MrsMax - you must be one of those people produced by the UK education system who have poor knowledge of the world 😂

Agree they should be
but moderation is weird on the RF topic.
some of the stuff said about Meghan would not be left up if it was about anyone else.

Idiots. Imagine thinking it gets cold in Africa.

Also Australia - DH and I got together on a work ski trip in Jindabyne at one of the last Dragon concerts before Marc Hunter was diagnosed with throat cancer. We spent a very romantic evening sledging and drinking mulled wine. One of the most 'wtf' moments of my life was seeing kangaroos bounding across a snow covered paddock.

Has this become a travelogue?

Can I add my wonderful moment?

Me and DH managing to set foot on the remotest inhabited island in the world. Tristan da Cunha. What a moment... you can only get there by boat and the swells were something else... 12foot and more. But we did it! It was bucket list thing as my DH had worked on other islands in the area.

Anyway, back to the subject in hand... reportedly M&H are working on a new Netflix series. Not about them (don't panic folks)
"There will be more of a heavy focus on fictional, scripted content. It will be rom coms, feel good and light-hearted programmes."

So Meghan hasn't disappeared, no need to ask where she is. She's living her life!

queenofarles · 04/02/2023 08:42

cox I hand the similar experience in Ifrane Morocco , one moment we were in sunny Fez then hour later by car we were walking in the Ifrane forest covered in Snow,
We spent hours walking and taking pictures of Gazelles in the distance , it was so Surreal!

Roussette · 04/02/2023 08:43

p.s. when I say islands in the area', we are talking 2,500 miles away!

MrsMaxDeWinter · 04/02/2023 08:58

@Roussette

You lucky thing. I have always wanted to go there, and to St Helena too.

It was off the coast of Tristan de Cunha that a shipwreck happened that led to one of the most notorious criminal law cases in England. Two of the shipwrecked sailors killed a young cabin boy, Richard Parker, so they could drink his blood to stay alive. Charged with murder, they pleaded necessity. It's the case that inspired Yann Martel's wonderful Life of Pi, he even named the tiger Richard Parker.

Oh wow, I didn't know all of that ... I am now going to waste a few hours looking into it instead of cleaning the house, good excuse

DH worked on Falklands and Ascension, hence the trip for us.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 04/02/2023 09:11

The case is called R v Dudley and Stephens.

Be warned, it's pretty harrowing!

This is interesting - tv drama is so expensive and risky, Netflix tends to work with super established people like Ricky Gervais and Shonda Rhimes these days. I wonder if Meghan has any experience of writing/production (assuming Harry hasn't). Maybe they will get exec producer credits on what is effectively someone else's show, but who, I wonder..

I think this is a great direction for them both. I love a rom com and I think in terms of their public image it would be a good idea to rebalance a bit, away from the heavier and more controversial issues for a while.

I agree. Light and fluffy needed. It'll get criticised beyond comprehension of course, but they should just go for it.
