The "Where's Meghan" Question Has Been Definitively Answered ...

MrsMaxDeWinter · 30/01/2023 11:50

She's been busy!

I hope that those who expressed concern will be happy to know that she has been working with the Archewell team on their just released Impact Report.

Meghan and Harry are polarising figures but there is no doubt that they have galvanising power to get projects, both little and big, off the ground.

Harry, with William and Kate, was a co-founder of the Royal Foundation in 2011. They had a start-up fund of just under 5 million pounds, of which 1.3 million pounds was given away in grants.

10 yrs later, Harry and Meghan set up Archewell, with start up funds of 13 million dollars, and give away three million dollars in grants.

As with both foundations, the reserve is carried over.

The range of their projects is interesting, from working with the Vaccine Alliance to raise private sector contributions to distribute vaccines, endowing academic fellowships, working with partners in resettling refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan, working with World Central Kitchens, to smaller projects like the Uvalde community playground and park and a really cute project to a small charity that gives free hair braiding to young black girls in Texas.

I am so pleased for them, their advisors and staff as this is a dream start for any start up. I have long been sceptical that they may have spread themselves too thinly, so I am glad to see they are now focusing on just three areas, as they find their groove.

Don't be ridiculous.

Of course it happened. @Roussette is absolutely correct.

That's why Justine, the founder of this site, who sees behind the scenes as well as what is posted, said the anti-Meghan posts were "deranged".

In her interview Justine compared the deluge of Meghan threads to those about Madeline McCann. I've been on MN long enough to know how vicious those threads got. They actually had to take the same approach they take to Madeline McCann threads here at one point and BANNED new threads about Meghan for months, just after they left the UK and during the lockdown because it was off the scale.

After Meghan threads were banned, the more extreme posters then set up an alternative site to continue the bashing. Before that, there was a surreal time when the more extreme bashers all changed their user names to include the word "Penguin", the better I suppose to identify each other, then there was the long running threads in which posters constantly asked each other "are you okay, no one asked of I was okay" which are meant to mock Meghan's mental distress. We are talking about threads going on for 30 page for more before being deleted.

You only have to go through the Royal Family threads to see there are gaps in posting in 2019 and 2020.

I have said before that I wrote to Musnet in 2017 under my real name because even then, before the wedding, before they left, before the Oprah, I had serious concerns about the manner in which posters were discussing MM on Mumsnet. I have been vindicated.

I can count the number of time posters have tried to start positive or non bashing threads which in moments are taken over by toxic posters. And yet on every toxic and malicious thread, any positive poster is insulted, dragged and bullied.

Nothing @Roussette has said is untrue.

Many thanks @MrsMaxDeWinter MrsMaxDeWinter for your dogged determination to get the truth out there and keep the discussion factual and evidence based with good grace and humour. Much appreciated in my little corner of the internet and a lovely username to boot. 🌹🌹🌹🌹

Yes this poster who drove an upset and suicidal poster off of my thread?
And bullied her with the help of another poster, very gracious!

who do you mean? throwing accusations around like that must require some proof.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 30/01/2023 12:46

@Boulshired we are not talking just small amounts of money: in addition to their own grant giving, MM and PH convened a private sector roundtable on vaccines, at which Mastercard gave 25 million to the Vaccine Alliance, just one example. The CEO of Global Citizen has given an interview about this.

There have been smaller grants too but with a big impact, eg the hair braiding charity received 20k from AF which was matched to 40k by another foundation (Americans have a matching donations approach) which in turn had a ripple effect for their fundraising. And more importantly, allowed the charity to grow and make many little black girls happy in Texas.

Op, I’m sure you have good intentions but your phrasing leaves a lot to be desired especially the last line Confused

Have they really?

ohnonevermind obviously has an agenda to insult and stalk me which is going to derail this thread, so I will step back. I would hate it if this thread got deleted because of this. @MrsMaxDeWinter has been gracious in her responses and informative in her posts.

I am not 'sticking the boot' in to Kate, maybe latecomers might like to look at the screenshot that the poster searched for to screenshot and post on here, and see what I actually said and make their own minds up.
I will leave you all to it.
Thanks for the support on here Smile

Did Catherine and William contribute to your food bank or were they empty-handed? Don't try and twist it when comments have called out a few posts.

I agree with you, OP, that the replies are weird. They expected more Meghan batching.

I think a journalist started the first post about where Meghan is. This was then carried to other sites to try and smoke her out during harry's tv appearance but it didn't happen.

With Meghan being gone, a lot of them had to deal Harry instead.

When did Harry have a TV appearance? I hope that really wasn’t the case about Meghan because that does not sound nice. I literally saw this thread under active threads and hadn’t seen any other threads asking about Meghan.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 02/02/2023 15:35

@Roussette you are one of the reasons I reregistered after I had left initially. Take it from a stranger, you come across as sincere, thoughtful and above all, as a genuinely nice person, something that shines through your posts. Reading you @debbrianna @Samcro @Aspiringmatriarch @Novella and many others who frequently name change makes it clear that there are many fair-minded posters on these threads, no matter how great the mob pressure to censor, bully and belittle.

@jeffgoldblum
I remember how your thread was derailed, and I remember how randompenguin was bullied relentlessly.

@Lizziet64 😂

skullbabe · 02/02/2023 21:18

It is really crazy making the rewriting of history - there hundreds upon hundreds of threads dedicated to Meghan bashing. We have people in this thread claiming that several posts asking where Meghan was are not here in this very forum and that @MrsMaxDeWinter must be making it up. We have on the one hand a poster claiming that people who are not 100% critical of H&M are all sorts of insulting terms and then minimising the real damage caused by these threads by saying these claims may be "exaggerated" or "made up". Like @Roussette said WE KNOW and we remember.

I think not engaging with obvious bad faith actors is the best way forward.

ThighMistress · 02/02/2023 21:22

Look, it’s really poor you M&H supporters slapping each other on the back and agreeing how good , polite and kind you all are, when a quick hop onto some other threads about William and Kate reveal you to be just as spiteful and unpleasant as those posters you are criticising for being over-invested and nasty.

The outrage and distress is utterly hypocritical. Like M&H actually!

Genuinely, where? I read this board regularly and I never see that! You get some criticism, some speculation at times, sure. But nothing even close to the wholesale character assassination and awful sneering tone on any thread about Harry and Meghan. I mean, not even close.

It’s incredible… all they had was a dream, the drive, tens of millions of pounds, the allure of being associated with royalty and a huge publicity team. It really gives you hope.

🤣🤣 how true

Interesting isn't it - many not-anti Meghan posters on this thread are familiar names and I agree with you - most are reasonable as are some of regular anti Meghan posters who have posted on this thread who are critical of H&M without the vituperative tone. It is just something else.

Surprised that Ellen doesn't seem to have distanced herself from H&M as the Obamas and Oprah seem to have.

What about being called a racist troll if you dare criticise MM
