The "Where's Meghan" Question Has Been Definitively Answered ...

MrsMaxDeWinter · 30/01/2023 11:50

She's been busy!

I hope that those who expressed concern will be happy to know that she has been working with the Archewell team on their just released Impact Report.

Meghan and Harry are polarising figures but there is no doubt that they have galvanising power to get projects, both little and big, off the ground.

Harry, with William and Kate, was a co-founder of the Royal Foundation in 2011. They had a start-up fund of just under 5 million pounds, of which 1.3 million pounds was given away in grants.

10 yrs later, Harry and Meghan set up Archewell, with start up funds of 13 million dollars, and give away three million dollars in grants.

As with both foundations, the reserve is carried over.

The range of their projects is interesting, from working with the Vaccine Alliance to raise private sector contributions to distribute vaccines, endowing academic fellowships, working with partners in resettling refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan, working with World Central Kitchens, to smaller projects like the Uvalde community playground and park and a really cute project to a small charity that gives free hair braiding to young black girls in Texas.

I am so pleased for them, their advisors and staff as this is a dream start for any start up. I have long been sceptical that they may have spread themselves too thinly, so I am glad to see they are now focusing on just three areas, as they find their groove.

Me too. Though I have been mostly lurking because my life is akin to a shit show right now.

Also, wanted to say (as a joke), we will take Harry in the US, but you can't have Ryan Reynolds in exchange. The fact that he is Canadian is of no matter to us. 😁

no we will have ryan

Samcro there's been a lot of really pissy personal comments about her looks, her children, her relationship with her husband. Quite nasty for someone who appears to have done bugger all to justify it. No issues with critique of activities as long as they're truly justified and not just having a dig (which tbh many of them seem to be - if it's anything to do with Kate it must be worthless) but the personal bile, well, no more acceptable than vileness about Meghan, surely?

on what ? one thread. now I agree its not nice. but oh so hypocritical when there are 100's bashing meghan and just look at this thread.

'on what ? one thread. now I agree its not nice. but oh so hypocritical when there are 100's bashing meghan and just look at this thread.'

No, not on one thread.

Now that is just mean. 🤣🤣

Roussette · 03/02/2023 16:29

I have been on that thread and really not seen any comments about her appearance apart from 'she's just a blowdry in a coat' which I thought was mean.

Most of the criticism is of her ten years on this project with little to show for it at the moment

The outrage and sarcasm is about that, it seems to me.

Before I get jumped on from a great height, I will go back and check so please don't roast me if I have missed one tiny comment being horrible about her appearance.

Where are they?

I've looked on the RF section, there is just the Early years one that is current. All the traffic is about H&M. Is it in another section?

I think your nose might be growing as well.

Do you think I have lied about something? What?

Unbelievable @MrsMaxDeWinter that you are doubling down 🤯

Lumping together people from three different continents and pronouncing on their worries, showing staggering ignorance while going on about others' "poor knowledge of the world". Do you really not know that not all people in those three huge areas experience the same climate? Or that some parts of those areas get very cold? Or that a lot of Asia is not even in the southern hemisphere?
Mind boggling.

Yes I am doubling down because my meaning is clear. Siberia is not in the southern Hemisphere for heaven's sake.

The global majority of the world population lives in warm climates. Their needs are not the same as the global minority of people who live in cold climates.

Heating is a priority for people in cold climates because without it people can die.

of course people heat their homes when it's the short cold cold in some cold parts of the "warm" world, but if you don't have indoor heating, and the bills that come with them, people may use electric heaters, fires etc.

People in warm climates have other, equally pressing needs that arise because of geography, climate and levels of development.

ERGO:

People in warm climates do not have to chose between heating and eating.

And that is all I will say about that.

And for @MrsMaxDeWinter, all racism is bad, including your post the other day about "the people of Africa, Latin America and Asia" not needing to worry about heating because it's hot there.

This is a comically bad paraphrasing of what I said The poster I responded was ranting that people all over the world are choosing between heating and eating. And I pointed out that actually, that is not true because in Africa, Latin America and Asia, heating is not an issue at all because of the climate but of course there are more pressing problems.

I am aware that the UK education system can produce people with poor knowledge of the world outside the UK, but this is a matter of basic human and social geography. The climate of the Southern hemisphere, combined with the shorter and milder cold months, means that indoor heating is just not the necessity it is in the UK. In my part of Africa, you are more likely to die of heat than cold.

@MrsMaxDeWinter have had other posts deleted on other threads for overt misogyny and racism.

We ought to rename this thread "Thread to catch out Anyone who even remotely thinks Meghan isn't vile and go back on their history to dig up anything to insult and belittle them"

As Neowulf said last night...
Spying on their previous history and then using that info to try and shame them is also harassing and bullying by the way

Interesting... the only bit of her post I agree with.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 03/02/2023 17:07

I hate to burst your bubble @AllOutofEverything but you will find that no one lives on top of the snow capped Mount Kenya or Mount Kilimanjaro.

People do live in Nairobi, Arusha and other cities and villages though, where they do not need indoor heating, and if they do in the very short winter, its from electric heaters and wood fires.

You won't find people living on top of snowy mountains worried about choosing between heating and eating, but well tried.

Why was I deleted? I only pointed out that some posters were being nasty on other threads, when there’s a whole crew of them here doing the wide-eyed, “Who? Us? No, never!” thing.

Defending Meghan is hard work, so I admire their grinding diligence, but don’t pretend there isn’t some spite towards Kate.

I’m no particular fan of any of them personally, but Kate has not behaved poorly and is just jogging along doing her job, therefore undeserving of Fan Fury.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 03/02/2023 17:24

@Coxspurplepippin very sad indeed that, as the report indicates, malnourished children in this village died in cold, uninhabited caves after cold weather as they and their families fled there to escape bombing.

Or are you saying this is the condition of everyone in Africa, that we all live in icy cold caves and have to choose between heating and eating? Because that is not true at all.

But if you keep digging, I am sure you will find more examples from the coldest winter ever recorded on the continent, in 1935. Happy hunting.

Roussette · 03/02/2023 17:33

but don’t pretend there isn’t some spite towards Kate.

Well, I certainly haven't said there aren't bitchy comments about her. I said that in my last post.

However, it pales into insignificance to the nastiness about Meghan. It does not come close.

And the worst I personally have said about her is what a PP screenshotted on here (thanks for that Hmm) and I have more than once questioned whether she actually does enough. We are allowed to criticise her for that, she is on our dime. If she didn't like the scrutiny, she shouldn't have married W. 'Jogging along doing her job' is not good enough for the two of them.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 03/02/2023 17:36

I think it's time to bring a bit of lightness and joy to this thread.

Here is a golden oldie, a happy interview with Aker Okoye who made headlines on Meghan's last solo engagement.

This delightful young man is now at Jesus College, Cambridge.
